Defense scales much better. The tiny extra from a bounce can't compare to the the third bounce being nullified by +1 vs 0/0.
Attack scales very, very well vs large and or static objects. Larger Up-front damage.
The attack does bounce really, really sexy with +2 vs 1/1 marines.

Because secondary attacks deal reduced damage (namely 1/3rd and 1/9th) they also get reduced increase from upgrade. While armor reduces secondary attacks normally.
So 3 mutas with +1 attack would take 9/3/1 damage from 3 mutas with 1 armor but would only deal 9/2.3(?)/.5 to them.
