Posts that relate to topics with their own thread, such as in News, Tournaments or Strategy should go in those threads.

I mean, it feels like the optimal strategy right now both in pubs and in pros (Alliance, for example) is to get into 5-man teamfights as soon as possible. It feels like historical counters to that (split pushing or counter-pushing + farming) are too comparatively weak. I don't know if it was the 6.75 team bounty change, but it feels like the XP disadvantage of 5-manning is not enough to counterbalance to advantage of killing outnumbered people and getting the gold.

I don't think that's necessarily true. Both Zenith and Orange have seen plenty of success using dual/tri-core laning/split-push strategies, and not just 5-man teamfight strategies.

The main thing is that the pace of the game has become faster overall. It's not that it favors teamfight strategies in particular, more than the fact that laning tends to break up earlier and the midgame develops more quickly. Which I think is a good thing, because I don't see why long laning/passive phases are necessarily good for the game. This does not mean that teamfighting is the only way to play out the midgame.

Split Push strategies are still quite popular in the Western scene as well (well, some teams in the west draft split push strategies and then dont split push with them, but thats another story).

The fact that KotL is such a highly-valued pick actually belies how strong split-pushing still is everywhere, because much KotL's value is that he enables split-pushing in many scenarios where it would not otherwise be sustainable (gives reliable wave clear by himself, and can bring back a split-pushing hero).

If people didn't find this to be useful, then KotL wouldn't get picked/banned as much as he is.

Well, Kotl also has a lot of value even in 5 man and dealing with split pushes / pushes as a whole.

He's just a damn good hero in everything but ganks

Gosugamers apparently doing a complete site refresh and they just started a wiki. http://gosugamers.net/dota2/news/24105-tonight-bid-farewell-to-the-gosugamers-you-know

Their wiki articles on players at least are far above what liquipedia and dotawiki has.

And liquipedia still says starladder 3 had a 30k prize pool. (Well, so does theirs, but there's still no real source on this)

I don't get why there should be so many different dota2 wiki's.

Why wouldn't they work on something more useful?

I like how you neither correct it, nor say what his first team really was.

And so far I can see it they never claim that CCM was his first team.

Well I just found out that you can edit without logging in--I figured it would be Liquipedia where you need to be logged in to edit and I don't have a gg.net account.

I'm not actually sure of his team history before cD (don't know if he had a semipro career of note before then), but I'd rather have no info than incorrect info.

"SanSheng showed himself to the world from performance in all Chinese team, CCM, Catastrophic Cruel Memory."

Even a liberal interpretation of that would mean that CCM was the first team he was on that was internationally notable--which isn't really right either because cD was the Winner's Bracket finalist at SMM '09.

Well they're launching a new site as well.

The information out there on players pre dota-2 is pretty bad on liquipedia and dotawiki. So it's not like there's a perfect site and pointless to make their own.

GGnet has always been one of the most useful resources in Dota. Will be interesting to see if they bring out anything new in that regard or if they're just getting a facelift.
