That Columbus was a genius comparable to the likes of Newton who made an intuitive deduction that the world was round, and not flat, when everyone believed otherwise and set out to invent the United States based upon that deduction. When Newton says "I bet if you dropped a brick and a feather in a vacuum they'd fall at the same rate" that's an amazing deductive leap in defiance of popular wisdom. Then he landed in the US and meet with native Americans and they were buddies.

Donald Trump's lawyers understand that obstruction of justice charges against the President are “real and serious", a former US Attorney has said. In addition to four congressional investigations, the US President and his 2016 campaign are under investigation by special counsel and former FBI director Robert Mueller, over claims they colluded with Russia. Mr Trump’s lawyers have met several times with Mr Mueller over recent months and have submitted detailed memos refuting the allegations. And Former US Attorney Preet Bharara said the fact the President's legal representatives had given written responses to the claims showed they recognised their significance. "There may never be any charges, but defense lawyers don't usu waste time on preemptive memos re: frivolous theories of criminal guilt," he wrote on Twitter. www.yahoo.com

This is really stupid. I can understand it being in a children's story but teaching stuff like that in schools is inexcusable.

Is that not true? I thought the shape creates an area of lower density above the wing than below when you force air above and below quickly. Something Bernoulli Effect? Did year 7 physics lie to me? I never bothered to google how planes fly, I trusted school.

It was the 1980s, so it was a while ago and not much has changed. I did some work for my first grade teacher right after college and that book was still in the classroom.

Or rather it's a mishmash of explanations that doesn't make any sense. Well in a nutshell, they do. I feel like i missed the sarcasm here. ![]()

Every single airshow, they fly a plane upside down, because it's safe and easy to do and visually striking. Again, can't tell if serious or not, so i'll let that stand and won't engage further.
