IRC chatter should remain in IRC - http://webchat.quakenet.org/?channels=tl.dota2

Posts that relate to topics with their own thread, such as in News, Tournaments or Strategy should go in those threads.

Items build for weaver:

- Aquila > Powertread > Drum > Crystalis > Daedalus > Bkb > Etc...

Radiance Rush: Radiance is old school build. Weaver is too squishy. You can be burst down so fast in team fight before you can do Time Lapse.

Linken Build/Vanguard : Linken does give Weaver alot of survivability but it does not give him enough damage.

Build:

Maxing Shukuchi is given. I put 1 point of the Swarm at level 4 and then max out Germinate. Some would argue that max the Swarm first but you only need to land it or 2-3 heroes and then most of your damage would come out Germinate. With Aquila, Drum and Power Tread, you hit hard enough with just level 1 Swarm. Beside the Swarm has too high a cool down, you can not really spam it at all. However the Swarm give you vision of the enemy hero if you land it on them. You dont proc crit from Germinate but Daedalus itself gives alot of damage. The Crystalis build up is cheap enough during early-mid game.

IMO, Weaver needs farm to become a threat like all carries (which he is) yet as opposed to his peers, Weaver can actually harass extremely well considering shaku-invisi whatever's spammability + low mana cost. Believe it or not, even the Beatle swarm does ALOT also since it can give you some sick tower dives opportunities.

Yet he's easily kill able without any good survivability items and will generally die due to his hp and atrocious STR gain without even a single opportunity to even use time lapse (any decent stun will kill weaver imo without hp). He's mildly good against invis detection items except gem because of his sukuichi (w.e) movement speed to escape sentry ward or time lapsing dust off.

That item build is assuming you are a safelane farmer etc. (edit, this was directed at AkalineMess.) If you're a hardlane weaver with limited farm, medallion suddenly becomes an amazing option. Something like treads + aquila/urn + medallion and you will already hit like a truck.

Maxing swarm/germinate (after sukuchi) is situational. Obviously you should always have at least one point in both of them at lvl 4, but after that it's best to look at how the team is going. If your team is trying to create teamfights as much as possible then max out swarm first, if your team is focusing on ganking lone heroes around the map then germinate.

If you don't feel you have the experience to make the judgement call whether you need germinate or swarm then get 1 point of swarm at lvl 4 and max germinate.

I mostly played offlane weaver so I can tell ya PT/Aquila/Drum is easy to get.

Another tip: You can dodge projectile stun with Shukuchi like Sven's Stun or VS Stun.

Buriza's more expensive by 400 gold (significant). Also if you're worried about squishiness, wraith band + jango gives less hp than a vit booster. Or power treads upgrade + jango gives less hp than wraith band + vit booster.

Edit: For some reason you can't dodge chaos knight stuns, you get to sit there invisible.

Finally, after so many losses, I have learned to play Weaver.

H-h-how are you supposed to play him!

Edit: Sorry if that came across as sarcastic or mean in anyway. I'm being serious. Weaver is such a fun to play hero for me, but I seem to always lose with him.

Play cautious in lane, you can harass and kill 1 and leave alot more after you get your time lapse, skill build is just R>W>Q>E -> stats, but get one point in e at lvl 2, or maybe one more at lvl 4, geminate attack -> shukuichi -> another geminate attack is alot of burst early in the game

Aquila and power treads solve most midgame issues for me, I heard someone in this thread saying medallion was sick on him and I could easily see that being true if you need some early midgame teamfight or if you're getting pooped on in lane, it's so much better to get aquila, wraith and treads early and just make shit go happen.

regarding big items.. Probally the place where most disagree on how to build weaver since alot of it is out of personal prefrence..
I know alot of people really hate linkens on him but I'm a fan of it as long as there are 2-3 targetted nukes or crowd controls, really fucking helps imo, and I play a good amount of weaver with good succes, but maybe I could do better if I didn't? If I dont get it I would look at a manta style, where I'd get the ultimate orb before yasha, the ultimate orb is just so fucking powerful on a low stat gain hero like weaver, even Skadi can be sweet vs a naix or, since he cannot really catch you, ever.
Regarding boots, I've thought of how to implement a meaningful ring of health into my build so those 350 gold wouldnt be a waste of tranquils, since I do the offlane weaver, the extra regen that makes a RoH / perseverance -> linkens desireable.
Other than that.. crit feels wasted on weaver as it doesn't work with geminate attack, desolator might be something interesting I haven't really tried it out (swarm minus armor + deso? theorycrafting.. theorycrafting).
My build usually goes (assuming longlane): slippers, observer wards, 2 branches and salve + tango -> aquila / treads -> linkens -> mbk and then either HoT, manta or butterfly, I don't experiment as much as I should ^^

to not write a novel: Neglect radiance on weaver, it wastes his midgame potential as weaver needs to be above 1k health at the 15-20 minute mark for teamfights, or the damaging part of your shukuichi / swarm skills will just become utillity skills for the lategame, and there'd be no point even more than a point in swarm early if you go radiance, since the tankiness from stats would be more helpful.
Also, weaver is not a standalone carry for the lategame, weaver can do well vs melee carries 1v1 by kiting but what you really wanna do is shukuichi in (flanking, is usually the best in case they have detection), pickoff a support who's in the back or damage it, and then time lapse out to be safe. Remember to keep moving in teamfights, the time lapse can be a free blink-back-to-where-you-were as much as it can restore your health after a quick burst

In the woods, there lurks..

Yeah, I was referring to the daedalus after that. PT/aquila/drums is very good no matter what, I was just advocating medallion as an alternative.

I really like desolater on weaver instead of crit as the first damage item.
I don't play him a lot because of random but he is one of my favorite carry heroes

Or you could go next-level and save that slot for flasks since weaver is so hit-and-run oriented.

thats lothars
it's okay if you're actually gonna teamfight and your team is coordinated but otherwise there's no reason to buy drums on weaver

Would rather stack some mystic staffs for better eblade damage and mana than get Refresher on Tinker tbh.

This. For some reason people follow squiggly lines on the minimap more than text/speech, even if they understand English.

But then if they say you didn't call miss, you can't prove that you did!

The thing is people who complain about "no miss noob mid" complain even if it is in the chatlog to justify their flaming. Because being in the "right" while lying is better than admitting a mistake. Flamers gonna flame etc...^^
