I dislike both players quite a lot.. so I shouldn't care about who wins this, but I think Larva would give us a much better set of games in the Grand Final, so I hope he wins.

I think larva is the only one who has a chance to win vs mini.
But first, let's see some gosu zvz!

Go Larva!

Love his personality, and his unorthodox turtle Zerg playstyle will be a good dynamic clash with mini's own off-meta style.

Don't follow hero much. But I expect he'll just play rather vanilla and we'll see lots of hydra busts...

Was hoping for a 60 minute match, but I'll take under if it means Larva winning
Fairly balanced match in terms of luck thus far, only a small bo advantage for him in game 1.

Hero was sub-par today. However, Larva would've won anyway I think, longer formats really favor players that are comfortable playing more strategic games.

Mini - Larva will probably be the best final since Effort vs Flash in ASL6. Their online matches are always crazy. (you can youtube them).

After that inital ling-dance-off at Larva's natural, there were about a dozen small situations in game 4 where I thought something like "sloppy play by hero", "slow reaction by hero", "unnecessary small losses by hero"... Not in best shape today.
Larva on the other hand seemed to do everything right, at the right time, in the right amount... Happy for him.

Ro24 was bad, Ro16 was aight, Ro8 had 3 bad series, Ro4 2x bad series. I can't think of another starleague that has been this bad, first that comes to mind was the 2006 Shinhan Bank OSL.

haha usually when the ro8 is one sided the semis are good but yeah bad matchups overall this ASL. I forget if we even saw any late game play this ASL. If Afreeca is making ro4 bo7, there's no reason not to make the group stages fully bo3 to improve the placements quality in the future.

Pretty ridiculous statement considering the previous season of ASL had no redeemable series in all of its knockout rounds. Just a bunch of ZvZs, some of the most tragic PvZ series of all time and Flash clowning as random is far worse than any of this.

The bonus this season is we legitimately have a 50/50 finals that will most probably bring in some really hard fought games.

gogo larva...I'd love to see him pick up a title.
Mini stated some concern that he'd shown his builds vs Queen and larva hasn't had to play any protoss in a longer series (i'm not up with what's happening in sponbangs). I wonder who they'll each train with and what they'll each bring to finals.

Larva's so going to win this ASL. The only Protoss player he can lose to in a BO7 is Bisu. He holds a 60% record against Mini in 2021. The map pool is in his favor. Mini has revealed his tricks against Zero already, plus his style won't work well against the turtling Zerg style of Larva.

Rekt. Thought Hero had this. Although I can't say I've seen him play a ZvZ in years so I had no basis for my claims other than that he had been playing well in ZvP/ZvT on his stream and during the tournament.

Larva's mechanics weren't great vs Rush thought Hero might have the edge.

But everyone was saying that Zero had already beaten Mini, and would probably/certainly be champion as well. I will repeat what I said about the semifinals, larva may be the favourite, but Mini is not dead.

I think I've watched well over 25+ games between these two over the years. Mainly because their styles clash really well, and that should be the primary reason people should be excited about the finals.

It truly is a 50/50 series on paper, however I think on these maps Larva can comfortably play his style and that will allow him to reign in any nerves he might have for the first few games.

I'd be shocked if this series has less than 6 games tbh.

lmfao after Scan pointed out Mini's thumbnail from the other Ro4, I've seen more than I ever would have though from starcraft players. Larva rocked it in that one youtube video though (thread)

Larva truly put up a clinic, caught so hero out of position so many times. Setting up to be a great finals! Mini's PvZ was looking good too.

Anyone that's played a bunch of ZvZ games vs someone in a row knows just how streaky it can be and feels Hero's pain lol. Happy for Larva and looking forward to this final more than any since Effort vs Flash season 6. Let's hope the series is as exciting as that one.

Which was prequel to ASL. FlaSh arrived and crashed everything (although Last started dominating at that time too).

G1 and G4 felt like the same game in terms of build/strategy and especially Larva's execution. Which is not necessarily a bad thing. I love watching BW ZvZ and this is my second-favorite kind, where there is an intentional asymmetry between the players. 1 base spire vs. 2 base spores at the most basic level for example. (My favorite kind is any ZvZ that sees at least one devourer made)

This was an amazing series. Who would've thought Larva takes it 4-0 after having a losing record against hero in ASL to my knowledge (he got eliminated by hero back in asl4). It's true that hero had some less than stellar muta micro moments this series and his multitasking wasn't up to par at times, but I think part of it was Larva just really elevating his game to the next level.

That last game was pretty insane with the constant ling backstabs. He'll always avoid the overlord vision and send in a ling from another angle or he'll do a distraction and then snipe drones with some mutas before escaping. He had the advantage after hero couldn't take down or do enough in the early game and maintained it through various tactics to build up his muta count.

Rough for hero but at least he's seeded so he'll be back and we'll get to crown a new ASL champion whether another zerg championship to join Effort and Zero or a new Protoss champion to join the likes of Shuttle and Rain. Will be great either way!

Now we have a zero to hero 3rd place match!

I'm so confused about how good Hero actually is. He made the finals once, playing amazingly, then he's been probably the most inconsistent player since then (alongside Sharp and Mini), losing to players ranked way lower than him, then somehow makes the semifinals, beating insanely good players like Rush?

I don't know which ASL it started in but the Korean commentators look absolutely fire in this one. Like the color choices + general style of dress on all of them

Need more pimpsuits in StarCraft

He made 3rd place the season after his 2nd place, then he went to military service, came back, made one ro16 and is now made the semifinals again... very inconsistent indeed

This is probably a dumb question but how much longer does it take Artosis to cast each round than Scan? Scan’s stream is usually the one I can find posted promptly. And he knows a lot more strategy wise even though Artosis is a much better streamer.

If you watch ASTL and Ultimate Battle and look at the sponbbang rankings, he is incredibly inconsistent

I'd probably put Zero, Larva and maybe Soma ahead of him at the moment
