Their website could use an update though I think by saying at the cost of competitors, he is saying they set a standard that isn't easily achieved, resulting in the failure of a lot of new startups. | ||

I mean, yeah they make mistakes every once in awhile with streaming (yeah, and having no caster for the defense was horrible), but high quality casting isn't a problem. Also, BTS is getting a good viewer number these days. | ||

It isn't like they were terrible, they just didn't act in the manner that they claimed. They talked all about community and wanting to see dota grow, and then went off and aggressively tried to funnel everybody through their own site. I guess the part that bothered me was how aggressive they were at saying "go to JoinDota" and "visit the JoinDota forums", without ever shouting out to playdota, or dotacommentaries, or some other newer organizations (who could clearly use the publicity). For a while, Tobi was the Day[9] of Dota 2. Pretty much, THE non-pro-player name in the game. While Day[9] is careful to plug sponsors, players, organizers AND himself, tobi went on camera and plugged JD, JD forums, and himself non-stop. Thats all. I just got tired of it. Sorry for the long rant, I don't really harbour any particular ill-will to JD, I just don't consume any of their content anymore, and I have my reasons. | ||

It's hard for many to understand that businesses are businesses. People expect so many things. Dota 2 scene is so very new, but we are all impatient beings. It upsets me when the negativity could turn-off some orgs from working hard to do things for the community. | ||

I feel bad for you, I live in a landscape often nicknamed "Pampas" because of the similarity of the flatlands and the big farm fields. Luckily I don't have to travel far to get away and I live in Europe anyway so it's not really much of a problem. I have vacationed many times in BC and Alberta, and going through the Rockie mountains makes me want to move so bad. I have been to PEI as well, and just like BC it is absolutely beautiful. I don't know if any Dota 2 tournaments happen in Canada though? TI2 in Seattle is close enough I guess. Some sc2 tournaments have made it to Canada, but not all too often. | ||
