The lakers are doing a good job trapping and contesting inside shots, while doing a terrible job on the outside shots. And so far it's been working. Check out espn's gamecast's shot chart.

Let me revise what I said before. If the Magic are going to be competitive, Lewis is going to have a great series. Odom is obviously doing a good job closing out on Lewis' 3s, but it means the Lakers are almost empty on the inside so he needs to drive and get the ball down there.

they dont have super defense. of course it's easier to trap and contest the inside shots. they cant always run to the perimeter after shutting down orlando's inside game. Let them take the long 3's inside of easy points in the point.

Interesting side by side look at Howard and Shaq. Shaq was the better scorer in year 5, Howard is the better rebounder/defender. Then again, Shaq played in the golden age of centers with the likes of Zo and Ewing just in his own conference, whereas there's no center in the East that's even half the player Howard is.

magic choked hard on this one, they just couldnt score at all starting at the third. the problem wasnt even the lakers defense, magic took better quality shots than the lakers pretty much the whole game, but they just missed open shots again and again, while kobe made everything with a hand on his face

magic were intimidated by the exploding kobe i guess, also the lakers did a great job keeping down howard, the lack of howard could have kept their spirits down a bit as well
