Kind of like pudges level1 rot/ axe's low level battlehunger right? You can just pot through them. Probably one of the funniest things you can do in dota is 1v1 a level1rot pudge and just pot while he isn't attacking you. He won't want to draw the creep agro by hitting you and you can pot through the rot damage.

What do you mean?

From the wiki about Healing Salve:
"Will not be dispelled if the damage is less than 20 after reductions. HP Removal based spells will also not dispel it. "
This was true in Dota 1 and is true in Dota 2.

Pretty sure one in salve is enough to stop a salve. It's 30 magic damage, 30 *.75 = 22.5.
It takes more than 20 real damage to cancel a salve/bottle regen. There's some other obscure rules like Pudge rot doesn't cancel salves until level 4, apparently.
edit: There are reasons to go 2 in SS, the main one being that it makes the CD effectively the same as the duration. The damage increase is nice as is the 30% slow. The slow from SS may guarantee kills in other lanes more effectively than the burst from scream. It's just that all regen (from runes/bottles/salves) gets canceled by level one SS, that's not why people are doing it.

This was true in Dota 1 and is true in Dota 2. Shadow Strike is 30 damage per tick at rank 1 though. Even with heroes' base 25% reduction that's more than enough to stop salves.

and yet qop's shadow strike does 30 duration dmg and 50 initial dmg, so I really dont know why it shouldnt stop healing salve
|
Another reason people might be doing it is that her scream aoe got changed a while back to be the same at every level. Level 2 scream is 165 damage while level 3 is 225. Level 2 SS gives you +25 initial damage and + 50 damage over time in addition to a CD reduction (to 16 seconds) and 10% slow increase. So going level 2 SS gives you more damage in theory, just less burst.
In 6.73 - Scream of Pain AoE increased from 400/425/450/475 to 475.

Ah alright. The CD sounds like a good enough reason to do it.
How about getting scream @ 6 instaed of ulti? Or is that just mana problems/bottle flying etc. 2 in dagger 1 in blink 3 in scream is290 mana verse 2 dagger 1 blink 2 scream 1 ulti which is 530.
Daamge is 300 vs 590 though. I can't decide.
EDIT: ye but that is single target.. if you max Q you will always have more single target over time.

Eh, it's mostly preference but after trying both I prefer going up to level 4 sonar scream first. A lot less mana, can clear creep waves easier, etc. It's a really short cd too so if you're ganking you can still get another scream in with shadowstrike on the target.

Well he should be banned, just spamming like crazy.

What hero is that anyway? Potm?

I think its generic elf #15. Potm would be closest though

What do you guys think about visible KD/R? In a way, I would dig if most stats were hidden in retail even though a true ELO/MMR ranking system would be fun. I found the KD/R and true MMR system to be absolutely awful in HoN however. I played up to like ~1780 MMR and the focus was more on saving your personal stats and make them look good rather than playing as a team and win the game for MMR points.
|
I prefer no visible stats, if someone wants to know their KD/R they can check dotabuff and such, ingame it just makes people judge people by their KD/R, ontop of that KD/R makes no fucking sense because what if someone primarily plays supports? Yea his KD/R will fucking suck. I played HoN for a while and only played support with friends, anytime i played on my own i'd be judged because apparently not having a good KD/R as a support player made me a bad player.
|
Yeah the volume of stats available in HoN made some games go to shit before the pick even started...
|
valve say they filter players by percentile. I think that info should be released (i.e in which percentile are you in, like top 1% of total players). How they filter players souldnt be realeased tho, coz some might abuse the knowledge to get higher where they dont belong.

Hey guys I just started playing Dota 2 and have been reading the guides and stuff, but one thing that confuses me coming from LoL is the tower aggro. Can anyone explain to me how that works? Like sometimes I can be pushing a tower, there's no enemy heroes nearby (so i cant have accidentally hit them), theres plenty of friendly creeps around and i'm auto-attacking the tower, but sometimes the tower suddenly starts attacking me. how does that work?
