I have a question regarding the format. You say its a "5 round swiss". What does that exactly mean? I always thought swiss means everyone plays everyone as it is done in football/soccer leagues etc. The tournament has 17 players registered, that would mean every player would need to play 16 games. 17*16 = 272 games. That can't possibly be right. If "5 round swiss" means that a player just plays 5 games instead of 16, then who decides WHICH 5 players he faces?

It's 5 rounds, basically like this - if I understood it correctly: Round 1: games are set randomly, no particular order behind it. With 17 players, one receives a walk over. Round 2: the winners play the winners, losers play the losers, someone receives a w.o., but no idea who (cause no opponent) Round 3: winners of Round 2 play Winners of Round 2, Losers of Round 2 winners of Round 2 with a loss in Round 1, losers of Round 2, losers of Round 2 Round 4 & 5: same procedure Further restriction: You may only play one player once, not twice Sounds complicated, but isn't. The general idea is that whoever wins plays someone who wins equally, or if you constantly lose, you only play other losers. People are matched per round in consideration of their previous records. In the end you have a table like: 1. 5 wins, 0 losses 2. 5 wins, 0 losses 3. 4 wins, 1 loss ... 17. 0 wins, 5 losses It's a more forgiving format than randomly drawn groups, or eliminiation grids, as you always get a second chance.

Hm from your description it totally sounds like a normal bracket with losers bracket: Round 1: randomly generated bracket Round 2: losers dropped to losers bracket and play other losers there. Winner play winners in the main bracket Round 3: Those who have 1-1 stats play each other (those who dropped to losers bracket in round 2, but won first round and those who dropped to losers bracket in round 1 and won their game there). Those who have 2-0 play each other (players who stayed in main bracket). The only difference i see is that the players with two losses (0-2 stats) dont drop out completely but there is a "losers bracket of the losers bracket" and so on in further rounds. Apart from that its the same^^. But thanks for the explanation anyways ![]()

For now, I want to keep it as whoever shows up can play rather than schedule a match (at least not for this cup)
