Something is up with league changes, but we don't know what specifically is the root cause. Blizzard is aware of the issue and are testing a hotfix. -- Excal_Z 6/15 This does not mean that there is a global ladder lock!! There is some bug affecting some players but it is not universal. -- Excal_Z 6/16 Might be fixed. Some of the affected players were promoted. Need more data. -- Excal_Z 6/17 |

This isn't true. Please read the thread before posting.

That hasn't been true for like 6 months. Something is up with the ladder, they've identified an issue and are testing a hotfix. We don't know exactly what the issue is. It could be a partial lock, it could be some bugged players, it could be something not updating properly, it could be a side effect from the last fix. Also, given that MMR works on a moving average, it should be obvious that you will get promoted even if you don't lose, since your moving average will eventually cross the league threshold if you keep winning (although you might, for example, reach masters level by the time your moving average hits diamond).

Blizzard has acknowledged that there is a bug on SOME leagues which will not allow promotion.
Will people please read thing at the top of the page which explains this, and stop saying its because your MMR needs to stabilize because you are wrong.

When will it be fixed though. OMFG

Hoping for a fast fix! Thanks

Well I followed up, they're not gonna be able to give me any updates on the bug. Chances are people will figure out when it gets fixed because people we know who are affected by the issue will start getting promoted :>

Well, thanks for trying at least. I guess I'll be clueless and keep wasting my time laddering until promo. -.-

And when I say "people affected by the issue" I mean people like this http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/profile/642473/1/Brolettuce/ladder/45622#current-rank. This guy has 1056 adjusted points and he's in Gold league, and based on what we understand about the ladder, he should have been promoted long ago because his MMR is so high that a promotion should have prevented him from getting this many points.
I don't want this thread to be full of people saying "why am I not promoted, I'm plat and I've faced diamonds for a long time blah blah" because it's understood that Diamond promotions take longer, and various other examples of people generally not understanding the system. We don't know how widespread the problem is, but when people like the guy I linked get promoted, we'll know it's fixed.

Diamond promotions take longer? You, sir, are an idiot. My friend got promoted to plat one day, and like 3 days later got promoted to diamond. GG sir.

What he means is, there are always people whining about not being promoted because they fought "a few diamond players" and think they instantly should be in diamond. Though this bug is becoming incredibly silly, I faced a GM player on my smurf yesterday and the account is still in diamond...

I agree with what you said, except for the part where you were unnecessarily rude for no reason.

What was the GM players name? Some GM players have very low MMR.

Yeah I faced a master, and I'm plat. Starcraft I was rude because people say crap like they know what they're talking about and they don't. Don't post wrong info.

The time is irrelevant. Diamond covers a larger skill range than Gold, Silver, or Plat, so it takes longer to move into it. Read the ladder guide!

Would be nice if blizzard released a mass press statement when something like this happens. maybe something like to everyone's email or on the main news board of sc2? "sorry for the inconvenience, but whatever you do for the next couple of days won't matter as much"
Obviously not that stupid, and obviously their actions matter. I was just making up an example. Still they should do it.
|
Do that and people will be complaining later on that there's a problem with promotions when there isn't.
I agree that Blizzard needs more transparency, but I don't think that's the way to handle it.
Best way would be to just make mmr public imo.

So has anyone actually been promoted AFTER 6/15? I feel like this is a global problem and not only affecting some leagues like Blizzard claims.
