I'm watching talkdota atm and Tobi's constant questioning about "so team X picked hero Y, so we're looking at new meta now? But nothing changed about Hero Y" is so ridiculously stupid, it's driving me insane. Kuro was pointing out the right thing tho.
Chill really hates when people use 'meta' or 'metagame' to refer to common strategies and not its actual meaning.
Well, thanks for telling me. The thing which me drives me crazy however is this stupid thing "Why is *hero* suddenly picked,while nothing changed about him?" People read way too much into it. It's all about trends, seeing what's popular and copying it, because you see other teams winning with it. Felt like getting this off of my chest after some years now.

Please, tobi has always been someone that is more interested in having more viewer numbers than anything else. Pissing off Navi members on his shown would be the last thing he does.
If anything, this makes him lose viewers. This can mean some people stop watching because they won't get answers, while waiting until the end just to receive a "no comment" would be all he can do and wouldn't really make a diference.
I guess all the four on talkDOTA talked together about what the topics were going to be and Kuro and Puppey told him "we can't talk about us going to china and AA and LoH leaving Na'Vi". Now at this situation, what the fuck do you expect Tobi to do? Tell them "no, we're going to talk about that" that's not how it works... he can't boss them around, they're his guests.

Are you quoting someone? Because starladder had over 50k sim. viewers. Dread, Dendi streaming get easy 8k viewers. You have to be blind to not see that Russian speaker are the bigger market. Atm.

That said even English streams for group stage online tournaments are getting better numbers than most StarCraft tournaments nowadays. And most of those have Russian streams up at the same time. While in StarCraft I'm sure they have partly Russian speaking viewerbase as well that they're not ignoring the numbers of.
There is no need to point it out because I think people know why MLG doesn't pick up Dota(and yes, it ain't pretty).
Russians/CIS are definitely atleast equal if not bigger then the rest of the Western scene, even taking into account people who watch v1lat I doubt it would be that big.(More people watch English then Korean casts too for Starcraft).
Remember, its the last Western bastion that holds against the superior moba.

The numbers really aren't looking bad though in all honesty. For a market that is "dominated" by the other game, Dota's numbers are actually pretty good. 300k people online in game at the same time, and consistently good streamer numbers (admittedly only on a small number of streams though). It's a good start, though we'll see how it comes along this August.
