I was only 11 when 9/11 happened and I didn't fully understand the aspects of this tragedy. But now I realize how deep this goes and it saddens me deeply not only to see so many people die, but to know they were killed by other people.

What has become of the human race...

I was at work when it happened, I clearly remember. And I have saved the newspaper from the following day, I still have it here somewhere. There are NO other news in the whole paper, everything is about the plane crashes.

This video sends chills down my spine, I think you've probably already seen it but it's worth showing again. The guy is so panicked but tries to maintain control over the situation.. fucking crying shame, a horrible way to die.

Wow. Ive never seen that before, thats going to give me nightmares jesus

I can't stop watching that video, it's so powerful
I almost wanna cry when he semi-loses it somewhere in there, "it doesnt feel like it, lady. you get them in from all over. you get 'em in from Jersey. I don't give a shit. Ohio" and you can hear he's having problems breathing

Hmm is there anyway to prove that video is real? I don't get how he would of had time to say "OH GOD OH!" over the phone during the collapse.

BUT* If it is real, that last part sent shivers down my back... Horrible...

Anyone who says 9/11 was a conspiracy is insulting all those who's died that day.
Not bad for a cat toy.

"oh God, oohhh" is just a reflex. then it gets cut off right after that when the building goes down. perfectly reasonable imo.

Please get out of this thread now. Not here.

9/11 still has an effect on our economy today. My parents are entrepreuneurs(sp?) as first generation koreans in the states, and our business started to slow down after that terrorist attack. To this day, I do not understand the intentions of those terrorists. Even if a news source cites that X was the reason why they did it, I can't understand a possible justification of killing over a thousand innocent lives.

Note - the last part of my comment may be open to further discussion involving religion or national issues. Let's not continue it in this thread at the least. If need be, there can always be a discussion in another thread for flames/disputes.

what is your point? that we shouldn't have this thread? that we should have other threads about other "worse" things before we have this thread?

yes, the holocaust is probably, according to a reasonable person, "worse" than september 11th. it's probably safe to assume, throughout the history of human civilization spanning thousands of years filled with war, poverty, and death, there are "worse" things than a terrorist act that destroys two buildings and kills several thousand people. thank you for that great insight.

does that mean we should post "i've seen worse than this" in every thread about every bad thing?

should we post "i've seen a better game" in every OSL finals thread, or "i've seen a better tournament" in every tournament thread that isn't about the OSL?

do you post "i've read better" when reading a newspost because you've read "war and peace"?

i ask again, what is your point of your post?

Come on this thing happened years ago, I bet you wouldn't care if this happened outside USA.

They wouldn't even have noticed if that had happened outside of the US.

Yeah, the single most significant and world-changing event we will probably ever be around for happened, what, like six years ago? It's probably time to let that go. Not to mention the thousands of people who lost loved ones that day -- they really need to get over this shit. I mean, c'mon.

Go fuck yourself, Piste.

Even if this happened outside the U.S we would still be holding memorials and such, wtf. The tsunami victims are still being mentioned in the media (and they were mostly scandinavians and asians). hell, even the big fire in Sweden like ten years back is still being mentioned in international media. So this has nothing to do with it having happened in the U.S. It's a tragedy plain and simple.

No one's saying we shouldn't value the Iraqis' lives as highly as the americans', but come on, it's a post about the victims of the plane crashes! you have to expect some sympathy for the guys who died in the WTC, almost exclusively americans. If all you can muster is some retarded america bashing comment, stfu & gtfo, take your head out your fucking ass and grow up

Exactly.

There is still media coverage here in the US of the Tsunami victims, and other tragic events like the 2004 Madrid train bombings... we're not as egocentric as you think, and even IF you think that, this is NOT the thread for it.

maybe it's time to close this. weve all had our day of grieving, and it seems some idiots can't refrain from being retards for just a day or two, so this has outlived its usefulness

Rofl, I just read my last comment and realized it sounds COMPLETELY off topic. I was trying to point out the fact that 9/11 isn't something that just happened 6 years ago; it was something that will not only go down in history, but also change America forever.

I was actually about to mention creating another thread to use as filter for those who can't help but voice their oh-so-important opinions about whether or not 9/11 is really important. After giving it 2 seconds worth of thought, I figured that would probably be more of flamebait than anything worthwhile.
