What are the best foreign and Korean clans for Brood War?
I know of these:
Sea By MYM ToT
..
and that's it.
I'm writing a sociology study on the rise of online gaming communities, especially the phenomenon of clan gaming, so I think the experiences of these elite clans would be pretty interesting.
Thanks guys!
P.S. Fakesteve, what clan is Sea[Shield] in?

xLo.
[arnc] [gm] [shield] [3.33] inter.

if youre looking for clan gaming, then counterstrike wouldve been a far more appropriate example

Yeah I'm actually doing my paper on both SC and Counterstrike, and analyzing why both a heavily team based game AND a mainly 1v1 (or 2v2) oriented game would still give rise to similiar clan structures.
Thanks guys for all the help! For all the antisocial rep gamers have, its nice to see a community here that is actually... a community haha

just go through TLPD and look at the progamer aka's under their profiles.

Probably made like 20 progamers or more.

foreign clan is nothing compare to korean clan = =
|
Just start looking at the TL replay database foe clan tags:
saM KaL
I'd also guess that gosugamers has an excellent repository of foreign clan information, you could try poking around over there.

For Korea it's easy, just look at the progamer nickname prefixes or suffixes... many include their clan name.

prOxi - all the other clans consist of ignorant people who hasn't yet heard of prOxi and how good prOxi is

arnc is back? no more name? O_O

At least some good foreign clans can also be identified by checking out the various clan leagues such as WGT CL, ICC CL, BWCL.
wgtour.com, iccup.com, bwcl.de

The old top foreign clan for a long time was [pG], with pretty much every top player in the world; then after a while ToT took on that role - but now it's pretty evenly spread among xLo, ToT, Media, MYM...any others? LRM)? 3D?

I don't understand why nobody ever mentioned [oops], For foreign, excello is really good imo.

I don't think so. I'm not sure why people keep on listing it.
Anyways, most of the good clans have already been listed, so there isn't much more to add, except:
t.3 Minus)
Those are both good teams.. Minus) is the best in Asia server I would say.

Best foreign clans are definitely LRM, MyM, ToT and Excello. There are so many awesome Korean clans, where do you start? But like kyjori said... [gm] is a monster factory.

Thanks guys for all the help! For all the antisocial rep gamers have, its nice to see a community here that is actually... a community haha I don't have any extra clans to add to the list, but here's some thoughts on your subject matter: Antisocial is the wrong word. Multiplayer gamers are quite social online.
I think it has to partially with being able to have a reputation just from being on that team. Like HEY I'M IN CLAN X, RESPECT ME. YOU DON'T KNOW WHO IS CLAN X? WTF? WHO ARE YOU?? It's also similar to the origin of the phenomenon of rappers giving themselves names like "Grandmaster Flash". I'm not just the place I came from, I'm not the name my parents gave me. It's self-actualization. That respect eventually becomes well-known. People associate a clan with their experiences with 1 or 2 players in it, or a game against them. But disrespect can also become well known. Usually the clan lead has the biggest effect on reputation. People may leave a clan because of the clan's gained or lost reputation. When I played a game called Soldat, I left (-) clan because the clanlead was BMing at all other clans, and we were the worst. Instead of trying to improve he just called everyone else "noobs". So, I left. I went and tried to join some of the best clans and I wasn't good enough. So I formed my own clan, ICE\, and eventually we got good enough to go and crush most of the clans, and at our peak I can only think of 2 real mode clans that could beat us. It took us a long time to rid our reputation as "noobs" though. I think what motivated me was: An "I'll show them~! Who are THEY to reject me, they don't know what they're losing." attitude towards the clans that rejected me.
Some clans are formed for more simple fun, some clans are formed for the desire and fun of being at the top. Some clans will always remain bottom-of-the-barrel absolute shit, but not because of an inherent lack of skill that will never improve in the members, but rather the clan doesn't care about that much. Other clans just suck.

This seems quite confusing. How exactly does the "clan structure" world in Korea with progaming teams aswell. Do pros just carry the tag or do they participate in "clan wars" etc. with the clan along with for their progaming team?

clans is just where they started off before they became progamers
they will retain their clan tag if they want but their akas aren't really so important when they're pros.
i guess they could play for clan wars if they wanted to -_-a but i doubt they'd have time to do so and the already pros would probably rape the amateurs O_O
