The news appears to be a few days old - but I did not find it with a site search nor have I seen this posted on another site. I'm glad it will be held on the east coast again - much more convenient for me. In addition, $100,000 in cash prizes equals about ~$11,000 per game for prizes, which is not bad.

honestly this is a good thing...
Built in 20k audience or so and chances are they are all probably fans of gaming so it will be a knowledgeable and interested audience.. which is more fun for the players.
The cosplay shit will be annoying/funny but it won't be that bad.. I think this is a LOT more good than bad.
I cannot wait!

someone should keep count how many times incontrol laughs at the festival.
|
hey it's better to have a bunch of people there, might get more attention this way for better events in the USA!
|
Seeing as how I'm closeby (queens), I might show up to spectate. We should arrange a tl meetup ^^
|
it's bad enough when people find out I play SC they think I'm a nerd and everyone who plays this game already is. Now they're going to think most SC gamers are anime freaks. FML
Idk if i'll go... if enough people I know go maybe I will

If someone opens up a paypal and has people donate money that equals to around 300$ I will for one day of USA finals dress as any character TL.net wants.
As long as it doesn't hinder me from playing or get me in trouble (official, like inappropriate or something).
I make this vow to you guys.
Pay me 300$ and I will go as anything you want.

I'd do it.
I'm just starting to think 300$ might be a little low.

luckstar girl, goku, what else

Haha, I went to NYAF last year.
Now I want to go to see all the weeaboos annoy all the gamers and all the gamers go OH MY GOD ANIME FREAKS ARE SO ANNOYING.
If you guys think that's bad, every anime con has a DDR tournament and DDR players get so pissed when people associate them with the anime people.
Not all DDR players are obsessed with anime, but people stereotype DDR players that way.

If time travel were possible, most certainly I would arm wrestle you in 1999 for $25 per game.
Now, my shoulders are already fucked up and I'm an old man, so how about we have a DDR contest.

• FIFA Soccer 09 (1 v. 1 Sports) • Carom3D (1 v. 1 Casual) • Red Stone (4 v. 4 Team MMORPG) • Gears of War 2 (4 v. 4 Team FPS) US title only • Guitar Hero World Tour (1 v. 1 Music) • Virtua Fighter 5 (1 v. 1 Fighting) • Asphalt 4: Elite Racing (1 v. 1 Racing) • Wise Star 2 (1 v. 1 Strategy)
I'm surprised there's no Halo. I haven't even heard of carom, redstone, asphalt or wise star. Have I been living under a rock? And virtual fighter 5? Aren't there way more popular titles?
No WoW? I tried wiki'ing red stone and I get redirected to FMA.

No WoW? I tried wiki'ing red stone and I get redirected to FMA. Carom3D is a 8 Ball Pool game made by a Korean developper that is sponsoring it's participation. Same goes for Red Stone, fully sponsored game.
I had the pleasure of getting 3rd place (despite never having played it before) in the Carom3D Press Match at the WCG Finals in Cologne and winning an MP3-player. Then this Korean CEO with a translator started asking me questions about what I thought about the game. Fun experience.

anyone have any info on if people who qualified can somehow be hooked up with a free ticket for guests? I want to see if I can get a ticket from a friend who qualified for the War3 part and if I can get that along with a cheap cross-country flight I just may consider going
edit: oops I totally posted in the wrong thread (I had this page open cause I gave a friend a link to this topic)
