I was watching RgnPhoenix yesterday and his new account placed into diamond. He is 30-0 and is only facing masters player. No promotion yet.
I've seen people get promotion to masters even at 10-0 in the past.

In this thread here: http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/topic/2661227233 someone said that there is a service update coming soon (they said it 6 hours ago), but did not provide a source, of course. Has anyone heard this too and has a source to go with it? I've been unable to find one thus far.

At this moment when you log into US battle.net there is a box on the left side of the screen that says a service update is coming soon. There's no mention of what it will fix but let's hope this bug gets squashed with this update.

Playing on two accounts atm, both on the EU server, due to a little misshappening when actually first trying to buy the game
On my main account, where i have been playing most of my matches (about 110 matches season 2) I am in bronze, ranked nr1 and playing a mix of bronze, gold and plat. Have not been promoted but thats not big deal since i still feel i get matched with equally skilled opponents.
However, on my second account which has been "inactive", I decided to play the placements matches just to see where I would end up being placed. I won 4 out of my 5 matches and was placed in gold. I was then matched against mostly platinum players and lost about 8 games in a row. Then I played a bronze player and got promoted to platinum. This was a couple of days ago.
I don't understand how the ladder system works, with points and mmr and all that, it just seems so random. I would place my skill level at silver/low gold. And why get promoted after loosing a bunch of games?

See I hope my ability to be promoted is not hindered because i played over 250 games in my current league so i have to work extra hard to get out because i have been in it so long?

think its still bugged.. I finally got my own EU account this week and started playing it a lot yesterday, I lost one of my first placement games to a proxy 2gate PvP (it was sad, i scouted him and he had 1 pylon up so I just assumed he was bronze/REALLY bad, and it bit me in the butt when proxy zealots walked into my base) anyways so with 4-1 I was placed in platinum..
Since then, im about 25-2 but still in platinum, and my MMR is matching me vs 800-1400 masters consistently now so I think thats warrant of a masters promotion.. the last time I made an account on US server I was promoted to masters around 15 games.
pretty lame, im wasting all my bonus points in platinum cause of this bug =[

Tue it isnt locked because of season 3 coming up or anything...season 3 is aways away still.

I find it unlikely there'll be a new season coming any time soon. Season 2 really isn't that old.
Confirming EU is still broken, anyway. Gone 90-6 and still bronze while facing mainly high level plats, as well as a few diamond and one masters.

they did say each season would be 3-4 months, and the last one started April.. so April - May - June.. Expect the season to end either end of this month or end of next month

Im in the same boat, #1(by a fair margin) in my gold and consitantly play top 10 plats to mid 50's diamonds, and win or lose, no promotion. I was actually thinking it may be bugged, but really , it doesnt matter that much as long as its still matching you vs people of equal skill, whats the difference.

I agree that it is unlikely that a new season is coming, but according to Blizzard it actually is. The new season technically, should be here in less than 2 weeks. 3 month seasons (season 2 started 3/27/11) That means only 11 days till the 3 month mark.
So a new season shouldn't be TOO far away.

they also said they would notify us ahead of time before the new season was gonna come. but they did say they planned on a 3 month season

Last time they mentioned 'the 3 month plan' was 3 weeks ago at EU Bnet forums http://eu.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/topic/2151757258?page=2#27
But as there has not been any announcements yet, I would guess they are not in schedule.
