Happy to see a few defenders up there. They really deserve more credit although the forwards and midfielders receive most of the praise. Anyways go Vidic!!
I can't see the award not going to Ronaldo especially all the stuff he did last season. Messi might win next year though because he'd have improved again

Say that to Cannavaro -.-
I hope a Barca player gets it, two have really high chances ManU won CL and EPL but Ronaldo plays well only vs weak teams and Portugal didnt make an impact on Euro, neither did he. Messi is Messi, always rulz, not just in unimportant matches and Argentina won in Olympics, to which Messi contributed very much. Xavi is always there - brilliant passing, vision, lately shoots a lot as well and knows how to behave in the penalty area. One of the main reasons behind Spain's Euro 2008 success.
it cannot go to a player outside the EPL because the EPL completely dominated last season, and ronaldo completely dominated the EPL. i definitely understand why people hate ronaldo and like messi way more, maybe messi is even a better player, but he was not last season. and the olympics should have about as much impact on this as the FA cup. ;(
actually i think Messi was a better player and more consistant thatn C.Ronaldo overall, there is not 1 game where he played bad, but when we talk about Ronaldo's goals and winning the CL with Man.U and the EPL makes him a better candidate to win the award this year.

Seriously man I used to love this team back in the day. Remember the older days too of Edgar Davids and Carrick as well.. this team used to have so much potential. Now they are in last place with only 2 points. Tottenham, you are dead to me.

It depends on how you judge consistancy. Sure Messi was a commanding player on the ball and demanded tons of respect from defenders but C Ronaldo consistantly put the ball into the back of the net almost every game. Also, C Ronaldo was also a huge key factor in the playmaking aspect of Man U as well and you can't forget his free kicks (still have no clue how he does it).
There is no way that anyone else should win this award.
