One of the most gruesome groups we have in this season's MSL, the group features two Major League champions in Savior and Casy, a flaming rookie-reincarnate in Flash, and a Backho that showed a surprisingly strong game vs Pusan in last week's proleague.
Some questions to be answered:
- will Backho cheese Savior in an attempt to get through, and will Savior repel it as he commonly does?
- can Casy regain the form that brought him his crown? Both Flash and Casy prefer aggression over management of the late game economy, so it will be intersting to see what builds they choose to open.

Ill do some. Savior Hatching at natural. Protoss hasnt scouted him yet. Toss opening with forge first nexus. Saviors pool is done and hes started a 3rd hatch then gas.

Savior has used his scouting drone to build an extractor over the main gas. Savior macroing drones while gathering gas.

Savior starts of with expanding.
Backho aswell. Forge+cans + nexus.
Savior steals backhos gas at main.
Backho starts a core while savior starts his lair.

Protoss of course simply builds his gas at his natural and starts a core. Still behind one cannon. One zealot out and it heads to the extractor.

Savior finally has a few lings out and they chase the probe out of his base. Ah savior has started a hatch at the 6 nat. Also a spire hidden near the back of his nat. Stargate in for Backho.

Zealot starts doing damage to saviors extractor
Savior spawns some lings and chases away the scouting probe.
savior starts another hatch @6
Backho warps in a stargate and savior starts his spire

Saviors 10 or so lings get a scouting probe and p has warped another cannon at his nat as well as a robo facility at the front. Sair reaver for Back Ho. He better hope he has some really strong micro.

He loses his first sair to scourge though...and savior has mutas out. They head to the protoss main. 1 cannon and one sair defending with more warping in. 3 cannons at front..none guarding the nat min line! Hydra den is in for savior..savior doesnt attack the min line at the nat.

Backho warps in 3 additional gateways in his main.
Citadel started aswell.
Saviors expo @6 is up and running.

Savior scouts it all wit a muta as has begun pumping hydras out of 4 hatches, with another hatch at the 6 nat. Backho moves out with some zs and goons...savior has a huge army though. The sairs get a ovie kill. Savior attacking the protoss nat! Savior with nice micro does good damage to the goon/reaver army before retreating. He killed the reaver.

3 csairs fights off the mutas.
Backho sends 3 zeals towards saviors expo. meets lings.
edit the citadel was a support bay, my bad.
luts of hydras+ lings moves out.
Reavers kills most of it. backho has lots of goons and fights off saviors attempt.

Moving in again doing minor damage with hydra army before a well targeted reaver shot takes down a chunk of hydras and savior runs away. Savior starting a hatch at the 6 main. He attacks with hydras again. The reaver barely lives in red life this time before savior runs.

savior has a hard time doing some damage to those lots of goons and reavers.
savior starts an expo at 6 main.
Sav keeps on pumping out hydras. Attacks and gets kiklled.

Back ho is moving out with goon reaver army but loses both reavers very quickly and loses most of his goon army to a nice flank, he did decent damage but savior obviously in control of this game.

Backho moves out with reavers + goons.
Gets flanked and killed by savior. Retreats with 6 goons left.

Comparing BackHo to bisu is pretty funny Savior running to the around the main p army to set up for flank. Savior has started yet another base at the 9 nat? Ok savior moving in with a MASSIVE flank. The P army is absolutely crushed. What a rape Oh P gged by the way.

TvT was one of Casy's strong matchups in shinhan3, but he lost 3-2 to nada in a series where he was down 2-0, tied it at 2-2, and lost the deciding 5th game, and then got absolutely destroyed by iris in the 3/4, 3-0
Flash lost a TvT to Boxer due mostly to inexperience and flawed late game decision making, we'll see if he's better at it here.
Hopefully it's not an hour long TvT. I want to see Flashy try an early eco build and Casy try to crack it.

Casy finally sees Flashs CC first build before running scv from 1 rine. Fact started for flash, halfway done. Casy Has 1 fact with add on and another fact started. Flash has a bunker and starting dual starports! Casy has 4 marines and his add on is spinning. 4 rines and tank moving out. Casy mostly likely getting siege. Flashs rax is in the air and a addon goes on is first start port. Floating rax sees the tank and marines. The tank sieges and starts firing on the bunker and scvs go to repir it. Casymaking another further back. Nice micro by flash switchign out the scvs!

Great battle at flashs nat. Flash fights him off nicely though.

Flash holds with nice micro as Casy moves in tanks/vults and marines. Vults laying mines by the tanks but flash manages to kill most of them before they go off.

Casy runs 2 vultures into Flash's main while flash's wraiths are at Casy's main killing scvs
2 of Flash's tanks destroyed by mines, Flash loses a few scvs
Casy is still losing scvs in his main, goliaths come to try to drive the wraiths away
Flash cloaks and continues to kill scvs and a building turret. Casy has no way of seeing the wraiths, his academy just started

Casy microes his vults perfect. kills 2 tanks with one mine and get alot of scv kills aswell,.

OH! Vults get in and lay mines to kill 2 tanks. They then run by and damage the min line while flash is firing on the min line of Casy. He gets many scvs kills before a goliath comes out. Scan not quite done. Ok its done and he cloaks. Casy gets a turret up at his nat in time. But his main min line is still open.

Flash is adding another fact and has 2 cloaked wraiths that continue to keep casy from mining at his main. They uncloak now and Casy goes to finally secure his main.

I'd say flash has an advantage at this point. Started his second expo and got many tanks aswell.

Wraiths run out of energy and Flash has to run
Casy looks pretty behind. He has two base, 2 fac + 1 building, acad, and 3 tanks + 4 goliaths
Flash has what looks like 9 tanks, 2 dropships, 2 wraiths, and a 3rd cc already done and floating to island expo

Casy still not mining gas at his nat. Acad is done for casy finally and scanners started. Flash has 7 tanks and is taking island. Casy moving out with tank goliath! Flash clears out the mines in front of his base and moves out with many tanks.

Cloaked wraiths breifly engage some goliaths so Flash knows where casy is. Flash has 4 dropships ready! Casy has still not taken a second base while Flash has a fully running island expo. Flash looking strong after the openings. Flash has 5 dropships now. They load up and head west!

Flashes tanks are idling in the middle of the map. 5 dropships for flash now. He loads his tanks and is going to Casy's main mineral line.
It's completely undefended and lots of SCVs die.
Casy going for a counter into flash's main, it won't work though due to SCVs + newly produced Flash units.

On a map like Python i'd think Flash would cheese or 14cc, but since its Hitchhiker maybe he'll do the same fast Tank push build that he did vs GGPlay.

Didnt look like enough drones for 12 pool to me Flash continuing to mass off 2 facts with no acad that i can see yet. Savior has started a relatively fast second gas. Savior tries to get a scouting drone in through the back but flash has positioned 2 rines there and kills it before it gets in. Spire up for savior. This should be good tiing for savior. Flash starts to move out with marines only.

problem for savior is he scouted 1 idle rax and 4 marines, thats literally all he's seen. hopefully he knows from the GGPlay game that Flash does this build.
Savior has 1 sunken and is sending lings out to scout for proxies. The drone in Flash's base finally dies, but doesnt see the factory.

While saviors muta micro was great flash seemed uncanny in the way he targeted saviors weak mutas. It could've been luck but he was really lucky then Kept getting the weak mutas out of the patch. Saviors GGs. Flash wins.

i think even if it's Casy/Savior on Monty, Savior has advantage despite the map
it's extremely hard to 1 base pressure (what Casy excels at) or even just 2 base. You gotta play it like a max out game and I'm not sure if Casy can do that TvZ. This is of course IF Casy wins a TvP.

the fast tank build on HH is smart, not cheese. what he did vs Bisu is cheese.
and Flash is the epitome of "not different" in Starcraft. until he gets some more experience he's not going to deviate from his taught builds. he lets his mechanics win for him, he's very, very good at macro and multitask but he's 100% not "bringing something different" to starcraft.

Flash's builds vs both players were almost exactly alike.

Well..., Monty Hall is 14-9, which is obviouly not completey balanced, but the balance is shifting a lot.
Out of the first 10 game Zerg won 3, but ouf the the last 10 they won 5, which is exactly half obviously
I really don't think you can say Savior would be disadvantaged here.

Casy without armory as the first carier pops out.

Shuttle goes to counter casys min line as his goons delay in front. Reaver gets some scvs kills as casy is working on continuing to push foward. Casy has P on his heels using the pulled scvs from his nat and nice push positioning and micro to pin the p in his base. However BackHos reaver causing more trouble at casys nat and forces a lift.

Yes, but compare the effort Z has to make (pump mutas, have insane muta micro, cut off reinforcements while carefully attacking the main "blob" of marines, rebuild sunkens) vs. the one T has to make (just pump marines + tanks, rally to Z base). It's far easier for the T.
And if Z loses 1 hatch it's basically over, as Z can't macro enough mutas off 1 hatch.
The strategy seems really imbalanced on that map, if timed correctly.
Z has to rely on extreme muta micro which simply doesn't work as well every time as it should.

Omfg BackHos reaver comes back once again and gets another large chunk of scvs as casy takes down the min only of back ho. Backho with his super reaver at the main now. Casy runs ascvs in time and gets his armory up. BackHo has a semi hidden expo and is starting another.

4 carriers and goons/slow zs advancing on Casys nat. Carrier picking off tanks as intercepters are popped by 4 or so turrets. THe ground army is stopped barely but backhos carriers still rampaging and more p units join the fight. Casy ggs as a reaver is dropped and he has no way of stopping it. He looks pissed BackHo played really solid pvt.

Everyone in the world gets plagued and then savior attacks with pure ultra. Mass chon resist though and he retreats. Bangho presses the advantage with his infinite chon army and almost takes out saviors central nat. He is forced to back off and wait for more zees which arrive quickly.

Really boring game imo, the only exciting thing about it was the importance of it, and sAviOr on the line for OSL... I wouldn't give the game a 2nd look.

I'm happy Savior won.
That game was so tough for zerg it's crazy. Map coupled with hackho's good macro spelled tough times even for the maestro. Savior used the entire spectrum of zerg arsenal in that game save devourer, absolutely every zerg unit made an appearance that game except for the acid sporer (and to shut naysayers up, of course the infested units also).

he was messing around with queens and shit for way too long

even though monty hall and hitchhiker are very tough maps for zergs, savior has become weaker. the tourning points were his loss to bisu for ZvP and to firebathhero/iris for ZvT... And like mentioned before, he has become a little bit fatter (perhaps July gave him some advise what to eat as a zerg). I hope there is no burn-out for him.... At least you can say his great lategame still exists, but to reach it, he should quit being sloppy in the early and midgame. Perhaps his game sense is gone.

Don't know what to say about Saviors play today, he really fought for it, both in his loss on hitchhiker and his win on monty, but his level of play seemed to be all over the place. He had moments of brilliance followed by moments of inactivity and desperation. I'm ecstatic that he made it to the osl in the end, but at the moment he doesn't look like a potential winner.
