I think the Vice President would need to be impeached as well.

Based on what?

Don't get me wrong, i don't think he'd be much better than Trump, but you can't just remove people willy nilly from office because you don't like their policies.

So far, as far as i can tell, Pence did a good job of not rushing into the spotlight. There's no legal reason to impeach him with what we know so far.

edit:

To be clear, when Bill Clinton was in office, nobody called for Al Gores head either afaik. Makes kinda sense, the entire reason to have a VP in the first place is to have someone in case the president flops over for some reason or another.

I think the point was that Pence cannot be got rid of by any means short of impeaching him. Not that I know anything about it.

Guess i misunderstood then, obviously you can't get rid of him without impeachment. That's not gonna happen though, nobody should get his hopes up on that one - republicans might be already tired of Trump, but Pence is a different flavour of crazy. The (i assume, according to republicans) good kind of crazy. Zealotry, that kinda stuff.

Yeah, Falling was saying Pence won out against Bannon. Since there's basically no way to get rid of Pence, it's a pretty lopsided "fight".

Again, my bad - trying to get my Goliaths under control in another tab, starting to wonder if they got even dumber, only skimmed the posting.

edit:

That's actually fitting i think, arguing trump must be like controlling a 200/200 army of goliaths through a minefield.

Maybe with some dragoons and reaver scarabs thrown in for good measure?

I'm barely able to control two groups of goliaths, don't overdo it. I hate scrm now, shows me how old i actually am. -.-

Got Cattlebruisers now, things are easier.

To Pence's credit, he's stayed out of the media limelight/ scandal spotlight and out of the Trump vs. Republicans-In-Congress showdowns pretty well (probably because everyone around him spontaneously combusts so easily), so there doesn't seem to be too much intel on how vocal Pence is being. I would think if Pence was internally fighting frequently with Bannon or other Trump advisors/ appointees, we would hear about it in some tweets or some other form. I think he's just biding his time, which is probably the best thing he could do, and it's probably good for Pence (who is arguably more establishment than Trump) that Bannon is gone.

Yeah, that's what i meant. There's barely any dirt on Pence, he played it smart so far.

Agreed. Pretty much the only two things I've heard about him recently is that he might be thinking about running for president next election and that he's always prepared to give the tiebreaking vote to Senate Republicans when needed. And those two things are about the tamest and most normal things around.

There's gotta be some infidelity dirt on Pence out there. He has a policy not to drink around any women other than his wife. You know that started after he cheated on her and got caught lol.

Well we could start with the shitshow of a job he did in Indiana. Or talk about his crazy religious tendencies, possibly including what was listed above. But why bother? Trump makes all those faults look irrelevant by comparison.

He refers to his wife as mother. That's just what's public. Also singlehandedly causing an HIV epidemic in Indiana. The reason he agreed to be Trump's VP is that Indiana hated him and he had no other political future.

Being religious is nothing even close to scandalous in the US, even if you take it to the level of pence. That's not "dirt", that's "i disagree with religion" and completely in line with conservatives.

No idea what he did in Indiana. Cheating on your wife is hardly dirt either, especially if it's already known - as long as you don't fuck your secretary in the oval office.

We're not talking faults, we're talking about dirt - things on which base you could attack pence. Being religious certainly isn't in that category. Even if it's to an idiotic level, that's not rare in the US. By that measure, every single televangelist should be jailed (and yeah, they should).

He refers to his wife as mother

That's extremely weird and disgusting, still not dirt and even less so reason to impeach someone. Like, what the fuck are you people even talking about. That electrocuting gays stuff would certainly be, apparently that went past me somehow.

edit:

Reading up on the HIV epidemic, that wouldn't be either. Not from a political standpoint (it's obviously despicable morally). He did what the republicans in general are trying to do: defund/get rid of PP, fuck over public healthcare and drug addicts (/low income/no income people). Not to mention, he did react - he only reacted late.

Again, makes him despicable (personally not really more than he was before already), but not unfit for presidency. Regardless of what happens to trump, the obama-times are over. Maybe not necessarily for the worst.

There is a lot about Pence that is wrong that came out of the election campaign, but it doesn't matter at the moment. Although some democrats might disagree.

If you are more interested in what Pence has been up to, here is an article from a few months ago that offered quite a bit of insight.

Pence is in a unique position because, while he is not the President, he was still elected and can't be fired. But if he wants to remain an influential adviser, he has to watch himself.

I'm not at all surprised that the game plan to trying to defeat Pence would be to tie him to Trump as much as possible. That's a lot like what's about to go down here in New Jersey, with Chris Christie's NJ runningmate/ NJ Lieutenant Governor/ Secretary of State of NJ Kim Guadagno, who is the 2017 Republican gubernatorial nominee.

Actually, that might be correct. As part of the WH, he had to be to some degree careful what he said and the "level of reality" had to match at least somewhat current events.

Now he can go full conspiracy shit again, which would have gotten him fired beforehand.

Simply by not being in meetings, providing input and generally losing the president's ear throughout the day, he is going to lose an insane amount of influence. There is a *reason* Kelly etc pushed bannon out.

On the president.

Certainly not on Trumps base et cetera. Especially in regards to the GOP he can now "take the gloves off" and openly talk shit/dig skeletons (or make them up).

He might've lost influence on the president, but it's completely inarguable that Bannon can do more (including damage) from the outside than from the inside where he's already basically under surveillance of Kelly etc.

Steve bannon was a nobody in American politics 2 years ago. Having the president's ear is the foundation of his entire ability to impact change.

Compare Breitbart traffic to 2 years ago. Internet followings only get you so far. The big accomplishment he had was earning Trump's ear. Bannon got defeated by the establishment. He will still have influence, I am sure, but significantly less.

Bannon was a leading figure at Breitbart since 2012 and, if I remember correctly, involved in Cambridge Analytica since 2013 - both ventures backed by the Mercer family which threw massive support behind Ted Cruz and only later Donald Trump. Bannon as a person was certainly nobody but he was still involved in this adventure that culminated in the current administration from the beginning - longer than Trump himself even.

The bad version of how these events can turn out is that he now knows enough about what is going on in the White House to still be connected while also being free of any constraints that kept him from using that kind of information. Statements of his can now more likely be seen as those of an insider which can be a strong position, especially against the GOP itself. The way I look at it is that if the biggest donor in the 2016 presidential campaign keeps supporting that kind of guy then leaving the WH is more likely to be a planned and strategic move that they assume strengthens their position.

If Breitbart/Bannon get dropped by Mercer, then they're effectively out. Until that happens however I'd still be wary of the guy.

I agree with you, and I think that geript's correction was intended to be a response to whether or not gay conversion therapy is successful, which is not what KwarK was saying. Perhaps geript thought "vegetable" meant "straight" instead of... brain damaged, etc.?
