Either way Armlet isn't that great on LD. It's just Aui playing hipster-dota.
thoughts guys?
I think you've been saving that for way too long lol.
Sure, Armlet turns out to be better than it seemed from the start. At the time it really didn't seem like it provided more than maelstrom, but I suppose it depends on what you're doing with LD as well. You still play hipster-dota, no escaping it.
So basically you challenged a new build without looking at the actual math and logic behind it.

I guess finding optimized builds is hipster dota.
Depends on your definition of optimized. LD's armlet build just fits really comfortably in the current way the game is played right now - if for whatever reason, pushes came 5-10 minutes later or the game was played slower, radiance would still be a legit build (it still is legit, just usually not worth it).
Personally, I didn't really feel like armlet was good until I played 5~-10 games with it - and keep in mind a lot of players didn't realize dota2 wasn't using the correct version of the armlet on the bear (because its bugged).

People were comparing it to Maeltrom most of the time, for items of the same price. And everyone knew it didn't work like in Dota 1, in Dota 1 you actually lose the base attack speed from armlet when you activate it, meaning you would notice the fact your bear is not only not attacking faster, it's actually attacking slower than before.
I'm sure the logic a lot people used was simply that since noone builds it and noone built it in Dota 1 (without knowing how it used to work) the item can't be good.

Eh, i seem to remember that a lot of the arguments were "the numbers weren't good enough and the maelstrom is a lot better for farming".
I suppose you could still make the argument about farming, though.

The math isn't overwhelmingly convincing no and we're not talking about 1-1 comparisons of mechanics, they do different things and things like upgrade paths have to be considered, it's something only a bunch of pro players "like yourself" find out after time. If you want to challenge everyone who's said builds aren't "great" on this forum you're going to be here for a long time. If people were saying, "Aui is a moron why is he building that stupid item," sure, cling on to that. You had a different build, a lot of people questioned it, the build and yourself proved it wrong. Circle complete.

I suppose you could still make the second argument, hoewver.
That's what I mean, Armlet vs Radiance is a diferent discussion, where the way the game is played plays a bigger role. Armlet vs Maelstrom was the discussion between similar items in similar games, so it was more about numbers than playstyle. People just thought Maelstroms numbers were better when they really weren't, and a lot of it was skewed by the perception that whathever is played more often is superior.

I'm saying people such as yourself need to learn to think critically when new things come out instead of blindly flaming a build.
If people slowly start doing that for things like manta brood mael bear now armlet bear, don't you think forum discussion would get better? Trust me, I rarely care about what people think about me, but I do like reading good forum discussions.
also: the numbers were overwhelmingly in favour of armlet. I just didn't make a pubic argument for it because players were still being stupid and not making armlet.

I think the type of mentality you're talking about comes around because people do little more than copy the best players. If the best players do something, people will do it. For example I always thought orchid on lifestealer was really good, because in comparison to some other midgame items commonly bought on him it does more; but it wasn't until very recently until people actually started building it on him, since pros started realizing it is good.
Same thing goes for carry vs ganker tiny and stuff like that-people see lanm build butterfly on tiny and for a week think that carry tiny absolutely 100% needs butterfly.
Isn't orchid as an item just broken atm anyways? I'm kinda hoping for some kind of nerf come 6.78. It just does too many things too well for too little gold.

I think people such as yourself need to start taking minor forum posts into context. You honestly believe I blindly flame every new build I see? I don't, I thought that one was because the differences seemed too minimal to give up on chain lightning and later building mjollnir. It's not blind, and more importantly, it's just a forum post. And even more importantly, what I said was hardly flaming unless you somehow think saying hipster to someone who keeps on building things others don't is saying that you're a terrible child murderer. Honestly I like seeing new builds, and that's the reason I liked watching your play specifically. But if everyone was going to spend 10 hours researching something before saying if they think an item or skill build is the new shit then this forum would be empty. What you're looking for is a pro only forum, which this isn't.
And if you think that the numbers were in your favour what are you bringing up 4 month old posts from random forum posters to point out that people were wrong? I thought your point was that 'everyone thought I was wrong and now they're banning it in tournaments'.
