Just figured I'd share this with TL.net, I wrote it yesterday, but figured I'd rather want discussion on my opinion.
Why I play Human, LaStShAdOw
The Terran race means more to me than anything else in this game. They arehuman, they are perfect. Every aspect of the terran is that we can't be stopped. The perfect player would have to choose terran. Our stall aspects, along with our mechanics and gameplay functionabilty is amongst that of the unknown. The Terran race, is the race that can not be stopped if played correct, almost "imbalanced" as you will. But the speeds needed in order to obtain this level is too great.
The humans, the perfect life form, the ultimate species, the strongest and most caring amongst the world. United, we are unstoppable. We think, we breathe, we dream, we have the ability to not fear pain. If at 100% brain capacity, we become pure energy ( according to Einstein.) The adrenaline in our bodies, while being stored is amongst the scariest form of 'rage' ever. We become superhumans, thinking, moving , deducting, calculating all at speeds unimaginable.
The Terran race, from Starcraft:Broodwar can almost compare to that of the Human species we call ourselves. With the "Medics" and the "repair" aspects, with proper control and micro our units are that of the gods, immortal. Players who have shown acts of this godlike ability are slayers_boxer ; iloveoov ; nada ; casy. However, no terran can completly withhold what the race truely needs. In order to obtain the "perfect terran" you would need speeds of over 5000apm without spam. Constantly flowing and using hotkeys at speeds unimaginable. To be able to "multi-command hack", but not. And to do it faster than what the hack allows. The Terran does not let it's units die. We micro, we macro, we control and we dominate. We are the most scared force at 200/200 and considered unbeatable with certain groups. We have anti-race mechanisms, stall aspects, and even decay features such as irradiate ; defense matrix ; EMP Shockwave. All these abilities are here just to keep us alive longer, ultimately never letting us die.
The fact that foreign terran's are seen as a "joke" to the koreans, only enfuriates me to thrive and strengthen my play to ultimately obliterate them. We are seen as "unable" and "he can't play terran, he is a foreigner". Things that put this in their mind? Foru's statement at WCG2005 "Only the protoss/zerg seem good". XellOs obliterating Skew in under 2 and a half minutes. Elky's short reign. Grrrr's long reign. All the best foreigners being protoss/zerg. Players that have shown the ability to finally silence this, are coming close, yet not yet there; IdrA. Why is there only 1 lone terran able to compete with the koreans on a populated level? All others terrans seem to go inactive and give up easily. Only the Protoss' and Zerg's reign in our community. WGT Fact : 1 in every 7 players are Terran. Top 10 Foreigners : 1 is Terran. However, that 1 Terran has annihilated all compition in his way, proving time and time again that the Terran's are no "joke". Now to only shun the koreans...
Playing the race that requires APM's of over 250 at proffesional level seems hard. While also having to multitask/micro/macro above all other races, Terran gives me the hardest challenge. Our off-the-wall ability makes us even more fun. Being unlimited in terms of building areas and our "lift ability" only provides so many options. Playing the race that has the weakest units, unless tactically positioned / played makes it even more thrilling amongst everything else. Maybe this is what makes it so fun for the koreans? Is that why they are so good? They are forced to be the best?
If you think about it, all the players who have dominated the scene have originated from the Terran Machines: SlayerS_`Boxer` for his unbeatable micro/brain for 3 yrs straight. IloveOOv for his feared macro. [ReD]NaDa the machine, and the first person to achieve speeds of 400 - 500 apm constantly. This race is no joke. This race is the hardest. And that is a reason why I love it.
To conclude my statement. We the Terran stand above all. We micro. We macro. We use our brain. We have instinct. We thrive for pain amongst others. We are the ultimate lifeform. Starcraft has become more than a game to me. The Terran are... apart of my life. They exempt everything I feel. You can play with anger. You can with love. You can play with joy. But you can not play with a Terran. The Terran Are The Perfect Race
Quote from War Of The Worlds (relating to Terran vs Protoss/Zerg)
" From the moment they entered our land. From the second they breathed our air. From the sight of their eyes they saw us. From they days they roamed out land. Our lifeforms, consumed them. Ever so elegantly, everything we live by, our insects, our bacteria, our animals, and our air was Too much for them. Our landscape consumed them. Our home did not take to their kind. They infiltraited our landscape, and from the second they did, they were under seige. We the Earth, are perfect..." - Morgan Freeman

I'm pretty sure Morgan Freeman didn't write war of the worlds. Gonna go out on a limb with that one.

It's the final statement, before the movie ends.
It's shows plant life, people rebuilding, and all the microbacteria as he is saying it.
He is the narrator if Im correct.

But it's still not his quote, he didn't write it. You're quoting an actor in a film. He read the script, a decent word processing program and a scanner could do the same trick.

I know that you're probably one of the many who don't like lastshadow on these forums, but seriously this is just being a dick If you were to quote "I'VE HAD IT WITH THESE MOTHERFUCKING SNAKES ON THIS MOTHERFUCKING PLANE" you wouldn't say that you were quoting the guy who wrote the script, but rather Samuel L. Jackson. Quotes in movies aren't remembered by who wrote them but rather by the actor/actress who said them, so it's being a bit anal to pick on him for this.

Hmm, my bad, I just assumed he'd said he was referencing the movie when in fact he didn't state if it was the movie or book he was taking the quote from, I agree completely with you that the author should take credit in this case, as he didn't state anything like "as said by Morgan Freeman" or something of that nature. For fuck's sake, don't ever mention Einstein again. Ever. You don't know shit about what goes according to him, so don't make a joke of yourself.
Loving your race is a nice thing as long as you stop the "they require the most multitasking/micro/macro/strategy/whatever". It's bullshit.
|
Oh god, you crediting that quote to Morgan Freeman made me burst out in laughter at how pathetic you are. The post was pretty dumb as well in general but I would've just shrugged it off if it weren't for your hilarious ignorance on literature you so courteously displayed for my ridicule.
The Einstein part was quite inane as well.

QFT. No other race will sit behind a giant wall of guns at that point in the game.
We are seen as "unable" and "he can't play terran, he is a foreigner".
Actually, it sounds as if they agree with your analysis. Of course, if by "Terran", you mean "Aryan"...
Now to only shun the koreans...

War of the Worlds aliens were retarded.
P.S. I don't necessarily disagree with your assessment. In fact, I think Terrans allow the greatest manifestation of the player's skill, therefore, a "perfect" player really would have to play Terran. It's just that your post is so full of drama...

exactly what i had in mind all along nick.. good stuff =)

The actual blog was full of blatantly ignorant mistakes, but that can be forgiven (Since you're not a Senator or anything like that).
Anywho... I like my Terran like I like my coffee: fluid, powerful, and maxed at 200/200.

Yea, but asian women can't drive on a straight road or know how to turn on their turn signals.

Yes, as everyone knows, their 'asian' DNA prevents them from synthesizing a key protein required to perform certain actions required to "drive on a straight road or know how to turn on their turn signals".

Dude all races are beatiful. Everything that was stated about Terran can be said about any other race.
Nal_ra <--- beatiful protoss gaming JulyZerg <---- godly mutamicro when no1 knew how to do it
"Of course Boxer is the god of Sc and he is T"

Yea I agree, same can be said about any other race, each has their respective legends and inherent strengths. Just because Terran is the hardest to master for most, doesn't make it the best race. All that means is simply.. it's the hardest race to master and requires a different skill set than say Z or P. But since this is just a blog-esque post and it's your personal feelings, I can't judge it except to say some of your "facts" are a bit skewed, but whatever.
Well obviously if you search for the words "dead" and "marine" you're gonna get something related to war and politics. Don't see how you are suprised by this...

Well, you know sometimes Bisu presses 'k' a lot. And I guess they all need to press 'p'. And 'b' if they want buildings, which they probably do. Intotherainbow definitely presses 'v'. Oh, and maybe they press 'a' when they want their units to attack.
Yeah, I guess Protoss is pretty fucking braindead.

lol maxed terran most feared? maybe against a toss, but this holds untrue against zerg. Maxed zerg is fucking scary, 12 ultras + shitload of lings + defiler is obliteration vs terran lol

It's impossible to play any race in StarCraft perfectly because StarCraft is a game of imperfect information. Unless you have map hack and ESP you can't know every variable. EX: In poker you can play all the right odds (not including player reads), but because it's a game of imperfect information, if someone knows you're always only playing with odds, they can bluff you and still end up taking your money.
I dunno why I posted this :S Sort of random ^^

"This race is the hardest. And that is a reason why I love it." I thought so at start my gaming 10 months ago and now ... I don't know but the truth for sure is the fact that this is the most defensive race; I heard it from koreans gosu - and they know 10x more about sc than me, so I trust them ^^

The adrenaline part is exaggerated and overly dramatic, along with basically the rest of it.
Stim packs are drugs, they wouldn't even work as catalysts for the release of adrenaline, as its release is already going to be going full-blown in a life and death situation.

The part with Einstein also makes me cringe. And the War of the Worlds quote being attributed to Freeman is silly. And the writing style smacks of "This was written by a teenager".

Yeah, that and the whole thing about how he made up words, spelled things wrong, used fragments, spaced things incorrectly, used quotes on random words, had no actual thesis or direction in the essay, spewed some bullshit about Einstein, added an entire paragraph-long quotation and quoted the wrong person, and used the phrase "ultimately obliterate."

Sorry, I've tried to avoid nitpicking at all the small things in the OP and your subsequent posts, but when you claim to have a "severly" (which isn't a word, and the word you intended to spell wouldn't be used properly here) above average vocabularly, and in the same post make multiple blatant spelling and grammar mistakes...
It hurts the credibility of everything you write.
"all the quotes will related to to the topic", "And the these and direction", "adequatly"?
I mean seriously, almost the entire post in which you defend your literacy is a grammatical train wreck.

Anyway, I will help you with your first paragraph.
"The Terran race means more to me than anything else in this game." -- this one is fine.
"They arehuman, they are perfect." -- semicolon, not comma, and a typo.
"Every aspect of the terran is that we can't be stopped." -- 'we' should be 'they'. "The perfect player would have to choose terran." -- grammatically correct, although this statement is not backed up.
"Our stall aspects, along with our mechanics and gameplay functionabilty is amongst that of the unknown." -- awkward phrases (amongst that of the unknown?), functionality is the word you're looking for.
"The Terran race, is the race that can not be stopped if played correct, almost "imbalanced" as you will." -- unnecessary first comma. 'correctly' (it is an adverb). this is also a run on sentence because of the last segment, which should be a seperate sentence. "if you will," not "as."
"But the speeds needed in order to obtain this level is too great." -- 'is' should be 'are'.
Honestly though, writing mistakes like these are pretty common, especially amongst teenagers (I am one). But don't pretend you have some above average writing ability, and then when people call you out say that you don't care because it's tlnet (i know you didnt say this exactly). in fact to improve as a writer i would worry less about grammar mistakes and more about word choice and the phrasing of your sentences. you can always work on the mechanics later (unlike in bw)

Why I Don't Play Human by flaccid
Cause they're a bunch of faggots who just sit in their base until they reach 200/200 with +3 weapons and armor. When did that become fun?
Plus they're commonly used by a subset of jackasses who think they're cool cause they're failing miserably at something they once 'saw Boxer do'.
Ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country. -Morgan Freeman

Cause they're a bunch of faggots who just sit in their base until they reach 200/200 with +3 weapons and armor. When did that become fun?
Plus they're commonly used by a subset of jackasses who think they're cool cause they're failing miserably at something they once 'saw Boxer do'.

I find it amusing that you chose to object to his portrayal of Terran players as homosexual turtlers, and all the while you missed the obvious giveaway in the JFK quote being attributed to Freeman.
I laugh at you.

H.G. Wells wrote War of the Worlds.
Interesting read. A bit immature imho, but nevertheless worth it - besides the more "emo" parts, you've touched some real subtle truths about Terran. I love Terran also^^
Nice job

By the way, you did throw around the word "perfect" a little too much.
There is no such thing as perfect. Never ever .

I wasn't joking, I actually thought the author's name was Lovecraft. I was wrong. It's H.G. Wells.

wiz 200/200 terran doesn't necessarily beat 200/200 toss
i've seen plenty of times where terran thinks that simply because he has 200/200 he can steam roll toss with unsieged tanks and get raped
and i've also seen times when arbiters stasis half of terran's force so it's suddenly 200/200 toss vs 130/200 terran
gg

200/200 toss beating a 200/200 3-3 terran with proper unit mix in a straight battle requires terran fucking up. if terran is set up well protoss will almost never win that fight.
not to say that beating 200/200 metal is impossible, you just arent likely to run over his army in one attack.

not to say that beating 200/200 metal is impossible, you just arent likely to run over his army in one attack. This is maybe a little off topic, but since you say that, I'm suddenly curious what units you'd choose for your 200/200 terran army. Would you mind telling me?

depends on opponents unit mix if they dont have carriers and you can pick whatever you want, mostly tanks, a few gols and vessels in support. when you have enough tanks sieged it doesnt matter how much gets stasised, p armies just vaporize.

the author of this thread writes with an unstoppable conviction known only to the highest possible level of nerd, and for that i commend him.
however, his conviction is portrayed pretty badly, using false information and pure opinion to justify his arguments (or whatever they are). as such, i don't like it. the post is just too... childish? i'm not sure i'm using the right word.. oh well.
keep loving your video games, but you don't have to make uninformed assumptions about the mechanics of the human mind and einstein to justify it.
