And this series is so much better than Celtics-Bulls. I refrained from posting in here since my team is already bounced out but to say the Cavs/Magic series was better than Celtics/Bulls is laughable and discredits you from any serious NBA related post you make from here on out. Shame on you sir.

imagine if celtics/bulls happened in the conference finals. it's a shame that it was a first round series, or it could possibly be one of the greatest ever. it was still awesome nonetheless and i personally liked it a lot more than cavs/magic so far.

game 7 was such a letdown though compared to the rest

But damn did the rest of the series have some good stuff. Triple OTs, Double OTs, OTs every other game it seemed like. And when it didn't go to OT, it was extraordinarily close down the stretch.

It wouldn't be the same having LeBron on the magic. It works great to surround Howard with three point shooters because he demands so much attention when he's in the paint. True, LeBron draws a lot of attention no matter where he is on the floor, but for the most part he never plays with his back to the basket. He lowers his lineback body and barrels in. That's when he kicks it out. If it was LeBron on the Magic they wouldn't shoot nearly as many 3's in my opinion.

post random unrelated video that deosn't involve the player concerned = extremely hilarious

I hate how everybody is so in love with LeBron. It's like the media is trying really hard to avoid saying anything bad about him. In the ESPN article about the game they say "LeBron's magical night stopped by missed 3 at the end". If you had put Kobe in his shoes they would have said something like "Lakers lose after Kobe gets 7 turnovers in 4th + OT and bricks free throws and makes horrible passes and was forced into a bad last second 40 ft shot that barely hit the rim". There would have been nothing magical about it if they were writing about Kobe. It would have been "Kobe took too many shots + lots of turnovers + didn't get his teammates involved, so they lost".
It's just silly how much of an insane bias the world seems to have with LeBron. It makes me become even more of a Kobe fan just to balance out the blind LeBron love. These playoffs are making it painfully obvious how much LeBron still needs to improve on to really become the "best basketball player". It's not just that he's off the charts statistically... he's playing on a team where he's the only guy doing stuff, of course he's going to have some insane numbers. Look at the 4th quarters though, in each of the games LeBron has choked and failed to come up with wins. He's made a few good players here and there, and a miracle shot in game 2, but that just underscores the utter crap he's been throwing up in these 4th quarters.
He's turned the ball over, made careless/bad passes, taken bad shots, missed layups, missed free throws, blown defensive assignments (seriously leaving Rafter 10 ft open for a 3 after he's already had 20+ points, how stupid can you be?). If any other player was having these kinds of 4th quarters they would be ripped to shreds on ESPN, but nobody is saying a word about LeBron - it's all his teammates fault for not playing better.
When Houston couldn't get out of the first round, it was always TMac's fault. Clevland is fucking up, but no blame is going on LeBron's shoulders. If Clevland loses they might as well throw an Orlando jersey on him and let him play in the finals because apparently LeBron transcends criticism.
I'm not just a LeBron hater. I don't like him, mostly because everybody thinks he is some sort of god-given gift to the game of basketball. He's a great player, he makes other people better, but he has huge flaws in his game, and the good things he does get exaggerated so much because of how bad everyone around him is. Sure he's a godly fantasy player, but when it comes down to it, he has never produced big results in the playoffs when it was needed except for maybe 2-3 games max. In the gold medal game in the Olympics, team USA turned to Kobe, not LeBron, to guide them to victory. There's a reason that happened the way it did. People seem to have lost sight of that and are putting LeBron up on some podium he has not earned yet.
Because of all this, and Clevland's attitude of invincibility (lol @ mo williams guaranteeing victory, gj you fucking idiot), I am a happy camper that these kids are getting shit on and being given a huge reality check. I say they're getting shit on because in 3 games they have totally blown big leads and crumbled in the 2nd half.

That post just made my day. Lebron really isn't that skilled. If he was a bit skinnier he'd be crap. He is a bulldozer. Kobe's moves are elegant and require skills to execute. Lebron puts on a helmet says charge and then does a little crossover and rushes towards the basket. What a load of crap.
@ Mo Williams : That's right... STFU

As a true fan of basketball i'm one of those people that can have many favorite players without riding on the cock of just one guy (the kobe fans) don't get me wrong i like lebron and kobe but when you diss lebron's style as just ramming people and scoring i don't see anything wrong with that. You wouldn't say the same for wade or jordan when they do the exact same thing, hell even iverson does that, it's just when lebron does it players fall down and lebron gets a massive dunk.
Replace rasheed with xeris.

I can't agree with you about LeBron Xeris. The guy is doing everything he can to get the the Cavs over the line but he just isn't getting the help he needs.
No one denies he has flaws, but for a guy playing in his 6th season coming straight from HS, his current ability and potential future is amazing.
This series has shown more flaws in the Cavs' supporting cast rather than LeBron imo. The Magic players have all stepped it up a gear, and the Cavs all bar LeBron are faultering in the pressure moments. The guys throwing down really impressive numbers, but he's go no one else there to help pick up the slack. Could you imagine how much better the Cavs would be with a Scottie Pippen in their ranks?
I really felt for LeBron today. Down the stretch he didn't have anyone he could go to and had to pretty much shoot or create for everyone else. The Cavs kinda remind me of the late 80s Bulls with Jordan.
Anyhow, that's just my take on things and I hope the Cavs still win as I can't see the Magic beating the Lakers (errr, no Denver; they'll win!... Please!).

I think on ESPN or something I can't remember, they said that only 8 teams have come behind a 3-1 series deficit to win. and as for denver.. we'll see... lakers are gunna win tomorrow

1. Even Lebrons team mates are blaming themselves in interviews making it very easy for the writers to not blame Lebron. Lebron makes mistakes too, but it's hard to turn blame on the point whoring rebounding / assist leader of the team. Especially when for the most part of the playoffs he's been shooting hot fire. Or dunking it, whatever.
2. I think you don't like him because your favourite player is Kobe and he took the spotlight away from him. That's ok, you're talking from the hurt fan perspective. Even if that's not the case you should know that you come off as a really whiney and jealous fan that has a grudge against him because everyone's claiming he's numero uno. But Kobe's reputation has been ruined by a lot of bullshit and he now has a plethora of haters to go along with his fans. Lebrons reputation hasn't been through the gutter yet and they are just marketing him. If you don't like all the articles about him don't read them. The titles of the articles themselves shouldn't be enough to upset you. But yes, welcome to the Lebron Era. They are trying to make him the next Michael Jordan or his successor / supasser or whatever because of what Michael Jordan did and brought in a looooot of money. And that's the bottom line. While judging from this forum the excessive cluster fuck seems to be turning people away from him.
They did it with Kobe too though, and we MJ fans were pissed. As i'm sure Larry Bird / Magic Johnson fans had to live with it when MJ was crowned (though I think they came to accept it at the end of his career) =]. We had to take all the comparisons right up until this day. Now you're going to have to live with years of "LEBRON BETTER THAN KOBE EVER WAZ LZOZLOL, KOBE'Z A BITCH" comments on youtube & new articles glorifying him every day.
And even if he loses this series (95.6% chance according to history or something close to that) I don't think you can really blame him. I think if Kobe loses to the nuggets it really won't be even close to his fault even if he took a train to choke-ville and took the last 10 shots for the lakers in a game 7 and missed all 10. Why? Because they are there because of him, so they should thank him they got that far. Same thing with Lebron.
|
I've got to say MJ is still my favourite player.. and I don't think Lebron will ever have the flair that Jordan did. I just don't see it. I agree LBJ has talent, but talent does not mean he has skills.

although i would agree kobe has a much, much larger array of offensive moves in his arsenal than lebron (or anyone else for that matter) it doesn't cover up the fact that he's had so many screw ups before.
everyone knows how great a player kobe is but all his immaturities earlier in his career is really what taints his reputation.. lebron on the other hand hasn't displayed any of that. that's all it boils down to imo, MATURITY.
and i agree with testie 100%

I'm not saying it covers that he has had screw ups in the past. I'm just saying he's the most offensively skilled player in the league right now.

Are you kidding? Lebron James is as big as Karl Malone was and you want him to be "elegant"? Karl Malone didn't even need ball control or a 3 point shot to be one of the most dominant players of his era.

I'm not so sure that everyone would agree with your last statment there....
@ BlackJack: Lebron is 6' 8''? and even so Malone's era featured players who weren't huge. Some of them were tall but the majority were shorter than Malone, thats why Malone was soo good.
