I've done like a 100 baalruns and i never was able to make it look that colorful and bright. Pretty impressive.
Anyway, I don't mind bright colors and stuff, as long as they keep the overall atmosphere gritty and sinister.
There are some good River of Flame shots as well that are very bright. All of act 2 was bright. blah blah blah.
I've played the whole game, i know what it looks like. It doesn't look cartoony and it doesn't make me facepalm like the demonhunter trailer.
I haven't even played the beta though, so I hope I'm wrong. It could be an amazing game, and I'm going to try it when it comes out. Just not looking very promising so far
I really, really do not know where this whole "OHHHH D2 was so dark and gothic and gory and creepy and scary!!" comes from. I played the game for years and NEVER got this feeling. Just dark. Sometimes.
People are overblowing this issue SO MUCH it's crazy. It's almost as ridiculous as the WoW Pandaren issue. Release pandas ---> "WAAAAAAAH!!! PANDAS ARE SO CHILDISH AND STUPID"... WTF? What patch in WoW are you playing I don't know about?
I believe D3 will have a lot of gore, and I agree that D2 wasn't scary at all.
CMOOOOOOON!@#!@#!@# Give us a release date already so i can plan my holidays around it pleeaaase!!! So excited but farrrr out this wait is so frustrating...

hopefully you'll be able to plan your 2012 holiday plans around it!

D3 opening looks too cartony and has no atmosphere. But that's what you get from a game that has giant leaping green frogs as a skill.
I really want this game to be good, but I'm starting to hate it oh so much
I agree diablo 3 is maybe too cartooni, but you hate a game because of graphics?
Graphics? I would play a 8-bit Diablo game, only if it retained all the atmoshpere and storyline of the game that we saw from Blizzard North.
Right now we have a dev team that doesn't know what to do with their rune system that was supposed to be the main aspect of the skill development, we have a day by day simplification of every single aspect of the game (just few days ago they concluded that tool tips give too much information that might confuse the players...), the Demon Hunter looks half way complete, not even that much, many skills look just silly, weapons shown so far are very lackluster and so on and so on...
Blizzard North was epic, D1's atmosphere (not mechanics) was absolutely fantastic.

Teenagers pretending they're adults is still the main demographic of the videogame industry. They pretend to be mature by whining like babies on things they consider childish. WoW is one of the few games that actually has a decently-sized adult demographic and it's funny how much hate it gets from teens talking about WoW "kiddies". It's the same thing with Facebook and iPhone games.
Anyway, teens often connote colorful with childish so that's where all the Diablo 3 complaints came from.

Did you say something about childish? Stating an honest opinion counts as whining like a baby now?
I said I have no problem with colorfulness. But this video is just silly

That post wasn't addressed at you specifically. And yes, the honest opinion of teenagers is frequently childish.
That video had nothing to do with the massive color debate that happened when some of the earlier D3 screenshots got released. That was what that guy was making fun of. That entire debate made me shake my head.

i might be alone in this but i didn't particularly like the intro cinematic... i felt the beginning half's action and feeling of "epicness" was dulled down by the use of stylized art even when animated... had it started off witht he drawings and evolved into full blown CGI i think woulda worked better...
the second half of the intro was bland...
and I really couldn't put my finger on why I didn't like this cinematic as a whole until just now... and i blame it on blizzard for releasing the cinematics out of order... watching this after already having seen the Black Soulstone movie diminishes this one's effectiveness... maybe that's just me
. And why is Leah shaking her ass so sexily while walking?
Super sexy cinematic! Can't wait to play the full game!

Also, the meteor is obviously Diablo. I mean, who else would be crashing the old Tristram church than him?
Obviously Diablo? Really? You are so sure that your willing to bet money on it? It could be any one of the Archangels of The Angiris Council, or one of the lesser evils. Hell, it may not even be a living being at all, it could be the Black Soulstone or something else entirely.
They were doing so well with the lineart Heaven vs Hell battle, but just had to ruin it with the nonsensical and cliche second part with Cain and the token female.

Still, you have to admit that Diablo 1 -> Diablo 2 -> LoD is a constant decline in terms of the original gothic atmosphere, and an increasing amount of typical fantasy cliches. This doesn't really have much to do with the colour scheme though.
Cgi is getting more and more real looking every time i see a major release. Pretty soon you wont even be able to tell the differences. The image in leah is so damn realistic. It is impressive to say the least. Have come a long way in the last 10 years thats for sure!
I do like that the cgi is getting better and better. But this introduction is really disappointing...and reminds me of how SC2's story and cinematics were done (for the most part). Everything just sounds like a typical Hollywood movie, there's no real depth or creativity. Just compare this to the videos made for Diablo 2...that was quality. It wasn't just the doom of the world is coming because of an ancient prophecy, followed by a bunch of monsters popping out. The only thing that didn't seem cliche was Cain getting hit by a meteor...except the problem with that is his survival makes no sense unless you try to wrack your brain thinking of crazy Horadrim magic or old-man dexterity that allowed an 80 year old man to survive. ARGH.
However I have to admit, the other video with the black soul gem was really well done, reminds me of warcraft 3 cutscenes. I hope they have more of that...just as long as the story is good too.

Though I can understand your assumption I can assure you that this isn't the case. I'm 23 and have played every game Blizzard has produced. Ever since WC3 I have been disappoint. I just don't like cartoon looking games. I feel it is childish. I would rather more realistic gaming. Blizzard games are still the best games out there. I will still buy them. It's just something I've never been fond of.

Pretty sure they had tattered leather and linen back then. Unless you are talking about the fact that she isnt literally in period clothing. In which case I could find you a lot of examples of this in Diablo 1, 2, and LOD.
