Reason I ask is I'm tempted to queue CM more, but I'm sort of worried of ending up as Captain. I queued it once a while back and it was a hell of a lot of fun; decent teamwork and stuff. Ended up on a hero I'd never played until that point and thought the draft was pretty weird but it synergised well in the end and we won. But personally I'm not entirely confident in my own drafting ability (having never done it before).

Not really answering your question, at all, but I'm really glad how self aware you are and your willingness to learn. The worst thing ever is having a group of 4 (which I often do) and then the random 5th is captain, knows nothing about it, and takes directions poorly. We often enjoy having a random pub fifth in CM, most people who queue CM have some wits about them, but they need to change the system so that the largest group has the captain.

In related to your question, there's a pretty good blog about drafting here; http://www.team-dignitas.net/articles/blogs/DotA/2064/DotA-2-Understanding-Captains-Mode-Draft-in-Competitive-Games/ To get good at drafting I guess the best way is perhaps just to practice, not really come up with any pocket strategies but just try to always get a solid line up if possible which is based around the strategy you would like to follow. There doesn't really need to be that much synergy in a line up, as long as you've at least got an idea how to lane your heroes because the worst thing that a captain can really do is (which often actually happens in pubs I might add) is that there is quite the synergy in teamfights and so on but there's no possible way to actually win in the laning stage. If you can't win the laning stage on any front it doesn't really matter if you have really good teamfight synergy because then it's just really hit or miss and often the latter. Not really related directly to your problem here but what you could do after you've learnt proper compositions and how to draft properly as well is to use this site which could come in handy if you really want to get into it; http://dota2draft.the-cluster.org/

You really don't get better at it until you start doing it yourself, and analyzing mistakes / bad drafts. Edit: its totally better to queue CM with friends (obviously).

They do send out warnings on other cases as far as I know, so there is a reason why they sometimes choose not to do it. I also have not heard of many other cases where bans are overtuned and the content is restored, from what people say it's pretty rare. Overall it didn't seem like just another unimportant channel being closed down, and that was what I thought was strange. Usually YT warns you 3 times before shutting down your chanel, Joindota didn't listen the first 2 and they got punished by the third.

They said they were never warned about it. That's why I said it was strange. That and the fact it was restored. Ussually if you keep doing whatever they don't want you to do and get the third strike, it's gone for good.
