Keep your promise that you said that you'll watch the throne.

Love his personality, and his unorthodox turtle Zerg playstyle will be a good dynamic clash with mini's own off-meta style. Don't follow hero much. But I expect he'll just play rather vanilla and we'll see lots of hydra busts...

Fairly balanced match in terms of luck thus far, only a small bo advantage for him in game 1.

Mini - Larva will probably be the best final since Effort vs Flash in ASL6. Their online matches are always crazy. (you can youtube them).

Larva on the other hand seemed to do everything right, at the right time, in the right amount... Happy for him.

Ro24 was bad, Ro16 was aight, Ro8 had 3 bad series, Ro4 2x bad series. I can't think of another starleague that has been this bad, first that comes to mind was the 2006 Shinhan Bank OSL.

I forget if we even saw any late game play this ASL. If Afreeca is making ro4 bo7, there's no reason not to make the group stages fully bo3 to improve the placements quality in the future.

Pretty ridiculous statement considering the previous season of ASL had no redeemable series in all of its knockout rounds. Just a bunch of ZvZs, some of the most tragic PvZ series of all time and Flash clowning as random is far worse than any of this. The bonus this season is we legitimately have a 50/50 finals that will most probably bring in some really hard fought games.

Mini stated some concern that he'd shown his builds vs Queen and larva hasn't had to play any protoss in a longer series (i'm not up with what's happening in sponbangs). I wonder who they'll each train with and what they'll each bring to finals.

Larva's mechanics weren't great vs Rush thought Hero might have the edge.

Mini has revealed his tricks against Zero already, plus his style won't work well against the turtling Zerg style of Larva. But everyone was saying that Zero had already beaten Mini, and would probably/certainly be champion as well. I will repeat what I said about the semifinals, larva may be the favourite, but Mini is not dead.

Mainly because their styles clash really well, and that should be the primary reason people should be excited about the finals. It truly is a 50/50 series on paper, however I think on these maps Larva can comfortably play his style and that will allow him to reign in any nerves he might have for the first few games. I'd be shocked if this series has less than 6 games tbh.

Larva rocked it in that one youtube video though (thread) Larva truly put up a clinic, caught so hero out of position so many times. Setting up to be a great finals! Mini's PvZ was looking good too.

edit: seems the last time we had a ZvP final in a major tournament was the VANT36.5 National Starleague back in 2016 :O

Happy for Larva and looking forward to this final more than any since Effort vs Flash season 6. Let's hope the series is as exciting as that one. G1 and G4 felt like the same game in terms of build/strategy and especially Larva's execution. Which is not necessarily a bad thing. I love watching BW ZvZ and this is my second-favorite kind, where there is an intentional asymmetry between the players. 1 base spire vs. 2 base spores at the most basic level for example. (My favorite kind is any ZvZ that sees at least one devourer made)

That last game was pretty insane with the constant ling backstabs. He'll always avoid the overlord vision and send in a ling from another angle or he'll do a distraction and then snipe drones with some mutas before escaping. He had the advantage after hero couldn't take down or do enough in the early game and maintained it through various tactics to build up his muta count. Rough for hero but at least he's seeded so he'll be back and we'll get to crown a new ASL champion whether another zerg championship to join Effort and Zero or a new Protoss champion to join the likes of Shuttle and Rain. Will be great either way!

Who would've thought Larva takes it 4-0 after having a losing record against hero in ASL to my knowledge (he got eliminated by hero back in asl4). It's true that hero had some less than stellar muta micro moments this series and his multitasking wasn't up to par at times, but I think part of it was Larva just really elevating his game to the next level.
