We can take a look at both Dendi and Singsing, both of which have TERRIBLE personalities on stream. For the sake of the argument, Sing_Sing trolls every pub he plays, feeds 10 rapiers for every 1 rapier demon feeds, and completely disregards teammates during normal MMing. You can say whatever you want about this, but he essentially ruins mming for 4-9 other people, which is something people accuse Demon of doing. Yet Sing_Sing maintains massive popularity among the masses for his antics. Then look at Dendi. The guy flames literally every single pub match he plays in, berating his teammates and simply not giving a damn about anything. The amount of flame coming out of Dendi would outpace Demon's flaming 1000:1, and yet he's the most popular player in Dota. You can say whatever you want about their skills, and sure, Dendi is a better play than Demon, but at the end of the day, alot of the hate at Demon has simply become, hate Demon because he's demon, and not for any real rational reasons. If people REALLY cared about manners and behaving as a professional, the shit Dendi does on a daily basis would never fly. Not sure how many people followed WC3 dota, but Dendi has been a historically bad mannered player that constantly flames his teammates, and yet somehow he gets a free pass in Dota2 thanks to public perception. Some of us don't care for any of the players you mentioned, for the exact reasons you mentioned. ![]()

I'm pretty sure it comes down to the individual, not the player. Even Chinese players can be BM (not during matches as much, but its more of a profession over there).

The next step would be to flame.

There are a reason many pros have come and gone and not wanted to team up with fear, and it's because DeMoN is attached. Puppy has probably been the most vocal about this. You can also see gems of DeMoN talking to fear (while streaming for some reason) where he gives speeches about how bad his teammates are and how he will have to carry them, or he has to boot them and all this other junk. This was during the bulba era and it was very obnoxious. Aside from a few big plays here and there vs 2nd tier competition, demon hasn't been a top player in any role: mid or suicide, in dota 2. Not even in the western scene. The best thing that will come from demon retiring (if its true) is fear can truly build something around himself without any drama attached. You realize that 1. Demon was joking/poking fun 2. Lots of people don't want to play with each other due to past shit. Merlini and Fear will never play with each other regardless of Demon. I'm sure some people don't want to play with Puppey. + Show Spoiler + especially after he called merlini a "faggot" over twitter 3. A lot of people would consider Demon a top tier suicide laner. And there's not enough talent in NA for fear to rebuild in NA from scratch. Truth is demon and the rest of EG are probably better than all of the free agents in NA. Also, I don't know why Universe left EG in the first place. I don't mean to flame bdiz, but universe is significantly better than bdiz.

Kipsate probably said it best that Demon is actually quite good but inconsistently so. I don't think it's actually reasonable to argue that he's a bad player. Demon and Idra actually have a few parallels. Idra had a reputation for being an ill-mannered, raging, "bad boy" in sc2. Demon's known for being a goofy, "yolo," clown in dota 2. Neither player is considered "bad" by any means and everyone who know them personally agree that their online persona isn't representative of their actual personality.

I'd advise ppl trying him, his heal is pretty broken in early skirmishes and can even counter ganks pretty nicely. I've been putting in some games as tree, and his weaknesses: he's a terrible safe lane support, his nuke doesn't slow enough (24%), slows for a small duration (3 seconds), not to mention has terrible range. He cannot help kick a hard laner out. Unless your team already has high burst that benefits highly from his ult, he has to max leech seed to do any damage, which means low level living armor/nature's guise. His spells have terrible range. Nature's guise, 300 range? Leech seed 350, I mean if you don't have living armor up, you're asking to take massive damage to get in range to cast (and often this will force you to break invis). The ult radius is decent, but to get off a really good one, they have to go on your team, or you need blink/force staff. Overall you desperately need some decent upgraded boots to get off your spells, which costs a lot of money for a support/offlane. Seriously, if his spells had like 500-600 cast range, he would be so much easier to use. It makes me want to go rod of atos on him so he can do something from afar. Your team has to learn how to play with tree as well as you. If you play treant, you will nature's guise people, and they will not know the 375 invis break range and will break nonstop. Second, they might demand that you guise them, but they'll be running away from you and not understanding you have a 300 cast range. You need at least level 2 nature's guise if you want to invis multiple people for strategic ganks/counterganks. Level 1, 15 second duration, 10 second cd, is only useful for saving people/using it on yourself. So if you want to set up nyx counterganks/bh, you might have to skip a level of leech seed damage. His pluses. He can offlane, but there's better choices, which fits in nicely with my next point. He should be great if one team is running an offensive trilane, even if he's not the one running it. A lot of heroes that could not handle it can with living armor. I mean a lot of heroes can't handle a solo clinks offlane, but with living armor, a lot of heroes would work. That means you might want to put treant in a defensive (as in composition, like a sand king or visage) trilane. His level 4 heal is a 300 (small) aoe heal with a 10 second cooldown. Mek is like 45 seconds, 250 heal in comparison. Of course, your allies will tend to kill the creeps you're leech seeding, getting back to my team needs to understand the hero point. Kind of a plus: his ult does no damage, which is nice against nyx.
