WCG Nationals are starting by tomorrow here in Germany, Leipzig on the Games Convention Online event.
Mondragon, aCe, Closer and other good players can't come to the final, but still very skilled players are left.

why wouldn't it be interesting without mondragon ? If anything its more interesting because there is no one to outright smash all, and everyone has a decent chance of winning.

im pretty sure kolll is in much better shape than mondi right now, hes probably not coming because hes not the clear favorite anymore

i dont think it would be an upset if kolll wins. hes really active, massing games on iccup from day 1 the last three seasons, and hes always somewhere in the top 5 ranked foreigners on iccup

Whoever thinks Mondi would utterly dominate this if he went for it.. seems not to know about kolll..
his ZvT and his ZvZ are absolutely great..
he's probably better than Mondi right now..

Well, Mondragon may lose in the round of 8 of a big foreigner tournament, but I think he would still be the favorite to win, regardless.
Still, WCG was made for upsets and I think German players are very strong, so anything could happen.

Kolll and Horror are the best players for now in Germany. I personally like Infernal, Closer and other german guys, but if those 2 will make it - it will be FAIR

kolll is the first german player i know.. who i would mistake with a korean amateur or semi pro when i didnt know it was him in certain games..
his muta micro is really good..

I thought Kolll vs Naruto game 2 was pretty good.

Koll has very good mechanics, but that's it. It's probably because he didn't play the game too long and has some leaks in its other aspects.
Nevertheless, Horror is much worse than him.

I watched Koll's replays and from what I've seen he looked pretty strong. Looking forward to seeing how he will perform at the Grand Finals.

Congrats to Koll - destroying the competition!
I really hope he trains hard to put on a good show. My impression is that ret is still a better zerg, but koll has a stronger muta component - if he's able to strengthen his macro, and his midgame control, he could do very well.

Yeah, his mutaliks control is really, really good, but other than that he has a few holes in his game, i.e. decision making. Some examples that struck me during the WCG games:
- making evolution chambers zvt (dunno about zvp), way before he using them for anything
- vs Breakdown on Python there was moment where he was just barely in negative supply (few lords got killed), he didn't build an overlord for like a minute and then made at least 9 lords at once (I think he was on 4 hatcheries at that point)
- leaving overlords in weird places, waiting to get killed (weren't scouting ovis or lords that moved due to muta stacking)
also, his hive play could use some refinement. All that aside I am still very impressed
