Self-plagiarism is complicated, it's not like reusing your work is always plagiarism. For example, your thesis includes the work that you've published in journals/conferences before, and it's obviously fine and has always been like that. In the OP's case, it's not plagiarism. Where do these trolls/retards come from and drag the thread? Let's enjoy the fun please.

I vote to close the thread?

why would you have to cite your own work? that's nonsense, though i've heard of it before. btw, funny thread! hope you get an A ^_^

You only have to cite your own work if its been published, due to the fact that im pretty sure the journal you submit it to ends up owning the paper. Thats why you always see people citing themselves in books/journal articles.

I'll bet the professor was so pleased with himself. He googled some text and hey, there's a match! This student plagiarized everything from some obscure site that follows Korean (wtf) computer gaming! Got that sneaky bastard!

Lol, how did he find it? Would google really bring up a TL article?

lol...i don't think professors get off on catching their students for cheating. it's just something that they (unfortunately) have to do

something special about plated.rawr doing what he did in this particular thread
looks like a mad short paper though but interesting enough gj

A for awesomeness. Couldn't you have just logged on to this account in front of your professor though?

Do we have any lurking professors in our midst?

Yup, and alot of post secondary institutions will punish you for it even if the work isn't published. It's stupid, but it happens. I don't appreciate it when you imply I am retarded, because this could be construed as plagiarism if he didn't cite himself, since the article on TL.net is likely property of TL.net as soon as he posts it.

I always wondered about this when people posted their term papers and such on here.

I wish the professor would post here lol

Hahahaha, I don't think I've ever heard of a case like this before. It's pretty amusing to say the least. I agree with cgringer though, next time don't reuse old work.
