I can't believe this still is needed but religious and gun control side discussions will be met with harsh penalties from page 52 and onwards.

From Al Jazeera: The attack comes days after Norwegian prosecutors filed a terrorism charge against Mullah Krekar, founder of the Kurdish Islamist group Ansar al-Islam, who is accused of threatening a former minister, Erna Solberg, with death.

Also we are active in the Libya thing, so it wouldn't be a big surprise if Norway was targeted. However, as of yet, it's still not confirmed as a bomb, so I wouldn't bother going into all of that right now... may not even be an attack.

I wonder if Denmark, Sweden or Finland will be next ![]() Don't worry...regardless of terrorism, Scandinavian countries are going to rank really really high on the Peace Index. No need to get worried, that is what causes more fear imo.

we're "lucky" this happened during summer when Oslo is less populated then during the rest of the year, but I'm shaking and feeling both afraid and angry.

Denmark is the nation in Afghanistan to have lost most troops per capita, they are stationed in Helmand, the most violent of the provinces. Denmark has also got a deployment in Iraq and have also played a role in Libya. Both Norway and Denmark more than lift their international responsibilities. EDIT: Before people jump to conclusions, is it actually confirmed to be a bomb/terrorist attack? The danish media state that it is unknown what has caused the explosion. Even if it's a bomb, the other conclusion that people are jumping to is that this is the work of Middle Eastern terrorists - the Bologna, Oklahoma and Madrid bombings were initially wrongly attributed (to left wingers, Islamists and Basque terrorists respectively) so you have to be careful with this sort of thing. t might well be Afghanistan/Al Qaeda related (still probably the likeliest IMO), but if it is, there's an apparent change of strategy. The "bomb" was also aimed squarely at a Western political leader, which hasn't generally been the Al-Qaeda modus operandi in the past. They've been content just to blow up large groupings of innocent civilians, because they wanted whatever knock-on political effects that the fact that people were being bombed had (polarising opinions, radicalising muslims, inciting wars in the middle east to destabilise the regimes there, for instance). Here, this looks more like an assassination attempt, and those guys wouldn't really care too much who the Prime Minister of Norway happens to be. I think it's unlikely that this is Libya-related since 1) Gadaffi probably shut down the infrastructure to do this sort of thing himself a decade or so back, just before he became the Bush/Blair poster boy for the Iraq War, and nowadays half his country is shooting at him, making this sort of thing more difficult and less pressing to do and 2) Al Qaeda isn't likely to bomb anybody on his behalf, since he's one of those secular Arab leader types that they hate. I suppose a motive might be that this guy's replacement might be less likely to support bombing Libya, but planting bombs in cities would be more likely to get public support FOR taking military action to change the government of Libya rather than against. Something people havent' mentioned is that It might also be the work of fringe domestic political extremists deciding to start their careers off with a spectacular bang, or even just a lone lunatic with an imaginary grudge against the government, and the wherewithal to make a bomb or two. Of course this is all premature, ill-informed speculation on my part, but if someone's trying to kill people nearby, you can't help but try to work out why...
