The survey would appear to be so bad, in fact, that NBC News' Chuck Todd said Tuesday that the poll basically means the public has declared the Obama presidency to be over.

You can read more about the WSJ/NBC News poll here. Source. Sure ill bite. I wonder how much of it is because of Obama himself and how much is the lack of action by the government caused by the gridlock in congress. Fair question and I imagine that's true to an extent. However, some of the criticism is deserved. The VA has been hit with new scandals and the VA has received large budget increases from Congress. Also, the patent office has been behaving pretty weird so far this year: They have the ability to spot and block a trademark that isn't politically correct but not the ability to block a patent that is obviously stupid as all fuck? Even after the White House has been supposedly trying to crack down on patent trolls for years now? I don't get it... Also: + Show Spoiler + US patents have been stupid for decades. Sorry but I don't blame that on Obama.
I will grant XDaunt that his foreign policy, which some Americans see as weak, is on him and him alone. I was merely raising the point that Presidential approval has a lot of noise in it and will be effected by the worst rated congress in history. And no that's not because of Obama being unwilling to comprise but because from the moment he was elected the Republicans are on record as saying they will do anything to stop him regardless of the consequences, remember we had this conversation about every few hundred pages.

xDaunt, who accuses Obama for the lack of bipartisanship even when there are Republicans on record and quotes from their strategic documents delineating strategy whose only goal is to basically block everything they can without any actual wish for a compromise. Feel free to point all of the things that Obama has led on both domestically and abroad. The last time I asked this question, the sole listed accomplishment was hilariously insignificant. Which I did not comment on so I have no idea what you are talking about ? I pointed out that the lack of bipartisanship is basically solely on Republicans.
As for what he accomplished. That is the big illusion, leader that achieves nothing is already better than average as most of them are achieving negative things. In foreign policy the bad things he did were continuation of stuff that Bush started and Republicans love. And he deserves to be blamed for that. But otherwise he was fairly not sticking out, which in foreign policy is the best praise.
On domestic front he achieved very little of good things, mostly due to what was actually point of my previous post. Did some stupid or evil shit, but competing with Bush, please.

The problem aren't politicians, the problem is the ideology. As long as the gop doesn't come up with something better than "less government!! Free market is awesome!" and "we don't really like gay people and stupid atheists" this party is not going to convince a majority of the population.
Also some stats on libertarians(http://publicreligion.org/research/2013/10/2013-american-values-survey/). They don't represent a really big group of people (only 7% of Americans would consider themselves "consistent libertarian" and black persons and hispanics are practically non existent among them. I can hardly see such a person representing the Republicans.

He's a radio personality. It doesn't change the fact that he does a better job communicating conservative ideals than any current politician does and that his conservative ideas are more influential than any conservative politician's. And yet this "troll" is the best conservative leader they have. Shows the state of the movement, and if that's the sort of thing its followers want to hear I can see why. You know this whole "Candidates destroy themselves trying to appease the bigot base" happens because people like Limbaugh spoon feed these dumb smucks right? No, I disagree. The problem is that conservatives have been without a sufficiently talented politician to lead the movement since first term W. As soon as one shows up, the ship will right itself. We'll just have to see what happens. My prediction has been that someone from the libertarian ranks will be next big conservative politician and help reshape the movement. The problem aren't politicians, the problem is the ideology. As long as the gop doesn't come up with something better than "less government!! Free market is awesome!" and "we don't really like gay people and stupid atheists" this party is not going to convince a majority of the population. No, the problem isn't the core ideology. Let's play a little game. Who can articulate the conservative argument for allowing gay marriage? The only relevant conservative 'pro' gay marriage argument is the libertarian one, which says that instead of allowing gays to marry, we should just do away with state marriage. Yeah, basically this, but with the understanding there has to be some minimal state involvement to manage the legal consequences of the relationship.

Correction, Government minimalism are part of the RHETORIC of both libertarians and conservatives. Conservatives don't support limited government, they just support the status quo of crony capitalism. In the spirit of such, they want to deregulate some things while adding more regulations elsewhere. This does not make them different from the liberal POV, they just take different sides on different issues. Libertarians haven't really carried out any of their rhetoric (not that they've had a chance to) so it remains to be seen whether its anything more than such.

And it will take maybe a month or two before everyone finds something he isn't 'conservative/libertarian enough' about and the puritans will swarm.
The problem that is being pointed out is that it isn't the messaging of the more radical ideologies that is the problem for the right, it's the ideologies and their pervasiveness themselves.
For instance you show that conservatives should not oppose gay marriage based on ideology, yet where has most of the support for Marriage bans come from? Conservatives....
So either Gay Marriage bans aren't conservative policy or people advocating them aren't really conservatives, yet here we are...

Conservatives as the name suggests are for status quo especially on social issues. I am distinguishing between Republicans and conservatives as parties in US are just mishmash of very strange bedmates. So no, among conservatives the wish for smaller government is overridden in social issues, because they are ... conservatives.

In reality the majority of people who call themselves conservatives are bigots when it comes to topic like gay marriage, drug policy, or law enforcement. It doesn't really matter if you argue that this isn't real conservatism, but in the end it is what it is and many "conservatives" support these backward policies.
