It's even worse than caring about scrim results. Why wouldn't they? Does the cash don't matter? Are C9, TSM and ALL not good enough teams? You assume that most teams think "there are only two tournaments that matter at all - Summer Playoffs and Worlds (which results of can be predicted upon seeing the groups most of the time?) and the other 10 months of the year aren't worth putting effort into? I care because this is the closest we get to the "traditional" tournament circuit as seen in Dota, CS, fighting games etc. (and because I'll see one of these teams in Katowice in few months ).
Because it's not even close to be established competition. New patch, new teams, it's basically OGN Preseason for money, lol. Battle of Atlantic had cash prize as well, didn't prevent it from sucking hardcore, Fnatic not giving fucks about overall results, agonizing Lemondogs and XDG getting wrecked by Amumu support. Best example of BotA is literally Alternate-CLG.
I'm not saying that everyone should just ignore it, but gotta take results with large grain of salt. (Hope i will be able to go to Katowice this time again :^) )

#FORYEARS Holy shit :D Not going to argue about [A], no more NA/EU until Worlds.

I see it comming:
Wickd: Hey froggen should we give up this dragon? I mean its the 5th in a row? Froggen: Yeah man we can't fight them. I mean i could if i had a good team. Give it up and farm under tower! Wickd: Ok boss. Nyph: But the 5th dragon buff is so strong? Froggen: Wut.

@Wonderful: Alliance have something to prove after Worlds. I don't remember ever seeing C9 not take a tournament seriously. TSM obviously want to win in USA. I guess UoL might be a wildcard and maybe they only care about being in LCS and don't have the drive/expectations to be the best, but that's 3 teams that I don't really understand why wouldn't take the tournament seriously. NA playoffs were played on a new patch with big changes, which team didn't deserve the place they got ?
Bota was a lot different. It was single ft2 per team and they played for some ambigous "regional rivalry" and were trying to be funny with trashtalking and in-game disrespect etc.

I think I read somewhere you cant join an lcs team in the first 4 weeks, when you participated in the expansion tournament.
And ofc people care about IEM lol. After all this time I even care about Fusion and Coast lol. It's like in soccer when you watch 2nd division after summer break, cause it starts 2 weeks earlier.

I vaguely remember that this is the rule introduced after the lemondogs fiasco and it's that no more than you can only have 2/5 players per team that participated in the promotion or expansion tournament, but I didn't really check that lately.

You can join team, you can't play for 4 weeks if you played in Expansion. Basically, it's like situation when PartinG joined T1, when he wasn't able to play until mid-season.

That's why China is legit.
If someone is in doubt though:
>> http://euw.leagueoflegends.com/en/news/esports/esports-editorial/lcs-2015-na-and-eu-expansion-tournament-details "If a player that played in the most recent split for a professional team (where 'Professional' is defined as a team competing in the highest division or tier of the NA LCS, EU LCS, Garena Premier League, OGN Champions, or Tencent League of Legends Pro League) then plays in the Expansion Tournament and successfully gains entry into the LCS, that player cannot be acquired by another LCS organization until after the completion of the 4th regular season week in their respective regions. For the avoidance of doubt, this includes if the player leaves the organization under his own volition, if the organization terminates the relationship between the player and the organization, or if the organization attempts to trade the player."

So if Ryu qualified for LCS then he couldn't go to another team for 4 weeks, but since he didn't then he actually can? Though Fly confirmed that this is only for IEM and apparently they scrimed with Nuke just today.

If you watched the expansion tournament, I don't see how you can be hype about Ryu
|
I'm not, just theorytizing about the rules.
Altough I guess part of me hopes that now on a better team, after more time in mid and at IEM again he performs better.
|
It was kinda sad to see him play so bad
