Kinda disappointed with the games today. I expected a lot better given the players involved.
July vs Bisu was the closest and still July was never threatened.
Bad news to complete the upset : Stork is now qualified for the next round. Today sucks.

true, but he let stork see his base. stork knew exactly what was coming.

only way he wins is if stork fast expands or scouts late

Stork was quite wary of proxy cheese, and it paid of this time. Smart scouting/pylon placement, and pulling probes when needed. Still, I would have liked a longer game, with the same outcome.

Without an OSL/MSL curse, Stork will forever be.. consistent. The career ending moment for Stork is when he actually wins something big.

storks game was really impressive!

the way he used his zealots and probes to defend, I'm sure he even knew what was going on after his first scouting!

I disagree that cheesing is a sign that the player is fearful of his opponent.
Cheesing is only part of the strategy, if the player decides that his foe is not prepared to counter a cheese build, then why not cheese on him?
Starcraft is not only about long macro game, whether its cheesing, rush build, macro game, a win is a win.

Were the first rax landing place within the pylon range that Stork could see it? I dont think so but stork realized the cheese by scouting fantasy's base. And he added right away second gate at that time

Nice day.

July wins, yay!... I just don't know if i want Bisu or Much dropping out... Much will have a hard time with July but is more than able to beat Flash and Flash should be able to punish Bisu... This really smells like a Tiebreaker here...

ForGG shows that he's able to win if his openend is trying hard to allow it... ok.

Luxury out... I don't like him (and he's Z, that means much :p) and Midas was georgus.

Stork wins. Good... Fantasy lose. Bad...

I think tasteless said something to effect "this is strategy he has deemed best to defeat his opponent." And that is what the game is about, to win. If you think you can win easier with a rush than with "standard play," you would be a fool not to rush.

When Jaedong cheesed Best the two first games in WCG Korea, I certainly didn't interpret that as Jaedong fearing Best, rather that he thought he wouldn't even have to play him straight up. And in the third game, he proved beyond doubt that he had nothing to fear.

In this case however, I kinda doubt that Fantasy would liked his chances against Stork in a macro game.

It was certainly in range, but since the pylon hadn't finished building yet, it couldn't see it. But it was still a good placement, if he hadn't found the barracks with his probe on the first pass, it could have made a difference.

Stork qualifying is an upset? LOL, do you even know who Stork is?

First, read again : I didn't say Stork qualifying was an upset, I said it was bad news.
And yes, I know who Stork is and him qualifying is bad news. Stork is consistency personified (I picked him in my fantasy MSL team for that reason). But his last he displayed cute, creative play was long, long ago. I don't mean he is bad, because he isn't. It is just that his games are not inspiring, and I do not like that. He keeps winning until the finals. Props to him.
But I prefer players like Kal or Much, who lose earlier but make daring BOs (one base carrier vs Bisu was awesome) and enjoyable games. I just think Stork is boring.
Obviously, as a player, one may prefer to win in an ugly fashion rather than lose with style. As a spectator, I just want a great show.
Only my opinion though.

If showmanship prevails over desire to win, the tournament suffers. StarCraft is only fun to watch because players do whatever they need to do to win. There is no magic without players like Stork.
May the BeSt man win.
