yes, although both games yesterday night that i played provided me enough space to farm up to a radiance, i went diffusal for both games (12 min tranquil + aquila + diffusal) and it snowballed so hard as i got aggressive once i got my diffusal. had like 19 minute tranquil + aquila + diffusal 2 + butterfly iirc. radiance was NOT required :p
edit: oh yes, and i farmed without a quelling blade. last hitting wasn't as hard as i thought :p started off with tango + 2 ring of protection + 3x gg branches

I just crushed this lane with Veno + Skele. Everytime the Kotl got too close Skele would just throw a stun on him and we would dive in on him. The PL didn't do enough damage to force us off. Might be worth a shot especially in pubs where the Kotl will stray more often then in comp. games.

Doom is nice if you can get rolling but if you get ganked even once or twice you get super behind  .

Spectre's not like PL who can get Diffusal and still maintain reasonable farming speed. Even if you go for a midgame teamfight build, you're very often going to have to transition back onto Radiance to keep up your tempo if the game stalls out.

Very true. Yes PL >> Spectre in pubs but still, I do love hitting A then clicking into the enemy team. It gives me time to fetch a beer, do my taxes, read the forums, ect and 20 seconds later VIOLA successful teamfight. PL has all those illusions you might feel the urge to micromanage. Eww.
So, I've played Midas enchantress, that PL build everyone loves, and that same build on spectre. Any more ideas?

What build are you talking about?
And yeah, I just played Spectre and was a good game, but I don't know if it was because I farmed well or because my team mates carried me. I did the "tankish" build (drums, aquila, treads, wand, vanguard) and was able to survive a lot of team fights because of it. Then I finished it off with Diffusal first, and then Manta towards the end.
BTW, I played against an Axe who went soul booster and spammed battle hunger. Pretty effective in team fights especially on the frail supports.
