Kal had dragoons and they are supposed to be effective against lurkers without support. And they were! Kal kept clearing the lurker field, BUT it was taking to long, apparently Jaedong had droned up or something because he overruns poor kal. I kept telling everyone in the stream that dragoons are effective against lurker you have to listen to me guys .And Bakuryu and vOddy was like all nonchalant: nope he got rolled and he never stood a chance. My reply: But dragoons...effective against lurkers....no zergling support.... Man i'm sleepy

Back in 2008 OSL had the supply / mineral / gas counts. ~2009 the Gom Classic had unit counts and maybe even production! The software has been made; I don't know why they aren't using it...

Maybe supply counts are good for longish close games like this, but maybe it makes one sided games less fun cause it's easy to see how ahead the winning player is and then you're just asking for the gg already

BW has had observer supply counts and even unit counts, and GOM had it (proof: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NsZmZhrAHa0). Why did Afreeca not get this from GOM? Someone said that they aren't showing game timers because they were used for prop betting... I can't believe this because bettors can easily find something else to bet on and prop bets can get infinitely creative. And betting sites could easily add a timing layer to streams. I feel that the only time that they may be useful is late game because they spoil too much in terms of who's in the lead and if the game is over. It's true that its difficult for a beginner to tell who's in the lead just from seeing the game but I don't think having supply count is a perfect solution precisely because of what I previously mentioned.

But the real failure was in Sharp's game sense. He didn't set up his defense properly because he didn't think that a big attack on his expansion was the way this game was going. He thought Shuttle was slowed down more than he was, and incorrectly put Shuttle on still being in the powering phase when he was actually getting set up to attack.

Sharp's vT is impressive, indeed, and he has been rather fortunate for it, since this run and VANT's run have largely been on the back of that matchup (although his shock win over ZerO was something else, too). But unless he considered the first two games to have been warm-ups, and he's about to get serious, it's becoming increasingly clear that his vP still needs some serious work.

I have this idea for a film montage of Sharp learning to hate TvP: Sharp has to prep for an upcoming TvP game in Proleague or an individual league, whichever. He starts early in the morning before the sun rises, playing Jangbi before Stork lazily gets up at around ~10:45, and then he starts alternating between them every so many games. Coach January starts by looking warm and supportive, then by midday is yelling like the drill sergeant from Full Metal Jacket, and by the end of the day is overcome by depression and pity. Sharp looks calm, focused and hopeful at the start, and looks increasingly more intense, his eyes more and more bugging out and twitching like a berzerking anime character as the markerboard on the wall reads 0:5, 0:15... 0:50 finally. Stork's giving a few pointers at first... he gets more and more aloof and distracted and in his last shot of the montage he's using his left hand to play Brood War, his right hand to play World of Warcraft, and looking more at One Piece episodes on the third monitor than at his minimap.

How ever, I am thankful for Tastosis casting these games and finals. I love that BW is back. I live in Australia so South Korea and our time zone is rather close. Thank you guys for the great tourney. I wanted Flash to win but what ever. I enjoyed this Tourney and I loved the commentary from you guys and rapid/Wolf as well. Can't wait for the next possible tourney to begin.

I'm been blessed to have my internet back on in time to see the revival of Brood war begin. Flash losing was a bummer but the whole event was still fun to watch. I hope Tastosis stays around to continue the great casting of Brood War games.

Thats true actually, there are more people for sc2 now but keep in mind that this is on a saturday and koreans work on saturday so the fact that sc1 was at 2:30pm didnt help. And I very often go to pc bangs here and I have never seen anyone play sc2 here, but I see a lot of people play sc1, ums in particular.

I'm not saying it wasn't fun, just lackluster. I think despite some sloppiness Shuttle's play was amazing, and equally amazing to watch. And, of course, 3-0 blowouts are fun to watch in their own ways. But IMHO, and I'm not trying to disparage Sharp's effort or his dedication, he was way out of his league here, which could be one reason why Shuttle looked so bloody amazing. I commend Sharp for making it so far, as with Shuttle (lord knows we need different faces making it deeper in these tournaments). But I think he's fortunate to have even made it to the finals, because in my opinion he had no place in it. I think part of the reason is that he gets matched up with so many Terran players (the Terran roster is pretty stacked, so he probably gets plenty of practice, too), not to mention his group was the easiest of the bunch (no offense to those Group B players). His vT is impressive enough, and it's probably nice that he's been able to ride that wave deep into these tournaments. But his vP is sorely lacking. (Hell, I think if Jaehoon had somehow inexplicably managed to make it to these finals he would have had a good chance of winning.) Even in the first game, playing safe, he turtled a bit too long (while Shuttle bought time), and when he finally moved out, he got wiped off the battlefield. Shuttle's control of the games, along with his deeper strategic play and preparedness, his economic command, superior map control, and tactical prowess, completely shut down Sharp to the point where he had no answer to anything Shuttle threw at him. I'm really curious as to why anyone would have thought Sharp had a chance in this series (other than some emotional longing), especially if you also consider that his competition was the guy that 3-1'ed Last (widely considered to be the current best player, the AlphaGo). Anyway... Having said all that, congratulations still go to Shuttle on a deserved, dominating win.

In the first game it was masterful economy micromanagement, but in the last game the amount of minerals salvaged was not worth it. Huge blunder he'll be hating himself for. The reaver connect was crucial for shuttle to warrant his tech choice, and lol did he get that. The attack on sharp's 3rd was superlatively executed and sealed the deal. Fortune favors the bold but not the greedyness-kind. GG

And not on the level of flash's or last's. Sometimes, there are finals that are blowouts. That's life. But to say he had no place in the final is just a huge pile of bullshit. He advanced in his group and won all knock out rounds afterwards. Therefore, he did deserve to be in the finals. It's that easy. Sure, he had some luck in the MUs before, but tournament play always involves a bit of luck. But to say he didn't deserve to be there just because the final happens to be his worst MU and his opponent is extremely strong in it is just not fair to sharp.

Maybe it's because I don't play it myself, but I don't like TvP all that much. Honestly Sharp played like crap though. He had no follow up to any of his plans. When his strat didn't go to what he had in mind, he couldn't adapt at all. When it was Sea vs Sharp, it was more of a game where Sea lost than Sharp won. When Sea got a huge advantage with his wraith, the key is to transition that into ground army. It was a calculated mistake where no matter how much wraith you have, you can't stop 1 full group control of Tanks before it takes out your Command Center. Shuttle just let his experience take over and Sharp just fell completely apart.

Shuttle played so well, I was sure Sharp was going to win that first game but after getting half his army caught out in the middle with no mines or sieged tanks.. man what a reversal! Sharp.. I think he just mentally fell apart after game 2, he kept defending but he had literally no comeback to depend on. Shuttle constantly traded equally with Sharp, leaving Sharp no time to be able to slowly amass surviving units from each defense into one large 2/1 or 3/2 push. Shuttle also expanded aggressively when he could, he constantly out-expanded Sharp by at least 2 bases for every game lol. While 3-0 is disappointing I admit, the games were pretty fun to watch and kept me glued to till then. Hoping for more exposure and support for ASL in the future ![]()

If the games get uploaded individually you would still occasionally spoil the game if you take note of the length of the VOD. Just go full screen asap after you load the VOD. Now if you're impatient and start skipping then I understand it's easy to get spoiled. ASL only uploaded content as a whole and I opted to post VODs asap with each 2 different sources to avoid TL getting spammed with people asking when the VODs will be up. It is a whole lot more work to post it game by game (especially if I were to do so for all 6 sources), but since I hate getting spoiled, I will keep it in mind for the future.

Granted for people with DL limits that might be a problem but at least for me it would have been better to get the 5h one, after game 2 I knew it would be a 3-1 at best due to the amount of time remaining.

I never said there aren't 3-0 blowouts. Read my post again. I said they're fun to watch in their own ways. Sometimes watching dominating performances is as fun for me as slugfests. I also never said Sharp didn't "deserve" to be there. "Deserve"'s got nothing to do with it. I've said it before and I'll say it again, he was very very fortunate that the field is so Terran-heavy, and that he got placed in the weakest group (that he still had to play tiebreakers to get out of), because who's to say where he would have ended up otherwise. He got to where he got to, so good for him. Shuttle, on the other hand, had to contend in a group with EffOrt and free and took out Last on his way to the finals. Let me put it this way: based on yesterday's performances, I think if you put Sharp in front of any top Protoss, the result is still the same; any other Protoss and there's a good chance he loses. On the other hand, put any other Terran in front of Shuttle, and they would most likely lose. That's how dominating his performance was; that's how deserving his win. On September 10 2016 22:34 outscar wrote: I don't agree with feckless. Jesus, Shuttle's play is so perfect - timings are exact, great micro with outsanding macro, bulletproof defense. Hell, not counting how hard and stacked this tournament was, even premilinaries were cancer - he did it! I don't know what to say... In other hand Sea could've shown better finals. Except you're not disagreeing with anything I'm saying. Because I said Shuttle's play was amazing and his win was deserved.

Game 2: 4 kill zeal o.o. Early game was incredibly messy haha. What a timing from Shuttle, even after losing so many goons to mines early on... Wow Shuttle probably has twice Sharp's supply now. Game 3: 11 kill reaver nice. Shuttle's reaver-shuttle smh. Nice defense from Sharp. Storm drop, Shuttle keeps surprising. Despite, Shuttle's significantly sloppy control, he just outclassed Sharp this game. He's playing like Zerg right now, streams of units. GG Kind of bittersweet but Shuttle was just so much better. wow

Nice to see a non-Bisu Protoss winning something, too. EDIT: It did also occur to me just now that I'd love to see what fantasy would do in this PvT meta. Drops and vultures seems like it would massively slow down the Protoss spread, but neither Last nor Sharp really got enough pressure out most of the time.
