Guidelines have been updated, so now on to work for the recommended threads.
I'm trying to update and organize the recommended threads. However, there is literally too much information in this forum for me to organize. I can often remember threads I posted in that were good, and I imagine you guys are the same! So if you remember a good guide/discussion, please post the link either in this thread, or the above Recommended Threads. Eventually that old recommended threads will be replaced with the new one and this "input" thread will be closed.
You don't need to post anything that was in the original recommended threads - I've gone through the original post and all the replies and taken the good stuff into my new recommended threads.
Please, if you aren't sure if you should post something, post it. Seriously. I don't want to miss ANYTHING. In the end, we're only going to put the best of the best in the Recommended Threads, but I'd still like to collect as much as possible.
Thanks.

Wow awesome, thank you. This will for sure make the entire strategy forum better for everyone!

Nice!
I've seen many (not closed) threads when someone has som sort of strategical idea, and just want to discuss it. Like "I've owned a lot of D+ newb with this new strat i've not seen anyone use before, do you think it could be viable also at highr levels?". Sometimes those threads are formulated more in terms of "W00t I've invented the NEW 1337 ZtrAt >>>>>> all!!!11one", but still.
Should those thread be in [Q], or get an own category like [I] for idea (with risk of being to wide and letting in unwanted threads...), or should they just not be created in the first place?

Cool, this will stop confusing and pointless threads hopefully. The updated recommended threads will be nice as well.

Interesting. I think it would be beneficial to have the [I] tag (Idea), which fills in the gap between [G] and [Q]. You're not asking a question but it's not a tried and true guide.
Sounds good, I'll see what haji thinks. This will all go into effect Monday, so hopefully there's some more feedback over the weekend.

I find it a bit annoying sometimes when people say TvZ help but they are actually asking help for ZvT. Good work though.

YEAAAHH!
GO CHILL!
edit: Question: what happens to the threads that don't have such a tag (or a wrong one)? Will they be closed or will they just be changed to have the tag?

At the start I'll edit them. As I grow tired of noobs ignoring my hard work, I'll just close them.

you're the man in charge here, and what you think is good won't be doubted unless something really sucks.
(btw I support this)

BUMPING SPREE!!
if you use the [I] tag or w/e, maybe it could attract more ad threads? But I guess if we even get one new good idea per 2 months, I guess we are still moving forward...
But what i really wanted to say is: When you close your first thread, could you say "great thread, but we got a special section for these, I'll move it for you." pleeeeeeaaaaase?
|
hmmm...this might be a bit of a stretch, but could we maybe split the strategy section into three sections? One section for each race? This would narrow down the searches quite a bit, and could help avoid the problem I had a while back trying to find a solution to a specific strat. And I think it's a lot easier to look at as well. Instead of meshing all the different strategies for every race against every other race you could simply select the race you want and poke around in that section..

So where would I then post my '[G]Uber awesome guide for all races' or '[Q]How to open vs random' threads?
Looking for information in a forum with a few thousand topics isn't really that much easier than looking in one of three times the size. In the end, it all comes down to what keyword you search for.
|
I'd like to see your uber awesome guide to all races, actually. As for opening versus random, I would assume you'd put that under the race you'd be opening AS...not the race you're making the guide to help against (in this case random)

There's no reason to split the forum up - the recommended threads will be split up and that's good enough.

This thread title doesn't follow the rules, ban please.

Hmm, that's a good idea. Maybe certain people can close the threads if the OP seems too retarded to answer?
I feel dumb answering bad OPs

Regulations like these are but a means to an end, and that end is to make it easier to get help.
As long as we can understand the question, why would we whine about how it's formulated? When we can answer it.

Nice, Chill. I hope you are able to save the Strat forum from its current depraved level :D

I was looking at the strat bar on the side and was baffled at the pro lookin titles @.@
now i know why...

How about auto sticky for the side bar with GroT's recommended thread? Most noobs don't know about the forum button.

Yeah, I was thinking that that would be a great idea, but maybe we should also make the Strategy Forum have 7 "Hot Threads" (two for the Strategy Forum Guidelines and the other for the Recommended Threads) so it's there in plain sight for the newbies but doesn't interfere with popular threads.
I'm theorizing here; Chill just has to pass judgment :O
