I hate how disabled kids, mentally or physically, basically cannot go to normal schools b/c they will be bullied and/or completely isolated. At least america is pretty accepting towards pple who have the cards slightly stacked against them but are still doin' their best. | ||

iirc I think I was being bullied by some fat kid in 2nd grade when I was @ a school in japan for 6 weeks or so in the summer. Then again I had no notion of bullying back then so I think I was just fist fighting the kid who weighed 20kilos more than me. | ||

The second biggest political party refused to distinguish between them recently. And the hatred for asylum seekers is scary at times. So much fear and propaganda around people fleeing from oppression. They cannot legally work because then everyone will say they're just doing it for economic reasons. But then everyone says we're a soft touch because they're just sitting around waiting for the outcome of their asylum application while trying to live off a few pounds a week. The rascist right in this country is worrying. Their propaganda is laughable but is still lapped up by the plebs, between a dose of big brother gossip and a revelation that Madeline was Princess Di. Deadpan expressions line the crowd in everyone London music gig; deadpan, insulting comedians are the most famous and reverred; no one really appreciates anyone's creativity and imagination unless that person gazes at their shoes and mumbles, quietly, some sort of barbaric butchering of the King's English. No one really appreciates talent in Britain, it's more other things, like rudeness and spite. And fucking chavs omg. PPl who line the streets all subconsciously encouraging each other to be ruder and more dangerous each passing day; huge groups of semi-human creatures in every single town in britain, which wear shellsuits and caps or striped shirts with light green, yellow or blue. All of em carry knives and beat up grannies and basically anyone, just for fun. The whole atmosphere of repression in england is STIFLING. English people feel REALLY uncomfortable when someone is being loud, most of em keep their heads down and the only word you ever hear on the tube is 'sorry'. England is SO repressed! The sexuality, the music, the conversation, the COMEDY it's all so fucking repressed! Everyone seems to live in fear of a huge, bald, 25 stone bruiser shouting 'get of the stage you fucking nancy boy'! It's sad because some of our most famous comedians and musicians and public figures are the ones who can shed this repression, but the general populace can't. They experience alleviation from repression vicariously through celebrity reality shows and the like; a sort of release by proxy. The same goes for watching sports. And the worst thing, is that all english people then go COMPLETELY over the top with booze, which they use to unlock all of their fucking repression. It's just completely diabolical how much alcohol CONSUMES people's lives here. Almost everyone is 'living for the weekend'. Britain is a REALLY stifling place to live in because it's not the sort of place where people who differ from the norm are tolerated. Britain, to me, symbolizes prevention of reaching dreams; forced mediocrity; and social pressure to be less intelligent than you are. | ||

So because of this we're extremely open and tolerant, but I think a little too much. There should be a few standards which these people should follow so that they are actually able to integrate themselves well into society. There will be a few schools built exclusively for Turkish children now, where they speak no German of course. This is all nice and tolerant and you might think it might help them because it lowers the initial barriers they might have, but IMHO this will just make things worse because they'll never be able to really integrate themselves then. Even without these special schools, there are already some schools and kindergartens where the percentage of foreigner children is incredibly high. And the chance that they speak German with each other is low... This could easily be changed by trying to maintain a 50%/50% split or so. But as it is, we'll probably see more 100% foreigner and 100% German schools/kindergartens in the future. This is just the wrong way to go IMHO, because it means separation instead of integration from the start. Well, I normally don't think about this much because it's just a complicated matter and every opinion is somehow wrong. There's no easy answer to these things, and many opinions differ. I don't really care about these things, either. I live somewhere with almost no crime and I only know nice "foreigners" who are just normal in every aspect. But there are also others, who feel bad about living here, who don't like Germans, who don't want to belong, who start to become violent... and when you look at crime statistics you can't deny that this is a slowly growing problem. It also has to do with age... it's mostly teenagers and up to 25 year olds doing this. The older ones are generally very nice people, often nicer than the Germans (on average). Racism is increasing here too, because of this. In some cities and especially city parts the percentage of "foreigners" is extremely high, and usually crime is also high around these parts. | ||
