TBH I don't *know* it works with 3 ppl since I'm sure valve saw this coming, but I still think it *should* work with 3 ppl. Either way, just make a new smurf, pick the "I'm newb" option and use him as a 4th to balance it nicely (should put the best player with the smurf). EZPZ.
