AR is like playing a different game, people seem to mostly accept whatever they get and just play it. And i think valve's AR works different than just having everyone random... I haven't had or faced a 5 carry or 5 support team, the teams seem to be kind of balanced and not completely lost right away.
From the Ghastly Eyrie I can see to the ends of the world, and from this vantage point I declare with utter certainty that this one is in the bag!

Pretty sure wc3 dota AR had some rules, like 1 int 1 str , 1agi 1 range, but I might be thinking of some other mod

Nope. WC3 AR was completely random as far as I'm aware.

I also have not experienced blatantly poor AR comps with DotA 2.

I've had a few 5 carry games already, so nope, nothing special over there ^_^

Guess i've been lucky then, AR 2 fun anyway.
I random 90% of my AP games, so having everyone else random just puts everyone in the same situation.

I know SD had that, but there are a lot more modes that have such restrictions too, like -vr, vote random had something too I think

i liked the advantage of having random gold starting items vs an enemy without the random gold
that doesn't happen in AR though

Randoming in AP gave me warlock in 25% of my games over the course of the past weeks.
I don't mind playing warlock, but too many games of him in a row ): One game i ended with drums, necro, refresher and aghs. Those teamfights were funny.

DOUBLE DOUBLE DEMONS DOUBLIFIED.
HAVE YOU EVER SEEN THIS MANY DEMONS?

No warlock in AR so far, thank god.

They might have some sort of rule for AR in terms of having a minimum of 1 int hero, 1 str, 1 agi, etc. I know in dota 1 there wasn't any rules like that.. Because I remember way back getting 5 melee str line-ups and just face-palming after the randoms were given out.. Or getting AM, Spec, Void, and Jugg randomed on my team.

In terms of Dota 2, I have had the same experience with rather balanced randoms.. Thus far since AR was implemented I have had pretty much always balanced line-ups with my team. Last AR I played my team comp was: Warlock, Sniper, Medusa, Chen, Brewmaster. So one of each attribute. And the other team that game also had the same.. Pretty balanced line-up.

AR seems rigged. 3 games I've played, 3 meepos. :D Luckily, the one time he was on my team, I convinced the guy to repick and the enemy kept him both times. 3 easy wins, lol.

Has anyone ever read the lore for Troll Warlord?

It's an easy thing to offend a troll. A prickly and contentious race, trolls thrive on argument and strife, missing no excuse to raise their voices in dispute. Males grow to maturity in subterranean chambers beneath their matriarch's domicile, feeding and amusing themselves while contributing nothing. Often they stay for years beyond the age of maturity, while the matriarch provides them with sustenance. When young trolls are finally pushed from their sub-chamber, they gather with others of their kind, forming roving gangs of malcontents who complain loudly about all manner of vexation.
As much as trolls love to argue, imagine how rare it is for a troll to be driven from his own kind for being too difficult to get along with. Such was Jah'rakal's fate, a monger troll from deep in the Hoven. So deluded was he, so bitter and abrasive, that even other trolls found his company intolerable. After one particularly vitriolic outburst in which he claimed the lion's share of loot from their latest raid, his cohorts finally snapped. They turned on him, beat him with clubs, and drove him from the encampment. Enraged at his banishment, he returned the next day, armed with steel, and slew them all, one by one. He then swore a blood oath: he would ever after be a fighting force unto himself. Now he roams the world as the Troll Warlord, bitter and angry, the Imperial high commander of an army of one.

I wonder what Valve means by "troll"...
