OT: saw this story that a kind of unheard of prospect called Ricky Rubio overhyped- http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/scott_howard-cooper/06/12/jennings.rubio/

I'm glad someone finally said it. -_-

I looked up clips of the prospect and he is kind of insanely athletic, wish the Pistons could take him ~-~

Lots of people have heard of Rubio and he probaly is overhyped but he still has tons of potential, and as an extremely smart PG the chances of reaching it are pretty decent. Jennings is a little punk though, he's going to be Telfair 2.0.

I'm glad all those young guards are in the draft, so the the Pistons can grab Lawson. o.o

It would've been better if Howard missed four in a row, but it was still a funny case of deja-vu.

Sorry, but Rubio is much better than Telfair, Rubio actually has some pro play under his belt, Telfair was another one of those high school to pro prospects that didn't pan out, I can only imagine how good Telfair would have been if he had been thoroughly coached by Rick Pitino @ Louisville.

he ran into that elbow for sure, kobe wouldnt make that kinda mistake of commiting an offensive/flagrant late in game like that.

exactly, kobe doesn't just do shit outright like that. Even if he's in a position to sneak a foul in he doesn't try to hurt people like that. It's Nelson's fault for running right into Kobe as he's moving around trying to make space.

You misread his post. He said that Jennings is going to be like Telfair, not Rubio.

I think it's not a foul because Kobe had already started his fake left-turn right move before Nelson got there, and Nelson ran into Kobe's "space". For a taller player, Kobe would've just hit them in them in the chest or shoulder area, and there'd definitely be no talk about it being an offensive foul. The fact that Nelson is short (for an NBA player) and, as a result, got clipped on the chin should not be relevant. Kobe didn't swing his arms/elbows any differently than any player is allowed to when they're trapped and swarmed by multiple defenders.

kobe was standing there going through the motion to make a pass, nelson was the one charging at kobe's elbow with his face
nelson had a good chance of striping the ball from bryant if he used his hands instead of his face

This was from taken from the end of Houston game, Who is this guy? He is always on the sidelines near where Larry David (in the background) sits sometimes. He always tries to give props to Kobe and this time he bear hugged him, Kobe's reaction is priceless. DVR FTW!

Up till the last line I can follow. But that last line, are u serious? What, so the offensive player can do anything as long as he was trying to be legit about it? A foul is a foul is a foul. Doesn't matter if he "meant" to do it. The fact is kobe hit him in the jaw with his elbow. That's a foul. There's no way around it. The real question is how bad is the foul. Yea considering the situation he was in it probably shouldn't be flagrant or anything like that, but honestly that should have been called, and the 3 shouldn't have counted.

Would be easy to justify if this happened for the first or second time, but this keeps happening over and over again.

well aside from that he knew what he was doing. that's called a basketball play. it's not a foul, but he probably knew the elbow was going to do that. that's just what happens when you play basketball. basketball players know little tricks like that, it's something you just need to accept if you're going to be playing at any sort of competitive level.
