I'm the same way, though I lean more on the democratic side. I'm one of the few who isn't all that excited for socialized health care, and I think affirmative action is lame. I don't like racism, but I'm not a bleeding heart loser who likes that the party goes around and blows every minority for a vote. But yeah, like you said, I certainly wouldn't fit in on the red side.
I know that the Senate and House rely on those votes. I just kinda wrote that really quick =] I don't know the whole legality to it, but it seems it would just be a lot easier to have the president decided on popular, but keep the representation based on the college? I dunno. I just don't like the concept of not wining despite the popular (no, I'm not a whiney dem Gore supporter. I thought he should have just STFU then)

you don't want sympatico either. This is why it sucks here, you basically only have 2 choices, one ran by Quebecor, with nice speed but totally rips you off and the other a bit less expensive, still rip you off but is really slow as well.
I wish videotron would have some competitions so they wouldn't make me pay nearly 90$/month for a 100gig limit bandwith (they don't even have unlimited plans)

germany is becoming little europe. It seems there is no need for immigrants to accomodate to the way of life here. Don't get me wrong. I don't have anything against foreign people, (otherweise I wouldn't be posting here), as long as they behave like what is seen as "normal" around here.
But It's not cool for me:
- that foreigners found sport clubs here where only foreigners are allowed to join.
- Or that some foreign girls living in my country are not allowed to date germans.
- Or that some people living here for the last 20 years are not even able to speak even one word german.
- Or that some kids in school cant follow the teacher because their german is too bad. I hears of classes in which more than 60 % of the students aren't able to speak german properly because their parents come from countries where education is subordinate.
I also hate to be called "nazi" for speaking out such thoughts because some older german generation committed unthinkable crimes to humanity.

2 things.
1) Chavs and (wannabe) gangsters. Whether they are immigrants or natives, White, Asian, Black whatever, I don't care, they need to be round up and shot. Fine, maybe that's too harsh. At the least compulsorily sterilise them all because they just raise up another generation of retards. They're just a big fucking drain on others.
2) Alcohol culture. Fucking calm down. The amount of public money spent on the national health service, emergency services and council services because of binge-drinking simpletons who go on to fuck something and/or someone up is unbelievable. Sadly, we are not like the rest of Europe/the world - "drinkly responsibly" is a complete oxymoron to many of us.

The British right is getting pretty scary. We take it for granted that we, as the British, can move freely around Europe and work where we want but feel that everyone else who comes on to British soil in some way owes us personally something. For some reason we resent the immigrants who do the jobs we refused, as if secretly we all want to be cleaning the toilets in burger bars. We forget that these people are taxpaying residents and contributing towards the services they recieve. Also the lack of distinction between immigration and asylum is depressing. The second biggest political party refused to distinguish between them recently.
And the hatred for asylum seekers is scary at times. So much fear and propaganda around people fleeing from oppression. They cannot legally work because then everyone will say they're just doing it for economic reasons. But then everyone says we're a soft touch because they're just sitting around waiting for the outcome of their asylum application while trying to live off a few pounds a week.
The rascist right in this country is worrying. Their propaganda is laughable but is still lapped up by the plebs, between a dose of big brother gossip and a revelation that Madeline was Princess Di. It makes me wonder when tolerance stopped being something we were proud of as a nation.
And by the way Elsi, you're not a British citizen. Nobody is. You're a subject of Her Majesty the Queen, as is every Australian, New Zealander and Canadian. You are however a British national.
This crap about citizenship annoys me too. It doesn't exist in Britain.
