Nah recipes are adapted to the 'local' taste and the 'local' marketing strategy, goes for pretty much everything, from soft drinks to beer. It goes beyond taste even, they actually change the color of drinks depending on the market. French fanta is like twice as orange as the dutch one, mexican coke tastes differently from US coke due to the sugar used, grolsch export tastes like dutch heineken, export heineken tastes like budweiser and pepsi in the netherlands is something I consider undrinkable while in the US it don't actually mind it at all. Anecdotal 'evidence', but still, when I was younger I used to work at a cafe, and the cafe was under a pepsi contract (only pepsi soft-drinks; pepsi, 7-up, nestea, etc), and it happened quite often that someone ordered a 'cola' (generic dutch term for a 'coke') and they'd bitch when you'd serve them a pepsi. Wasn't even young people, was mainly people over 40 that grew up on the taste of coca-cola and never tried pepsi. | ||
