As to the argument that many foreigners ashadow homegrown talents, it's up to the schools of football of every country to provide good players, if they don't manage then youngsters will be forced to play in minor leagues or foreign leagues, again, nothing wrong with this, a job is a job, and where you find the most convenient one it doesn't matter anything else, it's not like you make a bad living anyway....

Well, our opinions clearly differ. For me there are more important things than trophies and silverware. I don't want a team of mercenaries. I would of course find it entertaining to watch a Roma team with 11 foreign super stars in it, but it would be just that. A shallow, entertaining spectacle that money can buy. I would not feel pride nor love. The emotional connection between Totti, GranDe Rossi, Aquilani and a romanista cannot be replaced by anything. To me that's a much more important thing. I'm not saying ''NO FOREIGNERS ALLOWED''. I'm saying clubs should not lose their identity. I'm saying homegrown or at least native talent should form the basis of a team. I'm saying foreign players should be used as topping of the cake, as spice on the food. I'm saying absolutely no more than 5-6 foreign players on the pitch per team at any time. Otherwise the teams with the most money will always win. Money does not = lack of soul though, as I mentioned with Barca earlier. Exept for Inter, all Italian teams (even the biggest ones) have big italian influence (owners, managers, icons (Maldini, Totti, Del Piero), players etc). When I watch the ITALIAN league I expect to see ITALIAN football. I'm not so sure the founders of Chelsea would approve of a team with 3 englishmen in it, basically no home grown talent coming up, a russian owner and a dutch coach. There are as you say foreign players who become talismanic, such as Zanetti in Inter, but it's a rare thing. Most brazilian players, for instance, come to europe to make money. (On that note, I don't know how Ronaldo got away so easily with playing for Barca-Real Madrid and Inter-Milan. When Figo went from Barca to Real he had a pigs head thrown at him.) There's nothing wrong with that, absolutely nothing, but a team filled to 70% with such players will never get a lot of respect by me. Roma has very few of those. Even most the foreigners in Roma love the team and the city and clearly state ''I will not leave Roma for Milan'' when such rumours surface. Mexes, Vucinic, Pizarro, Taddei are good examples. I would rather have Taddei instead of C. Ronaldo in Roma any day. This whole debate made me interested in a possible Roma line up with only italians: Pipolo Cassetti Panucci Motta Tonetto Aqui De Rossi Brighi Perrotta Totti Montella That's a damn good team! Out of that XI, 9 plays/has played for the italian national team a tenth guy is captain for the italian U-21 team. I doubt Arsenal, 'Pool or Chelsea could even muster XI native players. Forza Roma!

Ferguson often uses possession players at the start of important matches. PJS and Carrick played away at Milan in that fantastic performance and Anderson is a great player. He was trying to dominate the midfield but it didn't work as planned. I think the mistake was playing Tevez and Rooney together. Alex has rightly avoided that combination in important matches but for some reason decided to use them in this game. Liverpool are just on a high at the moment and look an entirely different prospect with Torres fit.

They've yet to lose to the other big clubs; beating Chelsea, Arsenal and Man.Ux2. The problem is they go and lose 2-0 to Middlesbrough or draw at home to Man City. I just watched the highlights again and Vidic really did have a nightmare. But then he was pretty bad against Newcastle last week as well. Maybe the defense is beginning to crack under the pressure of so many games.

It was during arsenal-blackburn game, you guys should check it out, he is like the worst actor ever, even Steven Taylor would have feel pround doing that dive. When did football become such a funny sport to watch? Yeah that was a fucking joke.. Sagna was no where near him.. at first I literally thought he slipped, but then he started shouting at the ref and then the replay was him diving.. ugh. Also, seeing as you watched MOTD, can you BELEIVE how many times Bendtner misses.. I mean sooo many chances, its SO frustrating.. I think he is sooo bad at finishing (always in good positions though) On March 15 2009 10:52 ilj.psa wrote: i actually thought Arshavin was overrated just because of the hype of 1 match in the Eurocup, but he's actually amazing Have you seen the video I posted of him a few pages back? It's a compiliation of his goals.. I'd never even heard of him before he signed for Arsenal, but those goals are world class.. I think (and hope) he will do really well at Arsenal.

I think he is sooo bad at finishing (always in good positions though) oh man, I actually feel sorry for Bendtner and knowing that even eboue scored just add insult to injury. And I am only watching Highlight! I am pretty sure it must be a lot worse live, I think he should go back to birmingham for another season if they ACTUALLY still want him there. You can't even say he is a bit low on confidence and stuff because he just scored agasint WBA. He looks to be playing purely on luck where Ade is out and Van Persie need cotton wool wrapped round him all the time due to his injury history. Vela should get more game, but then he is quite small to be put out alone in EPL since they already have arshavin who drifts wide/drop to mid quite often. Also, anyone find celtic-rangers is getting a bit boring now? This is what, their 10th time playing against each other this season or something, their leauge need to reduce their matches or increase more team.
