Yea was just about to say Soma's tempo is so much better...Bisu won't be able to do anything on the ground for a while other than dt. Soma should take a quick 4th and just defend imo. LOL nevermind...thought Bisu would have cannons in time

Credit to bisu but one of the ugliest games I've seen from a high level pro zerg

Hahaha. Nothing like last broadcast, that's for sure.

At least games were short.

No love for the 3rd place match it seems. Seems about right given both players didn't even prepare for this.
I think they should scrape the 3rd place match altogether and put a wildcard match at the beginning of the new season to determine who gets the 3rd pick in the group selection. That'd make it more exciting.
|
Was gonna say...4 pool Soma

This is a really bad spot for Bisu imo. Just based on how the map is laid out. I think he really is forced to take the third at 6. He needs the gas.
|
Sick timing from Bisu..very well played. It's over.

I've missed the first two games. But game 3 was nice

Soma's ZvP win-rate is gonna take a hit after this ASL.

Yesterday they both stayed up late to play a sponsored Proleague with 8 million won prize for the winning team. That's 2 million per player. I doubt they care much about the ASL prize haha.

Looks like very fast muta. Yes indeed. Soma crushing this game so far.
Another key thing - Soma hasn't had to make a single sunken.

I hear that but it's 5 million won for third (slightly more than 4000 US dollars) and just for one bo5. Worth caring a bit
|
man, impressive that soma has so many mutas, drones and lings in the early game
|
|
Stop pushing Soma...just contain..you got this.
|
Bisu needs to run back asap. Bisu couldn't see the map of course but he should've never moved out there. I disagree with Scan. I think Bisu just needs to get a third desperately. Yea...Bisu had no business moving out...just needed to use those zealots and templars defensively to hope to take a third.
|
bisu banking 1.2k gas is odd
|
maybe just all the cannons meant bisu couldn't throw down the gateways to use the gas
|
Bisu made a couple of mistakes... Soma is way ahead now...
|
Oh well...Let's see the decisive game !

Intense. Just put a sunken Soma....
|
a cannon rush in the final game lol
|
Nice, so he didn't lose immediately because of a bug.
Haha
|
I have to give credit to Bisu for his massive balls. Cannon rushes rarely work. Pretty impressive
|
Sunken colony bug is disgusting.
|
DT + Zealot + Sair can really really hurt the third.

Congrats Bisu for the third spot.

Bisu/Mini/Rain still having good or very good records against Z.
Protoss is still alive and well.

Me too Nyoken. Before I saw how Rain handled himself in the Soma match I was leaning Light. But I just think Rain will come up with a great answer to Light. I would imagine its playing very solid and slightly aggressive - 2 shuttle etc - and going carriers just before maxing out. So maybe saving enough supply for 3 carriers before hitting 200. Then balancing his army while slowly increasing the carrier count so Light can lean on his defensive strength too much.

Unfortunately going to miss the finals most likely, I'm thinking Light will win 4-2
Hoping for some good games anyhow!
|
Damnit! I was betting Bisu > Soma on liquibet if there was one...
|
What the hell... The match happened so fast after the last semi finals! Guess it's partly because of the schedule lagging behind due to the COVID postponement huh?
When is the final? Don't want to miss that!

That game 5 was intense already from the start. Wondered many times will the cannon rush beat Soma or not lmao.

Protoss is still alive and well.
I think protoss is actually at a high point, perhaps the best it has been since KSL 3 in which the top 4 were protoss.
Toss just had a tough time maybe a year ago when Queen/Soma just absolutely dominated Snow/Best. The unfortunate reality is that Snow/Best are just too inconsistent and too weak against zerg to rack up the kinds of results that Rain/Bisu/Mini are able to.
I'd argue protoss is currently in healthier shape than Terran assuming that Rain/Bisu stick around.
|
Pretty fun final game today. Hard to follow up the crazies that was Ro4 Soma vs Rain, but glad to see style differences in PvZ.
Looking forward to Rain vs Light, my bet is that Light will take it all. He looked too solid against Bisu in Ro4.
|
This is THE Bisu I missed long ago! I want him to comeback stronger next season and get into finals and win it before FlaSh arrives.

What is sunken bug in last game?
|
Can I suggest Starcast TV youtube channel to not indicate the names and pictures of the players in their video please, some people don't get to watch the VODs until later and it automatically spoils the results for them.

Basically when a sunken is in attack range of an enemy building it can legally target (pylon for example), then during the attack animation of the sunken's tongue hitting the ground you can switch targets manually.
I forgot of the exact reasoning behind it, but I believe a prerequisite is that the further target you want to attack instead (Bisu's cannon in this case) is attacking something near the sunken, which is why Bisu was trying to micro his cannon to not attack the hatchery continuously, but at odd intervals, to make it more difficult for Soma to exploit the sunken bug.
Edit: If Soma's sunken killed that pylon that was (legally) in range, he could no longer exploit the bug to attack Bisu's cannon, so it's possible Bisu was actually spamming stop on his cannon to not attack at all. I'm not going to rewatch it to confirm or deny that though. Either way it was hilarious to watch.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong about the bug.

Wonder why they don't just ban exploiting the sunken bug in tournaments really. I mean, it's a bug. Imagine if there were a Dragoon bug that makes them shoot as far as siege tank. Surely it has to be banned.
|
That sunken bug is literally the Zerg defense to 80% of cannon rushes. Without it, most zergs would just gg by the time the cannons get up.
It's super lame.
|
the sunken exploit should not be allowed in tournaments imo. I mean it should be fixed and/or bannable offence overall, but the game is long gone out of support, however, things like this(another example could be the flying drone) can still be ruled out of tournaments
|
i disagree -- protoss has the option to avoid it by just ... not cannon rushing.
|

dragoons actually can make use of the same bug, there was a gif that showcased it but its rare to get off in a real game cause of game state conditions, like its very niche in its use case and other than setting it up you cant really control it since manual commands override it

Wasn't the flying drone bug fixed ages ago? There might still be an accidental one you can't exploit, but the shift click gas one hasn't worked in forever.
|
There's a thread on the sunken bug. It happens passively when your sunken is auto-attacking a lower priority unit (like a pylon) and gets aggro'd during its pre-attack animation by a higher priority unit (like a cannon shooting your hatchery) that's out of range. It's not even unique to sunken colonies -- it just comes up more often for them due to the long pre-attack animation.
Because it's passive and doesn't require the player doing anything unnatural, it would be a hard bug to ban. It would need to be patched instead.

I'll just add that the sunken bug is a natural reaction of how the game is coded. Mainly that attacks automatically prioritize things that are attacking. It doesn't require the zerg player to do anything special. The sunken does it on its own. This is why it isn't banned in tournaments etc.
Edit: Didn't read the above post by Severedevil before posting

Doubt.
It's still available because it's a tricky bug to fix most probably. Since imagine that it's part of one of the fundamental aspects of the game.
