i have a EVGA 8400 GS, which i think isn't that great (i got it for 5 dollars including tax, after rebate YES), but all my other stuff like speed, ram, gets 7.9 experience rating, so i'm only worried about my graphics card.

If I remember right, they love to overvolt their RAM to settings like 1.7V on default >< It should be fine since the P7P55D has memOK (i think?), but watch out because anything higher than 1.65V on ram can hurt your CPU. thanks, good to know, fortunately it's only 1.5V according to it's official website http://www.adata.com.tw/en/product_show.php?ProductNo=AD31333U + Show Spoiler + A-DATA’s DDR3 1333 Unbuffered-DIMM module conforms to JEDEC standards. Using IC with 128Mx8 device / FBGA packaging, DDR3 1333 Unbuffered-DIMM is available in a choice of two memory capacity: 1GB or 2GB. The high stability of DDR3 1333 Unbuffered-DIMM makes it an ideal choice for PC users. Compare to DDR2 module which working voltage up to 1.8V, A-DATA’s new DDR3 module uses rather low working voltage of 1.5V, making it possible to reduce power loss by around 30% and become an environmental friendly product.

* CPU type:AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5200 * CPU Speed (GHz):2.713 * System memory (GB):3.249 * Graphics card model:NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT * Graphics card driver:nv4_disp.dll * Desktop resolution:1440x900 I'm guessing this will run SC2 on low-mid settings? Is there any specific part in my set-up that should be upgraded, like a bottleneck or w/e? edit: thanks FragKrag! ![]()

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-hd-5770,2446-4.html However, if you're feeling like it's not enough, go for a 450W or 500W Antec. They should be around the price of the Corsair since Corsair loves to overprice their PSUs (I love Corsair anyways though). Maybe you can find another 80 plus certified PSU.

crabapple, that is indeed a sorry video card :p. However, there are 'standard' measurements when it comes to video cards. Benchmarks are the best way to see how a video card will perform.

So I guess you're good to go! ^^ My video card said 600w, I think. oO

What resolution are you playing at? How upgradeable do you want the computer? Does it include peripherals (CD drives, keyboard, mouse)

edit: I guess the best way to say it is this: I have a friend who is looking for THE fastest, most gaming/performance efficient system he can get with a nice monitor/OS for 1k or under. Only three things he has that will carry over to this new system will be his wireless mouse/keyboard, and his speakers.

I am in actuality located in the United States, as is my friend Just to clarify again, it doesn't even necessarily have to be i5 750. I just used my limited knowledge to assume that that would be the target CPU for the sort of setup I am looking for

It is going to be impossible to get 2 pcie x16 slots with an i5 because of the limitation of the chipsets themselves. Add a second graphics card and that x16 gets split in half, 8 for each gpu. That said, it is going to be impossible to build a satisfactory computer which can upgrade to a crossfire/SLi setup for under $1000. I can fit an i5 build into $800, but he probably isn't going to like it.

I said that upgrading would only be an option if it were cheap enough, which it obviously won't be. And once again to reiterate, it doesn't have to be an i5. Just the fastest system you think you could setup with the monitor/OS for 1k

CD Drive $18.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827118031 4GB DDR3 OCZ 1333 RAM $91.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227479 Windows 7 64 Bit Home Premium $104.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116754 Antec 200 Case $39.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129070 MSI motherboard mATX $99.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130253 Cooler Master 500W $39.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817171031 WD Caviar Blue 640 GB $69.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136218 AMD/ATi 5750 $139.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121356 Intel i3 3.06ghz $139.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115221 It's the base build. It comes out to approximately $750. That $50 can upgrade the graphics card to the 5770, or you can choose to upgrade the i3 processor to the i5 of your choice. I'm not 100% sold on the reliability of the OCZ RAM, but if you don't trust it, there is GSkill DDR3 RAM for $13 more. In my opinion, he should upgrade the RAM and the 5750 for the best performance, but that's his decision. GSkill Ripjaws 4GB DDR3 $104.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231277 Edit: Some justifications: The CD drive I skimped because CD media is dead for the most part. Just need one that functions imo. The Antec 200 is a nice solid case, budget version of the Antec 300. I really hate mATX motherboards, but the MSI motherboard seemed to have some good reviews, and MSI is a decent company when it comes to motherboards. The Coolermaster is just a cheap 500W PSU with decent reviews. The 640GB hdd supposedly outperforms most other hard drives on the market. If the Samsung F3 500GB Spinpoint was still in stock, I would have chosen the F3. As for the graphics and the cpu, The 5750 is a decent performer for its price, and one of the cheaper DX11 options available. As for i3 vs i5, the only thing that the 2nd gen i5 has over the i3 is TurboBoost. The i3 is a perfectly capable competitor and has hyperthreading. It is also very overclocking friendly, and reaches decently high speeds on stock cooling and volts. Oh and just another recommendation: With his budget I'd definitely go for an Athlon II setup.

You would most likely be able to play it on low-medium settings with that graphics card. What are the rest of your computer specs (CPU, RAM, Screen Resolution)? I'd suggest a 5750 which you can get for around $140.
