Saw a fact check of his economic/tax speech. And Trump's gone a long way - a well researched speech with lots of factual statistics from various sources, just some intentional omissions and rounding up.
He's also increased his planned tax brackets quietly to more realistic figures.
And I also like that in his acceptance speech he input mention of struggle of LBGTQ community, a thing unheard of he'd get shot for just a few years back at a republican convention.
Say what you will, I still hope he loses, but It's getting boring how one sided the stuff I watch is (daily show and Colbert's late night)

NEW YORK (AP) — Police arrested and charged a man with murder late Monday night in the brazen daytime shooting deaths of an imam and his friend as they left a New York City mosque.
Oscar Morel, 35, was charged with two counts of second-degree murder and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, police said. It wasn't immediately clear if he had an attorney who could comment on the charges.
Morel was taken into custody late Sunday night for hitting a bicyclist with his SUV just 10 minutes after Saturday's shooting in Queens, said the New York Police Department's chief of detectives, Robert Boyce, at a news conference Monday. Police said they "strongly believed" he was the same person who killed Imam Maulana Alauddin Akonjee and Thara Uddin.
Boyce said Morel was seen on surveillance video fleeing the area of the shooting in a black GMC Trailblazer right after the two were shot in the head. About 10 minutes later, a car matching that description struck a bicyclist nearby in Brooklyn. Morel was arrested outside a Brooklyn apartment after he intentionally rammed his car into an unmarked police cruiser trying to block him in, Boyce said.
Charges against Morel were upgraded Monday night after police said they recovered a revolver at his Brooklyn home and clothes similar to those being worn in the surveillance video that showed the gunman.

Comedy is always more likely to have a liberal bias, and obviously comedy doesn't have to be unbiased news

I think hes wrong, but apparently there are some pretty serious people that think Clinton would expend all that political capital just to get Obama on the court.

When news broke that Ivanka Trump's clothing line doesn't offer workers paid maternity leave, some were surprised. After all, the Republican presidential nominee's daughter has said she champions the rights of working mothers. "Policies that allow women with children to thrive should not be novelties," she said on the last day of the Republican National Convention in July. "They should be the norm."
The truth is, however, that in the United States bearing a child comes at a high price for many women. Despite having one of the world's most advanced economies, the United States lags far behind other countries in its policies for expectant mothers. In addition to being the only highly competitive country where mothers are not guaranteed paid leave, it sits in stark contrast to countries such as Cuba and Mongolia that offer expectant mothers one year or more of paid leave.
Countries finance paid-maternal-leave policies in a variety of ways. Some require that the employer finance the leave; in others, the money comes from public funds. For low-income residents or those who work in the informal sector, an increasing number of governments are providing maternity cash benefits, according to the International Labor Organization, a U.N.-affiliated agency.
From Gambia to Bangladesh, a majority of low- and middle-income countries offer some form of paid leave to mothers. The ILO recommends women be guaranteed at least 14 weeks of paid maternal leave. Some advanced economies, such as Norway, Canada and Sweden, provide at least 26 weeks of paid leave.
Five low-unemployment countries (South Korea, Japan, Czech Republic, Austria and Denmark) offer mothers 52 weeks or more of paid leave. They're among 36 countries in total that, according to our data, provide the most generous paid leave for women. A majority of those countries — 32, to be exact — are in Europe. Russia offers women 140 days of paid maternity leave at 100 percent of their salary.
Experts say offering paid maternity leave can actually boost economic growth. Jody Heymann, founding director of the WORLD Policy Analysis Center and dean of the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health, says that European countries view paid leave for mothers as an investment in their economy. "Most countries have recognized that this is critical to the success of their economy," she said. "Countries can either work with half of their workforce or compete with their full workforce, which requires paid maternity leave."
Roger-Mark De Souza, who leads programs on reproductive and maternal health at the Woodrow Wilson Center, a Washington-based think tank, says part of the reason for Europe’s history of offering paid maternal leave dates back to World War II. Because of mass casualties and ruined infrastructure, there was a need to both integrate women into the workforce and also encourage families to have children. As a result, offering paid maternal leave policies created job security for mothers, thereby promoting economic growth, according to a 2014 study conducted by the Institute for Women’s Policy Research.
Because current U.S. policy doesn't mandate paid maternity leave, many women feel they have to choose between working and raising a family. This gender inequity undermines their prospects of equal opportunity at work — and, experts say, it disproportionately affects women from lower socioeconomic backgrounds. A 2012 study conducted by the Department of Labor found that, of the workers it polled, 23 percent of women who had left work to care for an infant took less than two weeks off, increasing health risks for both mothers and children.

Also Comedy Central decided to cancel Larry Willmore And Suddenly Trevor Noah starts focusing on black shootings etc. and playing the black card in the transition weeks to try and get black viewers to stay at station. I love comedians and media who can at least keep the illusion of honesty and spontaneity, and not much of that's happening

I can guarantee you that the ideological bias of late night comedy starts from Stewart/Colbert and goes on down, the network just uses them to sell beer.
The same way Roger ailes doesn't need to tell hannity how to be a Republican hack, no one at comedy central ever needed to call up Stewart and tell him what to say.

How are maternity and paternity leave not ubiquitous yet -.-'

Trevor Noah always referenced himself as being South African and learning about American/ white culture in his stand-up. Taking over The Daily Show didn't force it.

I can see Trevor Noah having a lot less pull then Stewart/Colbert tho and having or choosing to listen to directions given from on high.

I think the network would have more to say about the production and format of the show rather then making sure the most reliably liberal show on television for the last 15 years is still liberal enough now that it's been handed over to a south African born during apartheid.
I think the shows gotten more liberal since Stewart left, but I'd wager that it's a result of the new hosts opinions rather then executives calling him up like "Talk more about the Blacks!!"

Thats probably more because Black Shootings have gotten a bigger topic recently.

If the two-way differential is 9 points but the Clinton-Trump differential for four-way is only 6 points, doesn't that mean that Hillary is losing more votes to third-party candidates/ hurt more by them than Trump is? She drops by 7 while he only drops by 4.
|
I think so, but it’s also a single national poll. It is all about battle ground states at this point.
|
|
Honestly it's pretty fucking stupid that outlets are reporting on the results of two-way polls.
|
Head to head polls generate headlines, despite being inaccurate predictors of how people will vote.
