I am voiding this sale and refunding your money... paypal is holding the money for 21 days because of something you did and I am not waiting 21 days for the cash to get to my bank...not to mention the risk I am takeing if you say you never got the item sorry but to risky selling to people with no feedback... good luck getting another code... So I reply, "Ah well, that sucks, kkmoneyback plox." Then he sends me this: ok i just got off the phone with paypal heres the deal we have 3 options to complete this with paypal. 1st option is refund your money and you can send me a check... 2nd option which is what i would prefer, leave me positive feedback now which will release the money and i can transfer it to my bank as soon as feedback is left. I will email you the code as soon as you leave feedback and soon after i will snail mail you a reciept along with another copy of the code... third option is I snail mail you the code but it will be $30 more to ship it to you because I have to send it express to get a tracking number and paypal will only release the fund if I have one..this is really not an option because I dont have the $30 to ship it express... here is my cell phone number in case you want to call me before we make any decisions... 951 bla blah... my name is jim... sorry for the problems I hope we can get this worked out so we both are happy To me this just screams "SCAM!". Suggested course of action?

1) Don't send him any checks or funds through the mail. 2) Don't leave him a positive feedback until you get the item (or code). What did it say in the eBay auction? He will email the code or he will mail the card? If he didn't put any shipping fees in the auction and said he would mail the code, that is his problem not yours and it is his responsibility to get the product to you by whatever means necessary. Again, only leave a positive feedback on the item on eBay if you got the item (via email or mail). Once he gets the positive feedback that means you got the item and you no longer have any leverage against him if he does scam you. You should get him to mail you the card. Hopefully he didn't scratch the code off yet. Else he probably just wrote down the code. At which point he could sell it to other people and then on beta registration date there would be other people trying to register with your key at the same time. First one would get it basically. Area code (951) is like 30 min from my apartment, lol.

Most likely he wants you to leave positive feedback to prove the transaction was completed when he ends up giving you a bogus code/nothing at all.

Paypal will "hold" the money unless you give positive feedback (in which case they are released), OR if you don't make a complaint within 21 days. The problem for sellers, is that they have got to PROVE they sent the physical package as: a) The auctioning or purchase of electronic (non physical) goods is not permitted. b) If the buyer starts a conflict with paypal, they are screwed! To prove they sent you what was agreed upon they have to ship it express. Otherwise there won't be a tracking number and thus no proof that the package has been sent or that it has arrived. I was lucky enough to have the guy send it through regular "snail mail" free of charge. But if I were to start a conflict he'd be totally screwed (even though I received the card)... *edit: I do NOT recommend you to give him positive feedback though. Only option out of the above I'd choose is the THIRD one. Tracking number is key. But that probably means you have got to pay for the shipping... If he has good feedback, like 100% with about 100 transactions I'd also be inclined to just take his word for it. Those guys rarely screw you over...

Then he sends me this: To me this just screams "SCAM!". Suggested course of action? Guaranteed scam, don't do it. For one, that's not how it works. For two, you don't have to get express to get a tracking number, you just have to get ups ground, it's like 5 or 10 bucks max. They ALWAYS put the money on 21 day hold, it's a recent policy so every purchase gets this. Don't pay him, it's a definite scam. He even lays it out for you, saying he'll transfer the money to his bank account as soon as you send it LOL You NEVER give positive feedback and release him the money before he sends it. The entire wait 21 days policy is designed so that a seller can't just grab the money and never give you the item. That way you "pay," paypal hold the money, the guy sends the item knowing you already paid paypal, and then when you receive the item you leave him positive feedback and he gets the item. That's how the policy works, he's trying to fake you into getting the money released before he sends you the item, at which point he'd have no incentive to send you the item.

In the end we decided to go for this one. I had to pay him the $30 for express postage, but the code was only $100, so i guess it's still a pretty good deal. And the tracking number i got was legit, so he did mail something. So now all I have to do is wait. The code is still in San Bernardino.

I sold my polar bear mount key code. I received the funds instantly but paypal held the money until i received positive feedback or until 21 days was up (whichever paypal decides to do). So neither of us had the money anymore. I left the guy a feedback saying prompt payment and asked for his feedback after I emailed the code to him. He did the next day, and I just assumed I would have to wait the 21 days instead. so 23 days later I call paypal and ask them wtf is up. Bitch said it was some oversight (yea thanks assholes). The system is a little retarded.. PS- I forgot to mention that it takes 3-5 business days for the held funds to be released into the bank once they do it..

Hopefully that means next week. But with Blizzard it's always difficult to predict.
