honestly Royal vs Soulkey was 50/50 but I think Royal won this series convincingly. When you look at the macro games, he won most of them decisively and for the one macro game that he lost, he was in serious trouble from the early vulture tank attack but still managed to get back into a decent position before losing.

I was planning to come to Korea for the finals. I cancelled when it came to TVT. Caught sleep on first match. Damn finals should not be mirror match.

Surprised at all the scorn for TvT. This final delivered. Heck, most FvJ finals have been less satisfying in terms of back-and-forth between the players. Not much hype this time, but fun games to watch!
I liked how aggressive Royal’s openings were.

Agreed, this final was among the better ones in SC history in terms of action, skill and creativity. Royal mixed in fast-paced aggressive strats and outplayed Rush in a bo7, which is extremely hard to do.

Such an action packed TvT, RoyaL's aggression delivered! Rush's TvT is his best MU and if it goes long enough he should win but RoyaL didn't let him breathe. Well deserved, I was having high hopes for him and he did it finally!

Usually I like TvT a lot but these finals were mostly meh. So many mistakes...

Idk, Rush played so defensively, no scouting at all. Royal "outmacroed" him because he just expanded and Rush never scouted and punished it - or expanded himself. With 5v3 bases, of course you win in the long run unless you are putting your rally point into the enemy tank line and never move it again.

probably because it contained absolute no marquee players - if this was flash vs light or something no doubt they'd be more fanfare

It was a great series. Normally despise mirror-matches. but the skill, meta and intensity was high level, hard to not enjoy it.
Was cheering for Rush to get his ASL-win finally, but Royal's strats won me over in a couple of games. Really nice variety and fully deserved winner. Congrats!

RoyaL has me in awe, I love the way he plays, not afraid to mix it up and be more aggressive yet still solid on a regular game. Congrats to him on the Champion title. We finally have RoyaL Champion.
I don't mind mirror mu finals as long as it isn't PvP...
The ZvZ finals we had some seasons back was one of the best finals we've had and this TvT one was fine, not great, not bad.
And the one between Sea and Flash was pretty fun although lopsided.

What's taking them so long? I personally listen to Scan and Nyoken but a friend of mine waits for Tastosis' vods. By the time he gets back to me I have forgotten 80 % about the matches, lol.

Really happy for Royal, I've been super impressed with his play and improvement over the last 1.5 years. He's been a total force in ASTL and KCM and I was just waiting for him to get over his BoX nerves and reach his potential in ASL. He definitely came to win this season with some awesome builds and series prep. Too bad he didn't get tested in TvP though.
Feel bad for Rush taking down Light just to lose to Royal haha, but I feel like he's destined to win an ASL eventually.
