Interview with LightOfHeaven by Empire.TV (rough translation). Warning: shitty english.

+ Show Spoiler +
Welcome everyone, today my guest is Dmitriy "LightOfHeaven" Kupriyanov. Good evening, Dmitriy!
-Hello.

Let's start with the most interesting question, your departure from Na'Vi. Can you briefly describe the situation?
-I went to do more interesting stuff than what we were doing in january-february.

Did you receive any offers from other teams?
-Yes i did, but that is a secret.

You said you went to do more interesting stuff, is that a secret too?
-No, i just want to try out stuff i always wanted to do.

For example?
-1st it is studying, 2nd is entertainment and 3rd is meeting interestion people.

You said you are going inactive, right?
-Yes

Do you plan to return to Dota?
-When the game will be worth the candle
.
Will you play for Na'Vi again?
-I will play with those with whom it will be more interesting and more pleasant. It can be any team.

What can you say about the new Na'Vi roster.
- It is an internation team with captain Clement and 4 very skilled players who want to win, right on only on individual skill.

Will they be successfull?
-Time will tell.

What can you say about this roster change situation?
-Before the TI3 you must try as more players as possible to find the best. Right now most of the CIS teams try to find player based on their "star" status (how long he played, where he played), but Virtus.pro went a different way, they took 2 unknown players and now they are showing the best results in CIS, they are growing and developing.

What can you say about the current CIS scene. Empire, Rox.kis, 3Dclan, Na'Vi. What can you say about theire prospects.
-Na'Vi has a great potential, but they will need to work hard to play as a one unit, as a team. Empire is a very stable team which plays very robust, proven strategies, but i want to see more novelty, more surprises, more action from them. Virtus.pro have my respect, they play very interesting, unsusual strategies, sometimes fascinating and are progressing very fast as a team, unlike other two teams. For 1 year, skillwise, Na'Vi went down as a team, Empire stayed at the same level, but Virtus.pro grew. The Defence 3 results are self explanatory. Rox.kis and 3DClan want to have immediate results, find a player, play for 1-2 weeks, find another player and so on, usual CIS dota.

This is not the way to succes?
-It can be the way to succes if you play with good feelings, emotions and enjoyment. When you play and you feel good as a team, but if you have contradicting emotions then you will break up eventually.

You stoped playing professionally, but the practice show that people who spend so much time in esports can't leave that easily, are you playing anything right now or planning to play?
-Yes i am playing right now, and planning to play where it will be interesting and worth the candle. Right now in Europe, thanks to the roster shuffles, Na'Vi literally have nothing to do for 2 months, so i left, that was one of the reason i left, the second reason was that we stopped growing. The next push will be after TI3 when teams will realize they need to grow, like China. Then there will be more tournaments, more money, the community will grow, more competition, etc.

Do you plan to stream? You are a very famous player, a lot of people will love to watch your streams.
-If I will try HotS and I will have good results, then maybe i will start streaming Starcraft 2 HotS. Starcraft is one of the options. The recent IEM results say that there are work to be done to balance the game.

Thank you for this interview, good luck!

Feel free to make seperate threads for these kinds of translations, its worth a thread.

Interesting interview,

Its nice that he has so much respect for Vpro, definitely a team that has come a long way. It seems that LoH finds that China/TI3 is where it is at and that the Western competition is not quite up to par.

I do not feel like the translation is a s good as it should be, so i don't think it is worth a thread.

SC2 balance whine from LoH, that is something i wasn't expecting. Overall nothing really surprising. It seems he is also not really happy with how Dota is as a game right now, but I don't think that is something that will really change.

Well there's two obvious retorts to this:

1) She doesn't appear to be being used competitively either, as I pointed out.

2) Did I say the word balance? Game designers like to account for most levels of play to some degree. The fact that brood mothers is now sitting below a difficult character like meepo in PUG's should still raise some eyebrows.

You should have then started your discussion with data from dota-academy and not from dotabuff. Anti-Mage has a winrate of 41%. Does he need a buff? So yeah, bringing up pub-stats in the first place is wrong. Don't do it.

.

You don't understand statistic's if you think there wrong, there simply gathered data, which your choosing to interpret a certain way.

They are what they are. I did not make a comment on balance. I am merely disappointed that broodmother appears to be struggling in all levels of play both in disorganized pugs and at seeing play in tournaments.

As people have said here, she is a niche hero that doesn't quite fit into the metagame right now. Team Liquid has picked her several times in the last few weeks (EG vs TL comes to mind) and if I recall it has been quite successful. So if you really haven't seen her picked competitively, you obviously haven't looked hard enough.

She might need some help, but she does see play on the competitive level. She sucks in pubs because average players have no idea how to not feed spiderlings to their opponents.

Navi actually did a sickening smart move by not releasing LoH from his contract despite not using him. That way if a team is formed later, they will less likely to achieve enough result to get direct invite into TI3, reducing the competition. With the rumor of ArtStyle planning to make a come back, no one know if a new strong team could rise out of the blue.

So you mean pretty much every SF game. He's my favourite hero, but I never play him anymore, because it's not fun sitting behind your tower, waiting for that ES to go away.

Sf is probably one of the best heroes to pubstomp with...

In the trench or with a tryhard 5 stack maybe. He's second only to Meepo in heroes weaknesses of which every pubber knows how to abuse and is just itching to upon seeing him picked. Unlike Meepo he's still fun though regardless.

Even in Soloqueue, just look at sf games of pros, they will be completely raping everything in the majority of them (the minority is games where they enemys went fullretard and focused all their efforts on shutting down sf).

It's not that I think he's a bad hero or that anything like that, I have 56% winrate across 300 games or something like that, so the hero is obviously working for me, but it's just not enjoyable to get completely shut down, without being able to do much about it, if the enemy team decides to gank you a lot, which happens fairly often.

This is like the second coming of puzzy wuzzy.

Also i love SF in pubs for his recovering ability and strong 1v1.

Im curious, what exactly can SF do to recover? He's dependent on gaining levels and stacking soul count to force his opponent out of the lane. You can stack the small camps to recover but aside from that, what makes him a "strong" hero to recover with?

If you can get blink or lothars than this shouldn't be a problem. If you're shut down before reaching either, I agree 100%

Yeah... I really doubt that. Na'Vi is getting a TI3 invite, there's no discussion about that. I would like to ArtStyle come back, but only in a LGD.int-style team training in China. He is in no doubt extremely talented, but has problems with dedicating himself a lot, which should be solved in China. ArtStyle, LoH, AA + 2 training in China, that would be SICK...

edit: If this hypothesis of yours was true, wouldn't they rather keep AA under contract, since he wants to keep playing DotA, rather than LoH, who wants to retire??

Built in low cooldown creep-clearing ability. A less than ideal start on SF can still allow you to farm insanely fast if given a bit of room past the laning phase. And he doesn't need anything but level 7 for this.
To compare, if an AM has a shitty earlygame he wont recover fast, because he needs his Bfury to start getting forward and farming.

If repeatedly ganked after laning phase he obviously wont recover, he also needs the space to do so. It's not perfect, but it can work in pubs.
From the Ghastly Eyrie I can see to the ends of the world, and from this vantage point I declare with utter certainty that this one is in the bag!

You just play very defensively and farm. You can catch up very quickly by farming with your razes, raze a couple of creep waves go into the jungle, raze a few camps, go back in lane, raze a creep wave, clear the jungle again, tp to a lane that is now pushed, etc.

Unless the other team also has a hero that can farm very quickly (like AM), you'll probably be able to catch up and do ok in the later stages of the game.

So Twitch can now require you to connect your Twitch account with you Facebook account in order to post comments in the chat. I hope this doesn't find its way into Dota 2 channels, I occasionally enjoy writing stupid shit in Twitch chats and have no interest whatsoever in Twitch having access to my Facebook account. Like wtf... how does that make any sense at all?

Maybe to prevent those people who "write stupid shit" in the chat channels? Twitch chat is the worst place to be after youtube's comment section.

Usually i dislike facebook integration, but i'm fine with this if it does the job. But i'm also sure that it will be optional because there are people who doesn't use or even have facebook.
