Questions for an enquiring mind:
1. Will Dota 2 match, surpass or lag behind LoL in raw player numbers? How about as an eSport platform?
2. How different is Dota 2 from Dota 1? Are there new heroes and items? Is it just the same game with a graphical face lift?
3. Will there ever be additional maps for Dota 2?
4. What do you feel is the best way to play Necrolyte? Something about the hero clicks with me but I want to refine my play. Ganking is difficult with him unless you can ult a retreating tank or something. I tend to play him as a semi-support, with a focus on Mechanism / Death Pulse healing during team engagements. Any ideas?

After TI2, IceFrog has introduced a major new version. Do you think that within months, this new version will affect the games meta?
I feel that this version's fast metagame is temporarily, because we cannot find a suitable way of playing this version.
xiao8 droppin' the knowledge bomb O_o... thats some sick prediction considering what we are facing right now.

If you trust the numbers from people behind one of the clients hosting DotA games in china, DotA is somewhat bigger if we also trust riot's numbers and then compare the two

Any ideas? Necrolyte needs farm and isn't a good ganker without his ulti and help from allies. He's not a support, he should honestly be built incredibly tanky so he can just survive and fuck up his enemies. Basically, necro needs farm for more or less the same reasons as DP, although they don't fill the exactly same roles.

What's this thing about more maps? Specifically for normal styled DotA, or more maps like DireTide for seasonal events

Oh.
That's underwhelming.

DotA2 tower defense. DotA2 vampirism. So on.

1) It all depends on how China reacts to the new Dota. NA/EU alone will not push it up to or past LoL numbers. Competitively, I'm optimistic due to the commitment valve has shown with the International tournaments.
2) They are very, very close to identical, barring a few niche interactions/bugs and some heroes that have not been ported yet. The items are the same and the heroes are all from Dota 1.
3) Unknown. AFAIK it depends on when IceFrog decides that it is OK to stop updating Dota 1 (which is obviously just a map itself, technically). He promised that he would upkeep it though so that may not happen. On the other hand, people are clamouring for a map editor to make pudge wars etc, so maybe that will be how it happens.
4) Ideally, he is a farmer that transitions into a midgame teamfight/push strat. He also scales fairly well with HP and mana, so he can be played as a carry, but obviously he isn't going to go toe to toe with an Anti-Mage 50 minutes into the game. He is, however, very good at farming. His key issue is mobility, since he isn't fast, and has no way to slow/stun opponents outside of his ultimate. He does a ton of damage (and heal) but relies upon his team for crowd control.
Edit: apparently I'm pretty wrong regarding maps

1. No idea, depends wheter masses move from Dota 1, if majority does it will be a serious contender or surpass and if not then it will probably still end up as decently big. Especially with all the new blood flooding in from steam.
2. Pretty close to straight port into another engine, still doesn't have all the stuff Dota 1 has, but some minor changes and overall UI updates have been made. Also the whole platform with matchmaking, spectating (great tools btw), match history etc.
3. If it's like other Source based games, it will have proper moddability, I just hope they release tools soon enough and have proper support for custom map lobbies etc. can't wait for Pudge Wars and other WC3 custom remakes.
4. Quite farm dependant hero, he benefits a lot from becoming super tanky (like Death Prophet) and just staying alive in a teamfight to lob those heals, keeping aura up and his Ult is very good to take down already focused enemy or to stop BKB protected channels/escape teleports (Stun goes through even if damage does not). While you can play him as low position, most other heal having heroes support lanes generally better than him, not to mention his reworked passive is just ridiculous if you manage to finish off a creepwave mid fight. I once outregened Venomancer's all poisons while escaping on low health after managing a kill and a wave clear.

Just been called an Anglo Saxon by a Russian guy. Made him mad by playing Jakiro

#1 all revolves around China. If Valve/Perfect World can distribute and support the game well in China, it stands a good chance of being bigger than LOL worldwide.
#2 It's pretty much the same game with better graphics, matchmaking, cosmetic items, etc. Nothing that changes the core of the game but tons of things that enhance it.
#3 Maybe, I don't think anyone knows yet. Certainly we are looking at the beta for a new game mode with Diretide.
#4 The best way is usually something like Phase or Treads/Mek/Pipe/Sheepstick. You want a solo lane generally because he tends to fall behind badly without lots of XP.
He's a really good pusher/farmer (hit the ranged creep once, a melee creep besides the one your creeps are focusing a couple times, press q, money money) and decent teamfighter. Ganking is not his forte unless someone else can stun. His ult has a big windup so you can cast it before the enemy is at the health threshold and they'll die if they pass under said threshold before the scythe arrives.
You can also do a slightly more niche build with Phase/Drum/Euls where you move super fast (and can cyclone yourself) and are hard to kill because of that. It can keep you alive and casting Death Pulse for a real long time.
