Clinton's path to the nomination, then, involves the following steps: kneecap an eloquent, inspiring, reform-minded young leader who happens to be the first serious African American presidential candidate (meanwhile cementing her own reputation for Nixonian ruthlessness) and then win a contested convention by persuading party elites to override the results at the polls. The plan may also involve trying to seat the Michigan and Florida delegations, after having explicitly agreed that the results would not count toward delegate totals. Oh, and her campaign has periodically hinted that some of Obama's elected delegates might break off and support her. I don't think she'd be in a position to defeat Hitler's dog in November, let alone a popular war hero. What do they do? After sending forth white men since forever, they suddenly put up a woman vs. a young black man, leaving little doubt in the public mind that the woman was chosen for her sex, and the man was chosen for his race, and then let them fight it out in nasty backstabbing contest. Meanwhile, the Republicans quietly and calmly present their distinguished war hero and experienced statesman. (...who, for those calculating PC armor points, is a cripple, but not in a blatant, unsightly way) I'm not seeing a Democrat in the White House this time around. So, the big question is: who ever thought it would be a good idea to support an ex-First-Lady as a presidential candidate? Let alone her. edit: And Jesus Christ... Barack Hussein Obama, son of an immigrant, who spent years of his childhood in Islam-dominated Indonesia, is now a member of a self-proclaimed "Africentric" church, and looks like a dorky kid. Just a poster of him grinning his dorky grin, with "Barack Hussein Obama, son of a Kenyan, raised in Indonesia, worships at the "Africentric" Trinity Church" underneath ought to be enough to torpedo his whole campaign. Who really thinks he has a shot in the popular election? Can you imagine any candidate having a hope in hell if he went to a church that openly advertised racial exclusivity? Do people think this is just not going to come up? Just look at their nuttiness and racial divisiveness: http://www.tucc.org/about.htm For that matter, "Mrs. Clinton: Why elect a President, when you can elect a President's wife?" Argblarbalrbg... ISN'T THIS SHIT OBVIOUS TO THEM?

Regarding the "electibility" issue- all the polls I've seen have shown Clinton vs. McCain as a virtual tie, and Obama vs. McCain as a pretty clear win for Obama. So no... the democrats aren't as stupid as you seem to think.

Clinton and Obama just proved themselves better candidates, and it has very little to do with their race/gender. C'mon. Seriously. Democrats who didn't like Hillary went, "Oh shi... The First Woman President has a hell of a ring to it. We can't just push some ordinary white dude. We need a hook like that!" Democrats who didn't like Obama went, "Oh fu... The First Black President is going to be hard to beat. We need our own gimmick!" And so all of the Democrats who hated the turd sandwich rallied behind the giant douche, and vice versa. Regarding the "electibility" issue- all the polls I've seen have shown Clinton vs. McCain as a virtual tie, and Obama vs. McCain as a pretty clear win for Obama. So no... the democrats aren't as stupid as you seem to think. Those polls are meaningless. The campaigning for the real election hasn't begun. The general population doesn't know anything about the candidates and isn't very interested yet. If Obama wins this, and it looks like he will, believe me you're going to be hearing a lot about Barack Hussein Obama, who was raised in Islamic Indonesia, whose father was not even American, and who worships at the afrocentric Trinity Church, assuming that's not just a pose for his true Muslim beliefs. Remember swiftboating? Presidents are not chosen for their merits. Non-presidents are disqualified for the doubts they raise. Nobody wanted Bush or Kerry, but Kerry looked weaker and less honest. Once the digging starts, Obama's background is going to kill him, and McCain's is going to make him stronger.

Do people think this is just not going to come up? Yeah, it is going to bother people who are already Republicans. If they make an issue out of it, it could backfire with independents, who I think are far more interested policy, in general. Using his middle name and blackness as an attack may not appeal to all the people who voted for Bush in 04, as mentally challenged as they may be.

His father being a Muslim from Indonesia is fair game for the Republicans, but they wouldn't dare pull the race card.
