Agree with the predictions, unfortunately, but I'm hoping for a Canata loss, so we can see XellOs play his gutsy little TvZ again. But it's not a big dead because he's playing Thefailzerg, and he's never that interesting.
Freakishly, I think ACE has the best possible matchups for tonight. (Aside from Bisu v Yellow). Not sure if that will help them, but it should make things interesting.

I agree with this somewhat. However, I really really can't see Bisu or Fantasy dropping their games.. and I'd favor thezerg and canata even if it is their weaker matchups... it IS SKT1 vs ACE afterall.

Oversky could probably take a game off Fantasy, who has a decidedly average vs Z (except for vs JD), especially seeing as he apparently practiced something other than ZvZ (note that this isn't god's garden, where most of his recent games have been). I think all SKT players besides Bisu are equallly likely to drop their games tonight. edit : Fantasy lost to Hogil recently...
ace seems to be able to upset everyone, but i think skt1 is an exception since they have such a high level of play from so many different players.....and especially bisu no mater how much it pains me to say it
Alright, for this match I have finally added my "favorite progaming team." Now I feel like I've accomplished something today other than masturbating, eating Cheetos, and cycling 100k.
Chinese commentator: Even though SKT is one of the best teams and ACE is one of the worst, T1 coaching still doesn't send BoxeR or oov for us to see some old-school rivalry matches. I really hate that damn team.
Anyway, constant bashing of the Chinese commentator is getting rather trite and grates even more than his accent. Know that it is only because of him and his organization that we can watch the games at all, so I'd appreciate it if everyone could shut up about him.

There's certainly nothing wrong with one language most people can't understand to another most people can't understand, but it's certainly not what we're all used to I'm sure. But of course we're grateful, it's just strange to listen to 已有人真的遠遠甚至決定使用甚至想要做看起來更像 instead of 정말 누구도 심지어 멀리 가지를 사용하기로 결정되었습니다 더처럼 보이게하고 싶지.
Canata starting to mass factories and upgrades with his three bases. Anytime starts his fourth again, and starts massing gateways himself. Vultures out to harass, but there don't seem to be many holes for Canata to exploit.
Canata is playing a lot like Fantasy here. And that's a pretty good idea in TvP. I especially love the vultures constantly roaming the map along with a dropship with two tanks ready to help.

Anytime was doing fine until mass vultures caught him maynarding probes. Hard to recover from that, and it's hard to predict your opponent going mass vultures in the first place.

Konadora + people using his stream, keep that drama out of livereport threads. Whether or not konadora chooses to impose his will on his stream is his own business; TL does not pass judgment on it.
I actually thought that strat by Fantasy was super-risky. If Oversky had used better muta micro to pick off those early marines on that first push by fantasy, he would have no expansion and Oversky would have muta pressure to keep him contained.
this is sketchy for ace bisu is already smiling pre-game because he knows hes gonna win yellow on the other hand, looks stressed....has not won a proleague game during his service, is against bisu, and the set depends on him
TBH, YellOw threw all the games he lost...he was simply waiting for either Jaedong or Bisu to make his first win. Now, he'll proceed to have 100% winrate and get a million Starleague Golds...

id almost think the game was staged... bisu doing some anti micro there while defending wasting all his reavers to the initial hydras ... effort and bisu lose what a bad day for my fantasy team >_<; but great for yellow, felt he didnt play that wlel tho, and his ceremony was a weak one too (he didnt even look too happy T_T)
On June 20 2009 14:31 PoP wrote: Awesome play by YellOw but tbh it's more Bisu totally screwing up than anything else. :/
Running that reaver into the hydras was absolutely terrible, and so was that zealots/reaver defense against the drop. Not bisuesque at all.
Yeah Bisu sucked, but it is his perogative to not suck when facing "bad" players. I'm sure YellOw knew Bisu thought he was bad, Bisu should have expected something like this right from the start, since an inferior player will always seek to covertly slap their opponent with a silent noodle.
So YellOw's mind wins, even if his hands wouldn't have been able to.

Ooo, we got our glimpse of Yellow for the year. He came back last year and beat Free in GOM only to fucking suck for the next year or so. Now he comes back with another gimmick win.
Now go back to sucking again because that's all you're ever good for. I'll never forgive you for being bunker rushed 3 times in a fucking row, and for the fact that you've NEVER won a single thing.
Yellow feigned an attack at the back of the natural by mining those mins out which Bisu saw. I'm assuming Bisu thought that was a possible fake as well and decided to defend against both a hydra break and a natural flank.

well for me this game was like my favorite player losing the a player that I genuinely dont like, but meh... Bisu will win tons of games, but I what I really like is that all his losses are historical - the game vs boxer, the game vs chrh, vs jaedong on andromeda and blue storm and now this.
I really like Bisu, but taht was a wonderful game plan by Yellow, well-executed. Played on Bisu's scouting and paranoia and forced Bisu to build cannons in all the wrong places.
I can't believe how many of you are saying yellow sucks. Its like boxer beating jangbi or best tvp , it is just unthinkable. Even a cheese win against bisu is hard to do!

Sad, but true. This would basically sum up Yellows career in a nutshell. Beat someone, then get utterly humiliated later. Fail to ever accomplish anything significant (Golds?)

well no, what made all these games historical is : boxer in the army > current MSL champ, obviously, ChRH winning his first game in 3 years again vs the current best player, YellOw - the same. JD vs Bisu on blue storm marked the establishment of JD as the best player in the scene, if anyone doubted his ZvP to that point, besides the game will give wet dreams to all zerg and jaedong fans till the day they die. TheZerg saved up some lings and Mutalisks, and as Xellos was dropping a dropship of MnM to TheZerg's expansion, TheZerg used Mutaling to break into Xellos' main, while Xellos killed off TheZerg's natural. However, TheZerg's main has 3 Sunkens and is still producing Mutalisks, so Xellos lost.

It's the kind of awesome crowd-pleasing play that we really don't see very often anymore. It almost looks like Bisu gave up at certain points, if you look at his horrible micro .

No one's denying that Bisu is the better player. It's just awesome to see an old school gamer take down a top player of the current generation and considering who the players are makes it that much more special.
Yellow's scarab dodging was very good. I think he never lost more than 1 hydra to a scarab and his overlord scarab dodge was one of the pimpest things I've seen for a long time.

it was an all-in build yes. but it wasnt the buggy reaver ai that sealed the deal, it was carelessly losing that one reaver by running into hydras. everyone has to deal with reaver ai, but losing a reaver for nothing that early in the game?
plus, you cant knock yellow's micro. where he would pick up his hydras in his ovies against reavers? or where he morphed hydras into lurks and cancels after more hydras are dropped off?
it was a combination of careless mistakes by bisu, sick micro by yellow that sealed the deal FOR THE GREATEST GAME OF THE YEAR!

I have to agree. Bisu hasn't dealt with early game zerg heavy micro players since july used to hydra break him. The hydra pickup/drop is something you'd only see back pre-2006

yellow won with sick micro, and one fatal careless mistake by bisu.
also, i think the fact that yellows build was so fucking werid threw bisu off.
i mean, as a toss how do you react to this? speedling into expo followed by lair + hydra den followed by no more information for toss? by the time sair went out, the 3cm drop already came and that was the beginning of the end

watch the game. It's worth every minute. With sound. Yes, on the one hand, it's just another game, from just another player. on the other, listen to the cheering at the end, and tell me that's not what any sort of competition or sport is about.
Thank you ACE, for reminding me why I keep watching this game.
the thing is, bisu besides the one careless reaver micro, responded REALLY FUCKING WELL to yellows aggression. i mean you remember that maphack like sair fnding the drop, he had his inital group of zealots deny the lurkers the chance to knock out his cannons at main, you had reaver/zlot group that eliminated all but 1 hydra before reinforcements came from yellow. he was just caught with his pants down teching up to reaver/sair combo.

Must disagree with that. He suicided a reaver (which was HUGE at that point) and his defense against the hydras/lurkers drop was quite careless. I mean the zealots took tons of lurker hits for absolutely nothing.
Anyway that's from what I can remember, only watched the game live.

Yup. That whole game should be on the pimpest play list for 2009.

as a protoss player, i have to contest that it's hard to keep the lurkers within range check-still with the opportunity and speed of movement to pick them off should they unburrow to get closer (to cannons and mineral line in this case) i don't know what else, other than taking lurker shots, and staying marginally close within range, would have let him throw down enough cannons for the next possible drop i have no doubt he was counting on yellOw to take his eyes off his trapped hydras based on how he'd probably be working on his contingency plan, after the drops as he WAS defending well. i'd rather give it to yellOw for moving down with his hydras when he did, so he had a chance to catch the reaver
i'd take the game for what it is, becuase any other protoss wouldn't have sent a corsair in time, wondering where some of the overlords have been in specific moments of early game bisu's play exudes confidence, but yellOw' earlier displayed brilliance, and preperation
Didnt anyone watch Yellow rape tosses in GOM season 1? He used the exact same build + a bunch of extra cool all ins. This was pretty epic, but him beating Free one of the top PvZers in a bo3 in GOM was even more impressive imo. Everyone must watch those games. This cant be called a PP09 since the same EXACT build was used by Yellow in GOM, forgot vs who.
Except for the fact that he did it against the best protoss right now, who also happens to be the best pvzer of all time and on a map that favors protoss in pvz, after two of his teammates got rocked and if he lost, ace would lose 0-3.
Hyped up games involving historic players often leave me underwhelmed, this is not the case with Bisu vs Yellow. I just finished the vod, one of the most exciting SC matches I have watched recently even with out the historic epicness. With group of death coming up next week this is a great week for pro sc!
Yellow's game reminded me of one of the games from the favorite progame thread, the one where Boxer on ace planned 30 mins ahead of time against hiya in TvT on Blue Storm, similar incident here where Yellow was in control of the game even though it didn't look like it.
holy shit I just watched the game for the first time the hairs on the back of my neck were literally on end when it was over and the crowd was chanting yellow's name omfggggggg
I haven't been so excited over a single game in quite a while. The way the commentators and the crowd were so into it, it was awesome. Even I was screaming at my comp when I was watching it live. Just wow.
Just watched the Bisu/YellOw match finally; fucking awesome atmosphere and fun strategy by YellOw! Bisu did make that horrible mistake losing that reaver though, but very well played by YellOw of course.

It's to commemorate Yellow's retirement. This was probably the greatest win of the twilight of his career. It probably shouldn't have been bumped as an entire thread, but the game definitely deserves a watch.
More then 300 days(correct me if I am wrong) our favorite KKong is without a win, and then he kicks Bisu's ass old school style while Bisu was owning hard at that time.
Piece of history worth bumping considering recent events imo.

No offense, but this is not a cool bump I was really really surprised and happy when I saw this because I knew the game and I was thinking that this happened again.... but it was just a memory GG Yellow ~
