Get real guys If the training house supplies food, sure it may be ok. But lets be serious you are a pro gamer making 15k/y for 5 years that is a total of 75k (~50k after taxes) for 5 years of your life. If you save 100% of it, you would be on a nice start to a retirement plan. However after you finish your progaming career where do you go? You're ~25 with a pretty bad resume, your hope is to stay within the scene as a commentator, writer, etc. That savings you had over the course of 5 years will mostly used up by the time you get back on your feet. Last but not least, lets say they practice 56 Hours per week (I'm sure some put in 70+). That comes just under $7 per hour, factor that in with they are the best in that particular field of work, its a very very small number even I can top that number by streaming. I'm not saying progaming isn't lucrative, but 15k/y is a horrible estimate. Didn't Destiny say he gets at least 50k/y on his own? The difference between Destiny and other progamers is that the other progamers win serious cash in tournaments also. http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/Winnings#Top_10_player_per_prize_money_winnings -- Look at the top 10, winnings for #10 is ~30k. That is not much money over the course of a year atleast in the USA. IdrA is only at 20k for winnings over the year, put the ~15k that was suggested he is at 35k/y which is just enough to get by comfortably without roommates around here. All I'm saying is the big names most likely make more than 15k/y from their team. Looking at that list, i find it rather interesting that the foreigners sat all of the money is in the west but the people making the most money are koreans...particularly ones that have never even left korea.

I'm not saying progaming isn't lucrative, but 15k/y is a horrible estimate. Didn't Destiny say he gets at least 50k/y on his own? Have you heard of a thing called a UNIVERSITY? It's a weird magical place that students that have finished High School go to in order to get something called a degraa... degrede?? Degree, that's the word. A degree. Which they later use to get a job. Being 25 is not the end of the fucking world. Actually the fact that your life isn't off to the greatest start is the problem with progaming. It doesn't seem realistic to say that you'll have a lot of savings, and if you don't want to be lonely for the rest of your life you'll want to have children, and children cost tons of money, which shouldn't be a problem if you're working your way up the work ladder, but oh wait "you're just a progamer, yeah my super important company wants you...not. You'll probably just game on the job." You have such a twisted view of what a pro gamer's life is like I literally can't understand how your brain works. What is the problem really? That you spent a few years having a blast, doing what you love doing and earning money doing it? Is that somehow a problem? I don't understand. Who has lots of savings going straight in to university? Not many. There are things called student loans and scholarships or stipends that anyone can get if they look hard enough. Most people aren't willing to look farther out than their bedroom window though, so I understand how it may seem impossible to you. Who says you'll be alone your entire life? Being 25 is young, really fucking young. I'm not planning on having kids until I'm at least 28. If I'm a sad loner for my entire life up until 25, I have three years I can learn mad social skills, and at 28 I can find a girl I like and start a family with. Forever alone? Doesn't look like it to me. Children cost money, yeah. But if you live an average persons life, you have two people making the income. Guess what? Women are allowed to get jobs now. Did you know that? Let's pull a number. 40,000 USD a year as a University graduate. You're 29-30 now maybe, and you want to start a family with a girl. She has a job as well. If she hasn't, what the fuck are you doing with her? She'll probably earn the same amount you do, so that's 80k a year you're earning together. You share everything, because that's what you do when you're a family. 80k is a fucking lot of money. Children are expensive, sure. But you are the parent, so you can set the limitations. Just because they want shit doesn't mean you have to give it to them. Teach them the value of money, make them work for their toys. Just because they want the newest video game console, doesn't mean you have to give them what they want. All you have to do is feed them and buy them clothes. No boss is going to think you'll spend all your time playing video games. What ever made you think that, I have no idea. Yeah, that was me being cocky with my assumptions. But let's apply starcraft logic to the real world. You want to get an early lead and then get more ahead in starcraft. I want to do the same in life. Admittedly, if you're good enough to be a progamer, then one or two nights a week you could just do an easy peez online tourney and make a few hundred. Women have jobs? Oh yeah. Forgot about them cuz we're on the internet. Touche, I agree with you. Pro gaming is something everyone should do if they have the talent for it.

A "pro-gamer" makes 15 000 / year and does not have to pay for any of that except insurance, mb. a car. On top of that they bring in money for tournaments, coaching, streaming, show-matches. That would leave them with more money left in the bank at the end of each month than most "standard" families. Not to say that 15 000/year is good or even livable in most western countries but if you remove everything the teams pay for them during the period they have this salary you end up with a very good way to stockpile quite a large sum of money each month. Doing this and actually having a plan for afterwards, be it going back to school or working with something else and youve got yourself a way to do what you want and prepare yourself for "real-life" afterwards.
